Virginia-based rapper Skillz continued his year end tradition with a twist for 2007, releasing a video for his annual "Rap-Up."

The clip, directed by Chris Robinson, features appearances by comedians including D.Ray Davis and Affion Crocket, as well as impersonations of various artists who made the news in 2007, including rapper-turned-singer T-Pain and Bobby Brown.

Also included in the video are clips of various news events from 2007, ranging from Paris Hilton’s teary ride back to jail to Cam’Ron’s appearance on 60 Minutes.

"It’s become a tradition now," Skillz told AllHipHop.com. "Like, if I don’t do it, people gon’ be like, "Why he ain’t do a rap-up. If I do it, every year I’m gon’ try to do it bigger and better. So this year, I hooked up with Chris Robinson [and] Robot Films. We made a crazy video."

While the "2007 Rap-Up" debuted on various websites on Dec. 27, the video launched yesterday (January 1) on Robot Films’ new internet video network Fresh (www.soveryfresh.com).

The director’s cut of the video will be available on Fresh until January 28. Speaking exclusively to AllHipHop.com while in the studio putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album Million Dollar Backpack, Skillz also made some predictions about the state of Hip-Hop in 2008.

"This year, I think the public’s gonna really get a chance to see who does music because they love the music," he said. "Cuz Imma keep it all the way funky: ain’t nobody eating like they was five years ago. So we about to clear all them people out that’s just f***ing with music or with Hip-Hop for the money."

While putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album Million Dollar Backpack, Skillz can be heard each Friday on E!’s Daily Ten, where he provides a weekly rap-up similar to the yearly version he’s provided for Hip-Hop for the past five years.

The rapper, whose real name is Shaquan Lewis, is also scheduled to appear in Japan with The Roots later this month.

Skillz alraeady dropped an album called Diary of a Ghostwriter. And that is how he gets paid, ghostwriting. People speculate that he has written for Shaq and Will Smith. He was suppose to drop an album years ago called I aint mad no more with Rawkus. But you know how that went down.

@Cnspeace:
Did I just see a Fayetteville State reference? I got fam that went there.

@ Boss up- that song was called "dont act like u dont know" or some shit like that. it was knockin tho. skillz is a talented rapper but i dont think he can make a HIT song, and in this business, thats what its about.

I was overall a little disappointed in the song. it wasnt as funny as some of the other rap ups. i dont think i laughed at all the first time i listened to it. maybe on that t-pain part. and the video? that shit was the worst. nigga had us all waiting until new years at midnight to watch that bullshit. on top of that, he prolly wrote this shit at the beginning of the year....nigga be lyin talkin bout "i dont think about the rap up until after thanksgiving." yeah right nigga, you aint doing shit the rest of the year. fake ghostwriter. how u leave out the death of pimp c?

@ ken_p

skillz is without a doubt 'one' ov the greatest in the game and and 'one' ov the best ever blud... period. he iz a heavy story teller aswel, u jst have a listen to 'imagine'. also he kills it with his freestyles.

he might not ov had a big commercial hit 'himself', but he has given everyother rapper one. thats where u get bare p's 'in this business' (if ur not producing) he wrote foxys hits in like 2miniutes.

fam, he does write the wrap up's at da end ov the year, thats why it features everything relevant right up 2 date. it dont take long for a good rapper to write a song.

also how the fck iz he a 'fake ghostwriter'??? lmao

if u listen to the end ov the song u wud hear him say '2many names 2say, so a big r.i.p to those that passed away'
its hard to shoutout: x1, big moe, stack bunddles, pimp c and the other fallen rappers that died this year, he still paid respect
