I like Gary Payton and all, and I think his name would "look" good on the roster, but ultimately, Earl Boykins would perform the best of all the names mentioned..But I wouldnt be mad if GP is the one they sign...

Yeah like you Profit101 I'm questioning his real motivation. I've always been a GP fan and I'm glad he finally got a ring but I see team chemistry being the biggest factor. The Celtics have 2 roster slots so they have to use them wisely. If he's still in shape and can be in some way productive why not?

I use to like GP when he played for seattle. But i hated him when he came to LA. He fucked our season up. Phil had to switch LA playing style up because GP started to bitch about the same Triangle offence that got us rings before he came there.

I think GP would be good as a teacher to Rondo. Rondo does have potential, and is already a decent defensive player, so havin the added knowledge and experience of Payton could be very beneficial. As for his role, I don't think there's any way possible Payton is jaded enough to think he would be anything more than an added bonus to their shallow bench.... But as far as being a workhorse in practice, and a vocal leader, he would be very useful.... If they can work something out to where he can join them, I see no real reason not to pick him up.... The good outweighs the bad.
