I think this is good for hip-hop.  Everybody hates on 50, but dude has a solid marketing plan that's drawin a lot of attention to both of em.  Kanye and 50 are gonna profit from this, and frankly....50 can't afford another flop.  And yes sellin 4-5 million worldwide on your sophmore effort is a failure when you sold 12 million on your debut, and noone else is really goin plat from G-Unit.  He lost Game, and as it turns out....that was the best asset he had...the West Coast is big, and determines alot about the sales of hip-hop.  This is a good thing.

Maybe they're succeeding by changing the strategy. Leaking albums. You've got to admit that only a limited amount of people (on the inside) have the power to leak an unreleased album. You also have to admit that these leaks are hurting hip hop (and r&b sales to a smaller extent) than any other genre.

Kanye's album is killin' Fif's....I'm sorry.  I've said it time and time again, and I'll reiterate...FIF's album is NOT, I repeat, NOT a banger.  Personally, I like Can't Tell Me Nothing MORE than I Get Money, although they are both LEGIT bangers.  Outside of that, though, you will all see that Kanye's album has WAY more to it than Fif's...Kanye does have two miscues, in MY book, which are Drunken Hot Girls and Stronger, but hell, Stronger is gettin' MAD spins in Europe, as well as within these pop/techno type clubs.  White people LOVE that ish....but you can't tell me that isn't smart marketing....he has a street ANTHEM (how many people truly be feeling that way....that Can't NOBODY tell them anything:) and an international banger in Stronger (again, I personally don't like it, but I know a number of brothas, sistas, and OTHER folks who LOVE that cut).

Fif only has I Get Money...I'm sorry!  I think 50 is gonna have a STRONG 1st week, and then we will see HIS numbers fall off the most, unless Interscope purchases a shit load.

ALbum really isn't up to par with Graduation though...

Oh, and to the cat talkin' bout how Game was 50's best asset.  ACtually, I somewhat agree, because I think Game is better than Buck or Banks....but to say the WEST is so "huge" and all, I would slow up on that.  I lived out West, and everyone out there is bootleggin' EVERYTHING.  They don't pay for SHYT out west!  The state is the most notorious for bootlegging in the whole damn country, with New York a close second.  But the INTERNET is so damn huge out there, they aren't the "market" where the money is coming into for record sales and all.  That would be the MIDWEST.  Why you think Eminem, Nelly, and folks like that sell so much?  You gotta appeal to the midwest demographic, where folks still actually BUY the albums homey.

Oh well, this is all for record sales. Seriously, there's no comparing  their albums. 50 Gimmicks album is going to be full of gunshots and war stories from a life he stopped living a long time ago. Kanye's album on the other hand will be full music that he poured his heart and soul into. And even if 50 sells more records Kanye will know he won because the people will speak through boards like this one and they will say he has the better album. Kanye makes quality songs, while 50 makes typical tracks. 50 has gotten us all in such a debate over record sales that it almost seems like people are going to judge the albums by the sales and not the music. Think about it. Come Christmas time, no one is going to remember any song from 50 Gimmicks album, but the majority of us will still be listening to Kanye's album.

50 is a mastermind when it comes to marketing. Kanye's going to sell more albums then his last album because of 50. But he ain't out selling 50 on this album. And that dude that said 50's second album was a flop needs to do his research. He sold 12 million the first album and 11 million on his second album, not 5, not 6 and not 7, 11 million on his second album. He did about 5 for the soundtrack to his movie. That's 23 million records sold off of his first 2 albums. That's more then Jay-Z sold his whole career. I don't see any flop in those numbers. Don't late the hate takeover your better judgment and common sense. And even if he did sell 5-6 million world wide, that's better then what most cat's do in their whole career.

I've got both albums homie, and I can tell you 50's got some really hot songs(and thats what sells). Kanye's cd is a little boring, but I'll still fuck with it. If Kanye's smart he'll shoot a video for "Good Life" ft T-Pain and debut it 2-3 weeks after his album comes out on Sept 11. 50's got a really hot song with Akon that he prolly should have chosen for a single, but I guess the name might not be people friendly.
