Memphis, Tennessee rapper MJG of the rap duo Eightball & MJG has announced his first solo release in eight years, titled This Might Be the Day.

The album, which is due in stores next month on Atlanta-based label 404 Music, is MJG’s second album since his 1999 solo debut, No More Glory.

404 Music was founded in 1998 by Nina K. Easton, the co-founder of former indie powerhouse label Ichiban Records, which included artists like MC Breed, Curtis Mayfield, 95 South and others.

The label suspended operations while Easton concentrated on running MDI Distribution, also based out of Atlanta.

Easton relaunched 404 Music in October of 2007.

"As a fan from the beginning, I always wished that I could have signed the group [EightBall & MJG] to our label [Ichiban Records]," Easton said. "We would have been a perfect match. Now it gives me great personal pleasure to finally work with a pioneer like MJG and be part of his movement."

This Might Be The Day is due in stores at the end of April.

THEY ARE A GREAT GROUP PERIOD, but MJG has ALWAYS been my favorite member, its a shame his name NEVER comes up in "the most lyrical" convo's.

I dare ANYBODY to find a lil wayne verse that can go head to head with ANY MJG verse.

It's funny because me and my homeboyz been arguing over this like who is the better out of Bun and Pimp since 94...The truth of the matter is Pimp and 8Ball got that swag but Bun and MJG are the more lyrical..Can't nobody lie and act like they didn't know Ball was that nigga back when they came out though..But lyrically MJG is better than a lot of people think..I'll be waiting on that shit..Oh yea, do anybody still have the 3 disc 8Ball Lost cd's..Tell me that ain't classic even with 3 cd's..That shit was like the down south version of All Eyez on Me with the guest features and the hard ass songs overall..He had niggaz from the Midwest, South, West and East Coast on that shit..

True southern pioneer. Much Respect!!!!

And AHH'rs need to stop trying to compare all southern rappers to Lil' Wayne because the south's reign is about unity and not about hatin on eachother. That's the reason so many different southern rappers are featured on each other album. Just because a certain rapper is your favorite doesn't mean the rapper that you don't like is trash. Let stop all this hate. I support all my southern rappers and if I'm not feelin' their music, I just want listen to them, simple as that. I wish people on this site will get to a point where, if they don't like certain rappers STOP LISTENING TO THEIR MUSIC! Now don't get me wrong, some of the criticism is waranted and not hate driven but why do some of you wait for AHH to post songs by rappers you don't like just to talk ish and crucify 'em all day? That's retarted. Here again, just don't listen to their music. Let stop this crabs in a bucket mentality and if this offends anyone, these statement must be about you.

Now, Let's support this MJG album and Puffy need to let dem boyz make that underground music like on "On the Outside Looking", "On To Of the World", " 8Ball's "Lost". Stop trying to give these Rap Ledgends a main stream sound.

Didn't "No More Glory" come out in 1997? Then it would b 11 years ago. Because "In Our Lifetime" came out in 1999 and "Lost" came out in 1998. Although I could b wrong.....

I used to think that MJG was more lyrical also but once I head that "Lost" disc, I kinda changed my mind. He went so hard on that album. I can remember back in '98, I would cop 2 32oz Budwiesers, a Black & Mild and sit back and chill while jamming that cd. As a matter fact, its funny you mentioned "Lost" because I was just chillin the other day and I said to myself I'm gonna start bumping that cd again. I actually listened to it on my ipod the other night inorder to fall sleep.

I hope this aint no bullshit.  IF he get the right beats and a chance to really just cut loose, Eightball and MJG might get that pub they had back when they let out Space Age Pimpin on Suavehouse.  MJG and Ball both go hard lyrically, but MJG drops lines that niggas remember, although in "Lay It Down" 8Ball had a verse that was right.

8Ball:"Sunday mornin' I'm still yawnin' from the night before
So much sess in my chest from the swishers I smoked
Oh no who is this Ho in the bed with me
I remember the pussy but I can't remember her name G
Grabbed me a swisher cut it up and filled it wit weed
Hit that Ho' in the head and tell her to get out my bed
           you damn freak
Jumped into the shower for an hour it was hot as hell
Got dressed and ran a gold comb through my curls
Walking out of the house slow
Tellin that ho' c'mon let's go
First I crank up the music then hit the switch on my 6'4
Candy coated paint got the bitches at the busstop sick
And at the same time on my dick thick
Beat a bitch quick cause I'm sick
Full of swishers and malt liquor I'm a killer on them chicks
Aggravated halucinatin' tryin' to let go of my frustration..."

Damn that nigga was killin' it. Ain't MJG verse... I don't even have to say he killed it. Hell Crime Boss even had a hot verse on that track. Bout the only hot verse that nigga had.

when ppl say whos best, 8ball  or mjg, mane i just say its a tie, lol, cuz mjg lyrical, but  8ball brings swag to the track, its kinda like ugk, and outkast. nobody better then nobody, but there parnters, bring a diffrent flavor to the table. but ANDRE3000,BUNB and MJG are lyrical az hell. And BIG BOI, PIMPC, and 8ball, bring a swag on a track. dont get me wrong they got lyrics, but there partners are way lyrical.

think back & listen to how many tracks mjg slaughtered with the fast flow. I'm glad to see mufuckers on the boards supporting these niggas like this, cause these are some of the niggas I grew up listening too. some cats don't respect them as legends but they are..... check there catologue if yur not hip all classics.

all we need now is for tela to drop one more. that nigga is so ahead of his time listen to piece of mind.all his cds should have went platinum. all of were classics. don't let record sells full you, that don't mean the artist is good it jus means there popular. how many niggas you know that are popular that aint shit, see what I'm sayin.then you gotta think what demographic is purchaseing the majority of some these cd's that sell crazy. listen to the music yourself before you let these magazines & sites influence you. they aint nuttin but regular ass people like me & you that jus happpen to be in a position to publicly voice there viewpoint.shit some of em are biast as fuck anyway for numerous reasons....... but whatever ..... fuck em..
