Hip-Hop and Rock and Roll may differ on the surface, but remnants of the culture’s history are currently on full display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

Items featured at the museum include assorted flyers from Hip-Hop pioneers Saul Abbatiello, Afrika Bambaataa, Phase Too, Grandmaster Flash, Lovebug Starski and DJ Kool Herc.

The musuem features relics from the later generation of rappers as well, including a hat and eye patch from rapper Slick Rick, 45 rpm records from the late Notorious B.I.G. and a 1998 lyric manuscript for "Money," an unreleased rap song from Snoop Dogg.

Noted for educating the public on the history and significance of Rock and Roll music, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum features a library, various exhibits and archives that preserve the legacy of the music.

During its 30-plus years of existence, Hip-Hop has emerged as a worldwide cultural phenomenon that exhibits shades of early Rock and Roll in its dealings with human relationships, social situations and issues within itself and the society.

Admission to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum is $22 for adults, $17 for seniors (65+), $13 for youth (9-12) and $18 for adult Greater Cleveland residents.

Children under 8 and museum members are free.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week. The hours are extended until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.

That's what's up!  Can't knock it...even though Hip Hop should have its own hall of fame.  But still a good look.

What TonyMalibu said, Hip Hop should have it's own hall of fame.  They said it wouldn't last and that it was only a fad, but hip hop is here to stay.

I agree w/ TonyMalibu; Hip-Hop should have its own Hall of Fame. And we probably will someday. So those items are strictly on loan until we get one.

SIDENOTE: I think i have a copy of that unreleased Snoop track. It was on a Best Buy sampler from the late 90's. When i go home im gonna have to check. That would be a gem!

Yeah, you would think wit all da Jay Z's, and Diddy's, and Fiddy's that somebody would actually chronicle Hip Hop from it's early days to the present in a Museum form. Oh my bad, niggas too busy makin it rain on some dirty bitch...

This ain't the first time Hip Hop has seen the doors of the Rock and Roll hall of fame  Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was inducted in 2007 making the Turn Table a musical Instrument.

and about that Hip Hop hall of fame My opinion there is too much hate on Hip Hop for the "Man" to give us any credit. They can't stand how we broke through on the mainstream so they endorse rappers who say shit or shit on the culture that don't want too know what the end result is along as it states dollar signs in his bank account.

I went about a month ago.... nothing special. To see the little table of stuff, and the few things hanging on the wall above the table is disappointing. It's the Rock hall, so I guess it's better than nothing, but damn, it was very disappointing.

And the cost of admission was not worth what you see. Me and my girl were more taken back my Michael Jackson's glove and Thriller mask than anything.

I'm from Cleveland, but to be real, that museum is not for everybody. Wish we would have gone to the science center next door, maybe i would have atleast seem something of more interest.

it would be cool to go there. i agree that we need a hall of fame for hip hop but i also agree with what everyone is saying about corny motherfuckers being inducted as well as just too much hate and bullshit that would be involved with it. It would be just like fucking politics. Special interests and shit. Diddy would prolly have his own floor. Jay-Z would have a statue in the front and Plies would be trying to sell one of his rented chains to get admission inside. Do you just love hip hop...

Some of that stuff was displayed before. I went there a few years back & saw Biggie's 45 collection, some old GMF records, etc...nonetheless, it's a good look. Hip hip is being respected as a true American art form.

It's about time they recognized..

For all of y'all that are asking about a Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame, there have actually been a couple attempts to make this happen already. The problem is finding sponsors and a place for it. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is only in Cleveland because the city put up the bill for the building.. we tried it here in NYC (naturally), but the city gave the runaround and wasn't willing to give any concessions.

It would take major financial backers (Will Smith? Russell Simmons?) to make this happen, but no one with any real money has stepped up to the plate. A host city (with a donated building or land) would be a good start. Like the dude said.. "if you build it , they will come".
