Everyone calling the rappers hypocrites:

obviously these are the ones that need to be doing the most damage control. Every1 acts like when hip hop needs some positivity that Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and LB are supposed to jump in a phone booth and change clothes.

They have been doing the positive thing their entire careers. The ones that get the negative light are the ones that SHOULD be doing the psa, just to counteract all the bad press.

LB, Common, Kweli etc. fans aren't really the ones that need to be reached with this message. So a PSA from Mos Def isn't going to reach Fat Joe's violent fanbase (not meant to insult Joe's fanbase-Im a fan myself). Fat Joe has to do it himself. That doesn't make him hypocritical, that makes him layered. Every human has at some point contradicted themself, rappers are no exception. Give 'em a break.

And give them some kind of credit for trying.
