my top 5:
will smith needs to be one, cube needs to be in another league for the credits he has on the production side (but i'd have him at 5 on the acting), and Ice T is perfect at 3. I'd have the Queen number 2, move luda to 4th.

For Poetic Justice alone Tupac needs to be on that list (shout out to janet also, but she's not a rapper). I know his career was cut short but he's in the top 10 You gotta give a shoutout to 50 since he's starting to pile up some movies and g.r.o.d.t. was a good movie. (I liked em in 8 mile more but he's only done that 1 movie)
I'm also giving eve a shoutout since she also had that t.v. show along with some movies

Good list, but you know I'm Ol' Skool so I gotta say you forgot my man Romany Malco aka Conrad from one of the funniest shows on TV, "Weeds" (Showtime) He also played Hammer in "The MC Hammer Story" and he was funny as hell in "The 40 Year Old Virgin". For those who are too young to remember or weren't even born yet, he was in a rap group called The College Boys on Virgin Records back in the days. Early 90s Oh, what about Treach - Naughty by Nature, I think RZA's a good actor too. Kid N Play (House Party 1 & 2), Run DMC & JMJ (Tougher Than Leather), Fat Boys (Disorderlies), Pac (Bishop was my favorite role), Heavy D, Beans and Freeway (State Property 1 & 2) Master P (I'm Bout It), LL I can go on and on, they gotta go on the next list. The list for what it's worth is cool. Eventhough, Mark wasn't necessarily a rapper he dropped a cd and got love for it. His acting skills are crazy though. His role from Fear, to boogie nights, 4 brothers and Italian job are all versatile. Same thing goes for LL and Ice Cube and Latifah with their roles - All versatile and believeable. Will Smith gets love because of the type of roles he plays - always the Good guy, which kills his broad range. Everyone else is cool. Mos is definitely a major player.

yeah, i would definitely put Common on that list instead of DMX. the only reason DMX can be considered a good actor is because he's always a screamin ass motherfucker and says every word in the same high energy voice. and he can only play a role where he's a "badass" and can't show any other side. i see right through it. Common can show emotion and weakness (like in Smokin' Aces) and he just looks natural doing it. he has a long career ahead of him in acting.

I still don't get the logic of leaving Pac out. Just cause someone is dead doesn't mean they don't rate as an actor.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Gridlock'd. I know a lot of people don't like that movie but I thought it was a great story and excellent acting.

If you're going just by sheer numbers pac also has more movies under his belt than a lot of tother people on that list.

I don't agree with you on not including 2 Pac, but that 's the problem with lists like these. You can't please everybody. Like it or not, that's the man's opinion and I'm just glad we're at the point where we can have a list with at least 10 names on it. I still remember when rappers turned actors were looked down upon and it took years for Hollywood to accept them as multi-talented artists that could do more than rock the mic.

I recently read your article on the "Top Ten Rappers-Turned-Actors" that was published in November of 2007. It is a great topic for stimulating discussion. Lets do it again.

If I were to vote on this today, the list would be slightly different. Most of the people you chose for this list were ok, but perhaps you have not had the opportunity to view the performances of "The Best Rappers-Turned-Actors". At the top of the list currently (today) would be , Will Smith, Queen Latifah, LL Cool Jay, Ice Tea, and Ice Cube, and Xzibit. They are the absolute finest when it comes to doing both, for they are all "Real" people trying to make a better way for us all.
