ok, i´ll be honest: i don´t like horror movies, they are extremely predictable, and i just went to see friday the 13th because of jared padalecki (don´t hit me, pleeeeease), but i have to admit, I HAD FUN, PREDICTABLE FUN, yes, but fun!!! This film contained a few elements that the director took right out of his remake of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". 2 of the extras and a few plot designs were taken straight from TCM. The idea of making Jason more human was interesting, but took away a little bit of his fear factor as an unstoppable, unkillable, remorseless being of pure vengance.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

1) Jason never kidnapped anyone, ever. Why in this film? The fact that he did kidnap someone and held them in an underground lair (I'll get to this next), was straight "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

2) The underground tunnels he "lived" in were also a cinematic device taken from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". In 13 previous movies they weren't there, so why now?

3) Jason collected a headless corpse and brought it home. Never has he shown the slightest interest in his victim, post mortem. He's not a cannibal like the TCM, rednecks.

4) Jason uses traps, electric lights and other devices he never used in the previous movies. Again, these are plot devices that are more suited to the ragged cannibal families of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" than the remorseless, undead spirit of vengance that Jason Voorhees has always been noted for.

I could go on, but the idea the Jason was portrayed as Leatherface with a hockey mask on took away form an otherwise great film. I know I'm coming off as a purist geek, but is nothing sacred anymore!!!!

All I can say is, if you like this movie, go watch the first 8 Friday the 13th movies. There Jason gets to be Jason and doesn't have to suffer from the singlemindedness of this director, who obviously thinks what he did in his remake of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was so good, it needed to be done again.

I peeped this joint on Friday the 13th. I will say it was a good movie. 4/5 stars. If you realized the directors and producers of this movie, you'd know it would be a little off. (smile)

I'm saying you have to that soundtrack in a friday the 13th series, it's part of the original, classic. I heard it maybe 3xs? I was a little bugged off of him taking prisoners and someone mentioned he kept a head, THAT WAS HIS MOMS, pay attention, she was beheaded, he had a shrine of her. the head was part of it. lmbo.

all in all i'd recommend it. And if anyone who did see it claims they didn't jump @ least 2xs, is lying.

As to what Hustlinupsouth said.

1. Jason kidnapped the girl because he looked like his mom. Notice everytime she spoke to him he listened to her and left her alone. When they found the necklace in his house and opened it up her boyfriend mentioned that she looked like the lady in the necklace.

2. In this movie he never died. He had to have a place to hideout so he lived in the underground tunnels so nobody would know he existed.

3. The headless dude is pretty much the same as #2. The officer pulled over the guy on the motorcycle and mentioned how no bodies or evidence was ever found. Pretty much he retrieves the corpses of the victims so nobody knows what happened.

4. Jason was pretty much invincible in the other movies. This one he's a living breathing and in a few parts even bleeding creature. He's more human in this movie and actually shows that he has a brain. In the other movies it was like he didn't put any thought into anything he did.

I really liked this movie. I'd give it about a 4/5. I liked it because I seen some things in this movie Jason had never done before and that's what made it interesting. Jason was a beast in this movie and had emotion. I definitely recommend this to anybody that's a fan.

Checked it out the midnight showing thursday night...I'm a friday the 13th fan I got the box set and all...in my mind it's one of the best I wouldn't say best but it's up there. I like Michael Bay but he really just needs to stick to high octane action films (Bad Boys 1/2, Transformers 1/2). He is also slated to direct the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. I bet money he tries to make Freddy Kruger more human as well. I can't wait to see how that works out. But the new Friday 13th movie was a damn good remake. move was dumb and insulting to my intelligence .....my expectations weren't all that high cause i'm familiar with the chessyness of this franchicse but i still was let down......

For one like ole boy said since when did Jason ever kidnap and keep his victims alive? Last I checked that nigga was a coldblooded killer that murked anything or one that stepped foot on his set(Camp Crystle)...but cause the bitch had a locket with a pic she get a pass? And if the ho was missing for 6 months why didn't she starve to death or die of thirst? Don't tell me Jason was ordering takeout or bringing her a doggie bag from Piccadilli?

I thought Jason had superhuman strength so why was he constantly getting helmed up by the blackdude and the last whiteboy?

When Jason pulled that whiteboy out the bus what happened? You would have assumed he kilt his ass but the whiteboy comes back a scene later without a scratch on him...Not to mention Jason had plenty opportunities to kill ceratin victims but just push them down or threw them around.

Lastly when Jason was in that head was stuck in that grinder thing why not put his whole body in it so he would be teared to shreads? No these dumb honkeys only let it scrap the back of his head then dumb him in the river..

The name escapes me right now but it was directed by Rob Zombie and it basically showed Michael Meyers from his childhood and explained why he was killing people and why he was after Jamie Lee Curtis. That is the only movie I saw on opening night. It was really good. I guess I will go see this one though.

Yah I agree. it wasn't enough of jason's trademark noise that he usually make. only did it when he found that hockey mask. also, the killings were pretty much simple jus like all the old jason movies. but yah it was pretty good overall...3.5 out of 5 i'd say. I think my bloody valentine 3d was much betta tho...

this movie was dope as fuck. the series needed a re-boot. jason faught carrie's little sister in part 7, was teleporting in "jason takes manhattan," which takes place mostly on a fuckin boat, changin bodies in "goes to hell," and a fuckin robot in space in jason x. let's not forget about part 5, where the killer turned out to be a fuckin paramedic who somehow had the same strengths and killing style as jason. i'm glad they put him back in crystal lake and made him human. i would've liked an answer as to whether he actually drowned in the lake as a kid, though. i guess that's part of the mystique. the good more than outweighed the bad in this flick. jason acted with logic most of the time. he wanted to be left alone and cleaned up the messes (bodies) he left. he set traps and alarms for anyone that tried to steal his dro. he actually RAN, instead of walked after people who were running, and then somehow appeared right by them. people forget, even though he's all fucked up and deformed, he's not mentally challenged. he knows how to get shit done. did anybody see the fuckin wheelchair in jason's lair? that was from part 2. i wanna see where they go with the next one.

@ CaramelKaang, the chick was held captive for 6 weeks, not months. i assume she ate when jason ate, because he obviously had to eat to survive 30 years, and everybody knows that when you smoke weed, you get the munchies

@ bawler16, michael bay didn't direct this film, nor is he directing the new freddy movie. both are produced by his company, platinum dunes. that means he gets most of the bread without having to direct.
