Complex: Everyone's been waiting on this video. Can you take us through the making of it?

Drake: Yeah. The video is directed by Kanye West. Basically we decided, as opposed to taking ourselves super serious, we just wanted to have some fun with it. Myself, being a young man, a young single man at that, I kind of wanted to be real about the way I function with women at this current point in my life. Which is, I don't have one woman that I call my girl. There's different girls in my life that play different roles and I see at different times, but collectively they kind of make up the roster of happiness for me [Laughs].

Complex: Understandable. So what's the concept?

Drake: The concept of the video is, I'm a coach at a high school and the girls of my life are all on my high school basketball team. Throughout the video you see us prepping for this big championship game, and my team ends up losing. You see the looks on their faces at the end of the video, but the moral of the story, I guess, is win or lose, you can still be the best to somebody. When women see the video and see all the breast and %*$, hopefully they don't take offense. Hopefully they see the real meaning.

Drake is horrible. He's swingin' on Weezy's nuts a lil' too much.

Maybe it's just me, but I believe I get the concept of the video. The point is, it takes more than looking like the best and having someone telling you that your are the best, for you to be the best. You have to work hard and have talent. These girls only worked hard at looking good and they didn't care about learning the game, they just wanted to be told that they were the best. They thought they could get by on looks alone. When they got on the court  and reality kicked in they looked like a bunch of fools. Drake represented what a lot of us men  believe today, as long as you have a dimepiece on your team you can't lose, but in reality he ended up losing big because he was focused on the wrong things. Yet in still the video has nothing to do with the song so it throws people off of the message.

I just met Drake at the Awards show; level headed cat it seems. Wish em the best in his career as a musician.

As for the video. (And keep in mind ya'll this is what I do as a Filmmaker):

I can understand where there were tying to go with the concept but Visually and from a cinematic perspective it lacked a lot of story telling. The concept Drake explains is not what most people will get from the video unfortunately. But I think that's mainly do to Kanye West not being a Filmmaker and not really having the experience to story tell thru film and visual art. It was real simple yet fun!
