I'm not putting faith in a IDJ estimate. Last time Jay Z was "on a pace" to sell a million copies in his first week, and everyone got caught up in the hype.  Then it was 850K. Then 700K.  He finally ended up in the 600K range.

Yo, substance and talent over controversy.  50 is a great showman in the realm that he always beef's with someone to boost interest in his music, he does go out and get good tracks to rhyme over but what is he really saying? i got both of the albums, that 50 and ye and i prefer ye. 50 is a one trick pony. its like the same songs from his other album. songs about guns, drugs and hoes. no substance. i been listening to that nigga say the same shit since he came out. he need to switch his style up like he said on that in the club song cause if not, he isn't gonna be around long like a jay or luda type of rapper.

its kinda funny how shit turns around. 50 is expected to sell like a million a week once his shit drops but when put against competition like kanye, he's struggling to keep the lime light on him because if you look at, anytime when 50 has dropped an album, who was his competition really. Yeah he took out Ja with his first album but there was a hype during get rich that was undeniable & ppl were intrigued. Hell ppl were intrigued if he's second album would live up to expectations as the first (which it didn't) which is why is second album sold so well. Not to discredit the massacre but he got lucky because of the singles he put out was catchy to ppl who don't know shit about real hip hop & plus the media really had him hyped up along with the piece of shit movie he had out too. In essence, he really sold his first album off of talent alone & thats because there was hunger pains there. Those pains go away once you make like 25 or 50 million dollars within 1 year after your album drops.

kanye on the other hand, even though he might do or say some shit that is off the wall or make you scratch your head, still cares about his music & the product he puts out. not to say 50 doesn't but its different because 50 does it to sell records, kanye does it for the art form & love of his music. the college drop out in my opinion was a more classic album than get rich just because of overall content & it actually captured true life experience that your ordinary person can relate too. I mean how many niggaz you know get shot 9 times then go platinum? ppl want shit they can relate to. talking about guns, drugs & how many niggaz a man can kill gets old after awhile but empowerment & postive movement never does.

Some of ya'll sound like fools "people hating on 50". Just because 50 has sold all these records doesn't mean he is good, the reason why he has so many record sales is because of MM and Dr.Dre. All of 50 albums sound the same and the people that buy 50 music just don't understand what is good quality music or they just settle for less. From Kanye first album, it sounded different than any other album at the time. His second album was different from the first, kinda like he using that "OutKast formula" going against the norm. Without Dre and MM 50 would be "insufficient funds".  50=hypocrite

well GawgaBwoy770 u have a point but when i say someone is washed up i mean they are not actually getting noticed. there are a lot of nice mc's out, but if they aren't getting any type of promotion via (tv, videos, record sales, mixtapes, etc.) then i don't consider them hot. and even though rap a lot and suave were before nolimit and cash money, i see more rappers imitating their formula, especially cash money. Look at paul wall, mike jones, etc. Those are h-town example rappers talkin about rims and platinum grills which is something that cashmoney made popular. Look at all these cats that do the same thing. its really too many to count. and as far as mac, that nigga is very nice with the flow, he just got caught up with a 40 yr bid so nobody will probably hear from him again. i would have to say he better than bun. I know a bunch of you saw 106 yesterday when they had both 50 and Kanye on the show. 50 compared himself to Muhammad Ali!!! He should have been slapped for making that comparison because Ali is/was a transcendent figure in Black America. Ali united us through his skills in the ring and influenced Blacks to stand up to the oppression they faced during that time period. 50 on the other hand just creates WWF style beefs just to sell records. We have been talking about these two ever since Kanye announced that he was droppin on 9/11. I think that most of you with common sense already know that sales do not equate to good music. So it really doesn't matter who sells more, at least to me anyway. However, I know I'm about to contradict myself but I hope Kanye does outsell 50. And I only say that because I want people to use that as a wake up call. Rappers need to add a little more substance to their product because there is a lot of bullshit on the airwaves. And I'm not hating on anyone in particular but if you turn on the radio you'll see what I'm talking about.  I'm not saying all the gun talk, and drug talk has to stop but it would be nice if they toned it down. Or at least balanced the ratio out somewhat.  I  haven't heard 50's new album yet but I'm sure it sounds like a mixtape with some new girl style songs added to it. Btu I'm sure he's not saying anything inspiring.
