Jive Records has issued a statement explaining the arrest of superstar producer/R&B singer T-Pain.

T-Pain, born Faheem Najm, was stopped driving a Lamborghini Gallardo in June, but his license had been revoked for being a habitual traffic violator, officials reported.

Police issued an arrest warrant on June 15 charging the rapper with a non-moving traffic violation and driving with a suspended license.

"He is a habitual offender," Tallahassee Police Department spokesperson Kathy McGhin said. "This is his third charge."

T-Pain surrendered voluntarily yesterday morning (November 2).

"T-Pain was given a few traffic tickets several years ago for minor infractions [a speeding ticket, running a stop sign, failure to pay]" a representative for Jive told AllHipHop.com. "These were mistakes that Pain made as a young man that just received his driver's license. He did not have the money nor the knowledge at the time to take care of them."

Jive shot down reports that T-Pain was arrested and clarified that he voluntarily turned himself in and scheduled his surrender with a local attorney and law enforcement officials.

"There was no bail and he was released on his own recognizance within a few hours…He will not miss any scheduled engagements."

T-Pain is scheduled to play at Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) homecoming tonight (November 3) at the Civic Center from 8-11 PM.

Other artists on the bill include Lil Wayne, Musiq Soulchild, Webbie, and Plies .

They don't mess around if your an "habitual offender".  My friend gets fined a minimum of $1000 if he gets pulled over, because he's been pulled over for driving w/o a license about 6 times.  He was in some serious debt with the county for a minute.

They say he didn't have the money, but don't you think once he started to get all of that paper, he would've paid it?!?!?!

@ Pistolvania 717,

Im with you on that bro...These rappers act ridiculous....I love hiphop to death but these rappers are immature....This is not the first rapper to do this act....Multi-millionaire 50 cent did the same thing aswell....until a few years ago the hospital or doctor took him to court for the shooting of 9 times and it cost like 32g's....That is penies when a rapper first gets a deal from a record company...

Yes, the traffic cops want to kill your culture... If hiphop entertainers would stop doing stupid shit than they wouldn't be 'trying to kill your culture'. Someone high profile in our culture needs to speak out against borderline retarded entertainers... My buddy in Italy thinks hiphop is all fucked up from the way the media covers us. If we didn't do stupid shit, they couldn't say stupid shit.
