Lets Be Real. The Labels Control HipHop. No Disrespect To The People Featured But "These People" are actually working for the label. Of course they are not going to say anything to distort the thought process.
Peep The Tree:
The "Label" Distributes The Music, The Producers and Radio Stations Create & Select The Music For "The People" Dictated By The Label. The Radio Station Is Void Because Its Not A Label, More Like A "Funnel". "The People" Then Decide Whats Hot Because "The Label" Sent It Out There.

The artist on there grizzly knows that the hustle always wins. The DJ was the first one to spark the people and that’s what sparked the labels to sign the artist. Hip Hop was meant to be shared. Much respect to the DJ’s the gatekeepers, especially the founding fathers Kool DJ Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Grand Wizzard Theodore.

Hip hop is a lifestyle from dressing, graffitti to music. Uv got club party rap, gangsta rap and i could give other examples but ill say the style eminem rhymed about "im paddling in a dingi makin fun of ya yacht, and 'i cant rap anymore i just murdered the alphabet. I think its easy to talk real shit but true hip hop is creative rhymes and styles.

1st it's the labels, then the radio. we don't control shit! cause the major labels will tell you what you should rap about. if you rappin about upliftin you won't get sign. and the radio refuse to play artist like krsone, p.e. brother ali, artists that will make a differnce! they rather play songs about slidin up and down poles, smokin purp or any other name weed, or gang bangin, or killin one another!

YES, the people can be manipulated. Here's what it is: the people can't have an opinion about the music that never gets heavy rotation. The people only hear and judge what they hear the most. What gets put out the most? What gets platinum sales? Party music. So one must ask, would the more skilled artists, such as Serius Jones, get better sales if THEIR work was in heavy rotation as opposed to artists like Yung Joc? I think so. Because if the people were overwhelmed with skilled artists, they would have to look elsewhere for anything else. And most people are simple listeners, so they'd go with what's put out there by the labels.

The Artist: Little to no control and many times are at the mercy of the other three parties in the BEGINNING stages. But as the success grows, so does the influence and then the artist can become a major factor and start to control certain aspects of Hip Hop
The Labels: The most power overall. They are the ones who manufacture and distribute to the people, and in turn the DJ's/Radio and enable the artist to reach the people. But by doing so the other parties are at the mercy of the label. No label=No artist, No Music= Nothing to provide the DJ/Radio, and thats equals nothing for the people.
The Radio/DJ: The are very powerful also. They per-sway the people and influence the artist majority of the times. Although labels push products theses people push the movements.
The people: Also very powerful but easily influenced by all three parties above. Alot of times the are NOT in power because they dont know how to exercise it properly until someone comes along and shows them. A good analogy would be a herd of sheep. Thats what the people are for the most part.
After all of that, I think that the labels have the most power and ultimately control hip hop as a WHOLE. I believe they have a majority of control over the others. Thats my opinion.

the word control is a verb, a verb is a part of speech that express existence, action or occurence. Control is defined as excersing restraint or direction over;dominate, command.
after understanding this i feel the record labels are the only sector of the four elements of Hip-Hop that was not present during establishment of this culture.
Hip-Hop is for the people to enjoy. the artist and DJ are the only elements of hip-Hop that can generate $ at it's beginning. Graf artist and B-boys didn't gravitate towards the $ aspect as naturally as the artist and dj did in hip-hops conception. even though the artist and djs currently may or may not be motivated to be involved in Hip-Hop cause of $, the likely hood of them makin $ as a result is quite obvious.
So since artist and dj's are makin any amount of residual $$$, naturally who will most likely make a sucessful attempt make a residual amount of $ from Hip-Hop if you are not a rapper,b-boy,dj, or graf artist? RECORD LABELS. Y u ask?
collectively the amount of $ that the people have gave or given to the rapper and dj is drastically higher than the amount of $ invest in these 2 elements of hip-hop.
even though the artist and djs currently may or may not be motivated to be involved in Hip-Hop cause of $, u can not rap or dj if u can't eat or support yourself(this is quite obvious too!). so despite the fact that the artist,dj, and record labels can make residual $. the labels are providing more $ to hiphop in effort to make a large amount of $.
hip-hop has evolved to the point were artist/dj may be able to compete with the labels in regards to $, but the dominate and commanding force in Hip-Hop is $. because u need $ to live and contribute to the culture. the radio station is nothing but an avenue to promote and support 2 elements of Hip-Hop.like the artist and dj, radio is controlled by labels who pay them to play whut the think people like. since their are differnt opinions on whut the hip-hop community likes, we are really blinded/sheltered by the more popular avenue(radio) is providing for us.
Obviously $ makes the world go round and labels collectively have more. even though the people pay them for music,we really don't control how, where, when and whut the provide for us because Hip-Hop as a whole is divided and over populated within certain elements. The lables can decide whut is the best to sell. the control hip-hop by offering multiple products while makin more $ to keep a restraint or direction over;dominate, command over a sucessful culture and source of income! shits crazy cuz

On some real shit, I think each artiste PR support is what determines who makes it in this business. On some real shit, the reason why dudes don't get that support is cause people ain't given a chance to like these artiste cause of lack of their exposure. how come Kanye can make it big on the roc and NO OTHER ARTISTE ON THE ROC CAN MAKE IT. So i think you need to make good friends with them to get anywhere and make sure u got good PC rep with creative strategies to get people to think their stubbling on some rare good music. The people need a chance hate or love something(labels need to stop worrying about how many ppl goe like there artiste and just focus on bringing forth what this artiste is about and to as many people as possible). Cause can't get real fans untill people decide that they really want to support you(not just hear you when the radio/djs force you to hear shit). people need a chance to like/hate shit so the more people you can get to listen to your inna non-pressure situation where they can determine what they want to support thats when you'll get lifelong fans. Its like in the old days when you have these artiste comming in the r&b and rock and all the genres of hip hop. No1 was tryna force the issue and make every1 sell like the beatles, they displayed the plethra of artiste on display at the time and the ppl decide who they would support. So you got a more dedicated fanbase and in the time where music can be accessed without any financial benefit to the artiste, dedication is the most important aspect of his fanbase. So as big shug said on "play it" a song from his new album "Street Champ"... lets the music play. Then from there the ppl will decide who to put there hearts and money and dedication to.
Check these cats out.

fo real, I think it's all of these cause the lables can choose when the best time to bring out a song is. A rapper could suck, but if the lable brings his song out at the right time, it'll prolly reach top 10 on the charts. It's sickening how it works dat way. Also, the radios can choose whether or not to play a song so radio stations can control hip-hop in their area where they are palyed. People control it also cause we da ones buying it and giving them money to help the record lables promote and get radio plays.

the radio controls hip hop because the people arent buyin dj unk, huey, and boosie but those are the artist getting shoved down our throats on the radio and in clubs. and the thing is ppl would buy their albums if there were different types of rappers out, but there arent so common will make a killing in sells.
