Texas  legend Bun B and Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal will join forces today (July 19) to bring some much needed assistance to the Houston community.

The two superstars, in concert with the Church at Bethel’s Family Mission and Feed the Children, Inc. will deliver 20,000 lbs of food to 400 families in need during a special appearance.

The event will kick off at 10am at the Church at Bethel’s Family, located at 14442 Fonmeadow Drive in Houston.

In addition to having the opportunity to meet and interact with Shaq and the Port Arthur pioneer, attendees will be treated to a free cookout, courtesy of the Church’s pastor, Walter August, Jr.

The food will be provided by Feed The Children, a Christian, international relief organization based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The non-profit delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to families left in need of the basic essentials due to various natural and cultural forces.

In the U.S., the organizations works hand in hand with corporate partners, who provide surplus food and other supplies, and with individuals who help cover the costs of transporting and distributing the food.

Feed The Children packages bulk and individual distribution boxes, working through six regional distribution centers and over 50,000 feeding centers, homeless shelters, churches and other organizations to get the food out to the massed.

Dear Mr. WickedJones,

I agree that Bun-B is doing a real big thing here, but I was wondering how you see a person getting a scholarship guarantees a future as a CEO.  And he doesn't give us anything.  We pay for it (at least we're supposed to).  It's a fair trade.  We get entertainment, he gets paid.  If he doesn't entertain, he doesn't get paid.  You try to say "yaw" like you're not a consumer too.  Just saying.

i don't think dude said a shcolarship guarantees CEO status...but by having a good education you are closer to being that if you choose..and yes a lot of CEO's don't have degerees, we all know that. he's just saying if Bun went in another direction, just imagine how much good music we woulda missed.  niggaz always gotta reach!!!

@ KillaRell... I was actually paying bun a compliment by saying he could've been a ceo or something. The point I was making is he couldv'e easily went another direction, Instead of tapdancing for us...(yeah I said tapdancing)  he is one of the nicest emcees out there...bottom line is we are consumers instead of producers as a whole, and thats the problem from a world standpoint.

ok I'm from Houston and thats a good look for rap that Bun B, a LEGEND from Texas, who do that especially considering he's from Port Arthur. Good lookin out to Shaq Diesel as well considering that he plays for Phoenix. Wish their was more exposure on things like this instead of the negativity that the media chooses to show.

I'm not even going to entertain the idea of going to vega diamond's myspace to hear that bull shit! Ever since 50 did it now everybody thinks that a diss track will get them back into the game. Your promotion sucks and Koopa will lyrically dismantle you so go back and play your violin and figure out how to get a deal.

I'm sorry I had to stand up for the state I live in and love. Shout out to Bun and Shaq but probably the sad thing about it is that here is something positive that Hip-Hop is doing and the mainstream media will ignore it as usual. They quickfast to ask Shaq about his freestyle about Kobe but not a word about this.

Peace and love!

where are the Houston artists at? Bun B from Port Arthur and Shaq is an Army brat that stayed in San Antonio for a minute with his father.

I just think it's odd that out of all the Houston rappers, none of them thought of this.

and if they did do something like this at one time, why no publicity for it like these dudes?

besides all that, this is some good stuff and wish i would see more headlines like this more often.

Bun B and Shaquille O’Neal this is a wonderful good samaritan act that you all accomplished, not mention it was a great idea.  I hope to one day be able to help people this way.  Once my finance are the way that I want them to be, I am going to dedicate my life to helping the less fortunate.  Right now, I can't afford to but one day I will and when I do, that is exactly what I am going to do.

You Go Boys :>!
