Detroit rocker Kid Rock has teamed up with Hip-Hop Icon Rev Run of Run-DMC for the Rock 'N Roll Revival tour.

The 29 city tour will start in Evansville, Indiana on January 25 and will wrap up in Toledo, Ohio on March 22nd.

According to Rev Run, the tour came about after Kid Rock spent time at the Simmons’ home, which was filmed and aired during this season’s hit television series Run’s House.

During the episode, Kid Rock bonded with Run’s children.

“We've become very close friends so we decided to tour together,” Rev Run told AllHipHop.com. “Our first show together was closing out New Year’s, while MTV dropped the ball live. We did [Run-DMC’s 1984 hit] ‘King of Rock!’ Saturday we performed together at the GM Fashion event. The tour should be a blast! He's a very nice guy. Very funny! And fun!”

In addition to appearances by Rev Run, Kid Rock will also feature performances by The Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts, and J. Geils Band Frontman Peter Wolf on selected dates.

These stars are expected to join Rock not as opening acts, but on stage together with Kid's expanded 11-piece ensemble, the Twisted Brown Trucker Band.

"We want to give people the greatest night of their life," Kid Rock said in a statement, "[We want to give people] the best party, the best music, the best show. And this show does all that and more."

The "Rock 'N Roll revival tour will kick off on January 25th in Evansville Indiana with Rev Run.

All respect due to Rev Run, a legend, a pioneer.

But he seems like he's steady reaching for more fame, like he can't stay out the game.  He and wifey just adopted a baby girl, he should be home taking care of home.  There's nothing left in the game for him to accomplish - and nobody wants to hear that rap and rock shit except white college kids.

It worked in '84, ain't gonna work in '08.

I THINK THAT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO THE LEGACY OF DMC. NOT THE TOUR BUT RUN PERFORMING KING OF ROCK WITH KID SMOKE ROCKS, I MEAN ROCK. I WAS AT THE RAISIN HELL TOUR, FRESH FEST, AND ALL THAT SO I CANNOT COSIGN ON THIS. RUN AND RUSSEL SHOULDBE ASHAMED OF THE WAY JMJ AND DMC WERE AND STILL BEIN TREATED. I LOVE RUN BUT NOT THE WAY HE IS GOING ABOUT THINGS. WHO WOULDN'T KILL TO SEE RUN DMC BACK ON STAGE AGAIN? OR EVEN SEE D ON RUNS HOUSE?

@drtha...I was actually thinking the same thing....@ poe..how the fuck is this good for hip hop...I thought it was a great gesture by run-dmc to say they'd never record as run-dmc again after Jay was killed....but it seems like Rev. Run is basically out doing his thing now and aint giving a rat's ass about DMC or Jay's legacy...this is absolutely meaningless to hip hop...but hey..i guess even the Rev has to hustle that cake too..cuz at the end of the day thats all this (and everything he does on that show) is about
