YEAH WHEN DOES THIS AIR.....I CAN'T WAIT....I'VE SEEN THE ORIGINAL PLAY ON TAPE AND I READ THE PLAY...BUT I NEED TO SEE THIS IS THEATERS AND SO DOES EVERYONE OF MY GENERATION....

I saw this in the theater three years ago in the Hackney Empire... and it remains one of the most powerful shows Ive ever seen... Brilliantly delivered by Lennie James (from snatch) as Walter Younger and the grandma who was also the grandma in soulfood.

dam... having watched that video Im kind of upset... and feel like this story is being cheapened with superficial celebrity... and i mean look at these comments "Sanna is hot" ... wtf... once again black people make me feel let down... and once aain its american black people... just from the clips of Diddys performance I felt no passion within him... he's not a fuckin actor... he's just self indulent... actin like he gives a fuck abou the struggle of black people... only struggle this fool knows is carrying heavy suit cases to the bank.

THIS MOVIE IS GONNA BE A PROBLEM....

smh...they makin it into a movie...

when diddy was doin this on broadway, every review said that the rest of the cast was great but that diddy was wack and ruined it.

the original version with Sidney Poitier is a classic - go watch that instead

A powerful movie/message about family, love and most importantly been black and proud. i learnt something from it and i think it's important that we share whatever we learn from it with one another maybe we can spark a dialogue and share experiences. my favorite part is when Sanna Lathan (forgot her name in the movie) made a remark about how she does not love Sean Combs because of his shortcomings and bad decisions and Phylcia Rashad said love is when you love someone at their lowest, when they hit rock bottom and not just when it's all good or something like when they are on top. It's a powerful message that i think we all have to take and run with and understand. Folks watch the movie and please enjoy it. I'm proud of the whole cast especially puffy as it shows growth and depth of a well earned journey! All casts get my Oscar
