Having sickle cell makes if difficult for malaria to survive in your red blood cells. People in high malaria areas with out sickle cell had a high mortality rate so people with sickle cell were able to survive and pass on the genes.
Very cool Prodigy is talking about this and raising awareness.

I made a Documentary on sickle cell and P, you were definitely my inspiration for it! My cousin (who's a big fan of you) told me you had a song about sickle cell and played it for me, i damn near cried.

Don't give up an hydroxyurea just yet! I was apprehensive too when it first came out, but it really works!

I wanna thank you and T-boz for bringing this disease to light cuz not alot of people know about it (still to this day, crazy aint it)

i kinda feel what p's saying about not taking his medications, because you can become addicted or adapt to the effects they have on your body. eventually, it can get to the point where you can't survive w/o them. my dad's a doctor, and he's always saying things like this, so p can't be too far off.
