Yonkers, New York rapper J. Hood is lashing out against The Lox’s D-Block record label, claiming the CEO’s refuse to release him from his recording contract.

J. Hood, born Joshua Hood, is signed to D-Block, whose CEO’s include rappers Jadakiss, Styles P. and Sheek Louch.

He was a member of D-Block for six-years until this past August, when he announced that he was seeking to be released from the contract because of a stagnated career.

"As all the majority of the fans out there know, I asked to be released from D-Block approximately 3 months ago and till this day I've yet to be released from the label," J. Hood revealed. "The CEO’s in charge of the corporation are refusing to sign the papers necessary for me to go free as a artist, and on top of that they even threaten to ask for money for the release."

The rapper is preparing to release a new compilation titled The Hood Is Back on his own imprint, ODG (On Da Grind) Entertainment.

He also has a catalog of unreleased material that he hopes will be released by the end of the year.

According to J. Hood, he was quite surprised by the CEOs' reaction to releasing him from the label and noted their business battle with Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Combs, who signed The Lox in 1996, owned the rights to the group’s publishing, resulting in their refusal to record new material for their new label, Interscope.

Combs finally gave the group more control over their publishing in 2005.

"They went threw a similar situation earlier in their careers," J. Hood stated. "Lets hope that's not what they have become....the biggest hypocrites. I have prepared numerous projects that are scheduled to be released before the end of the year just to show the fans I wasn't the problem in this ordeal. Thanks for the support from the fans."

D-Block Records was founded in 2001.

Artists on the roster include producer Vinny Idol , T. Waters, Team Arliss, 354 Entertainment, Reggaeton groups Chary Ary and PLF and others.

I give a damn. J. Hood has skills. I don't think he can sell millions of records, but he can definately sell a little something and make some money off touring. The Lox, as people who have gone through the same situation, should be men about the shit and let this nigga breathe. One of the worst things in the world you can do is restrict another nigga from eating on some petty shit.

It's business. Hood ain't put out an album...ok. But hood was eating for six years, he was developing his craft by modeling the LOX for six years, they represented him for six years. Now they supposed to let him walk away without any benefit of having him under their wing for that time? Nah, Hood, recognize (no pun intended) the work LOX put in for you to become the man and artist you are today and plan some kickback. Hood is wack anyway. Nobody gonna sign him even if he does get released. What people have to understand is that first, there are 2 sides to a story. so everybody calling the Lox foul need to hear the whole story first. Second, to get released its more than just signing a peice of paper. With labels there is always a bunch of red tape and politics. Maybe thats whats holding up the process. It takes some artists a year to get released. Sheek Louch even said he has no problem letting Hood go so I doubt they are holding him there intentionally.

@ Whiskey Sour

That's the problem though..The nigga wasn't eating and they know what that shit is like..Bottom line is they hurt that man career just as much as they helped it..When his buzz was a lot stronger he should've got put out..He's had an underground following for a few years now..If they ain't going to let him get money with them, they need to let the man get money elsewhere..If anything the nigga should give back the advance and they should go ahead and sign them papers..

How can he fulfill his contract when the niggaz won't put out one of his albums? Look it's like this..Get off the Lox dick and look at the situation as if you were in Hood's position..I don't care what a nigga taught you..If they ain't trying to help you advance it's get the fuck out of my way and let me do what I do..If I fail so be it, I did it my way..That's all the young nigga is trying to do because being around them might put him in a video or two and a few mixtapes but if there's no residuals coming from that shit and your family is depending on you to eat then fuck what they talking about..If you'd take his position without getting any money you'd be the dumbest muthafucka i've ever seen to not want to get out of a situation like that..

Tell him to tell me why. He was off before he did the dumb sh#t. He can get off if he makes a public apology on the internet. Make that apology nice and humble.”
