Rapper Saigon was arrested yesterday morning after police allegedly found a gravity knife inside his vehicle.

Police stopped the rapper for a traffic violation near 11th Avenue and W. 29th Street in Manhattan around 1:30 am,

When officers searched his vehicle, they uncovered the gravity knife, a knife similar to a switchblade.

Saigon, 30, was charged with possession of a weapon.

The rapper's last court appearance was in February, where he appeared to answer charges of misdemeanor harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident in December 2006.

Saigon's ex-girlfriend accused him of pouring a beer over her head, while threatening to punch her in the face. He is also accused of grabbing the woman and using a car door to hit her left leg.

Saigon, who has appeared in HBO's hit series Entourage, pleaded not guilty to all the charges in February.

In related news Saigon is preparing his major label debut, Greatest Story Never Told which contains his latest single and video, "Come On Baby."

hmm...his album must be finally ready to come out. lol j/k but yeah that is a pretty bull shit charge, unless the knife was larger then the legal length to carry one in that state. i know here if you carry a knife bigger the 6 inches or something, you will get charged.

A knife !!!!!! come on. The hip hop police need to quit. The system can't stand to see a young brother (legally) in a comfortable financial space. They see a young cat in a nice ride and automatically think they're into some kind of mischief. GTFOH a knife though.... they could have let this one ride. They know these rappers are targets, if a cat tries to run up he gets cut, he'll live. Then again, maybe the knife is used for a hobby of his like carving, who knows ??

But real talk, if the police really knew hip hop, they would know that Saigon's a conscious and positive cat. Then again, that could be part of the problem they have with him. MESSAGE !!!! - Later K - Big ups to Saigon

Don't you have to give your consent for a search of your vehicle during a simple traffic stop or are the laws differant in NY and the cops can search your car on a wimb?  What the hell is the big deal about a knife?  Do they think calling it a gravitiy knife is going to inflame us?  A knife is a knife and even if you pull it on a person who is only armed with a stick you will be at a disadvantage.  They are reaching on this one.

I ain't never heard of a gravity knife. Myabe I'm slipping on my knife game. Either way, these rappers know the Hip Hop cops is watching. Just waiting for them to slip. They're going to especially gun for him (Saigon) because of his criminal past. They got to be more on their P's and Q's. Anyway, as Chamillionare's new joint says Hip Hop cops. Murder was the case and they blame me.

first off, if i'm not mistaken he's on probation or parole, probably the latter. When on probation/parole you have a 4-way search clause(at least in California, i'm sure this applies to NY as well) that enables any officer of the law, or pretty much any government official to "legally" search you, your premises, or your vehicle when ever wanted. I put legally in quotes since i feel it is a violation of our amendment rights due to the fact that one can be searched with out any provocation. Furthermore, when on paperwork you are not allowed to be caught with or be around any weapons even if they are possessed by someone else. If caught it is considered a violation of probation/parole. With that being said it's still a weak ass charge.
