Lil Scrappy Free on Bond After Stabbing
Published Sunday, July 20, 2008 1:50 PM
By Ismael AbduSalaam

Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy was freed today (July 20) on a $1,500 bond after being stabbed and arrested on July 18.

According to Officer Marcus Hodge and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the stabbing resulted from a domestic dispute involving Scrappy and his sister’s boyfriend in Dekalb County.

Scrappy’s sister allegedly called her sibling to her apartment on North Hairston Road due to an intense argument with her significant other.

Upon his arrival, Scrappy was stabbed in an ensuing scuffle, but did not suffer any serious internal injuries.

Despite being assaulted, Scrappy was charged with felony use of a weapon in the commission of a crime and felony marijuana possession.

The arrest was made after a search of the rapper’s vehicle.

In addition, Scrappy must contend with one count of police battery and misdemeanor obstruction of police officers.

While his role in the altercation has not been specified by police, the sister’s boyfriend was not charged with a crime.

Lil Scrappy celebrated the independent release of Prince of the South in May 2008. His third album, Grustle, is scheduled for release on December 5.

As press time, Scrappy and his management have declined to comment on the case.

Some of the names that rappers and record labels/companies give themself brings more negative attention to them, not to mention it makes the Feds, and police pay more attention to them, like Death Row, Murders, Inc. and then rapping about things such as "fuck the police."  Now this is something that brings a lot of attention and controvery.  This only pisses the police/feds office and make the a thorn in there sides more often then not.  Some of there lyrics invite the police to harrass them.

@slimturk, he isn't a one hit wonder, he had other songs like "No Problem" with Lil Jon, "Neva Eva" with Trillville, and he was the one who produced Crime Mob. Also, I dont think he was being stupid, dude was defending his sister, that's what he is supposed to do.
Yes a lot of rappers are getting charged and locked up these days but that shit has been going on, I have at least 2 or 3 copies of XXL and the Source with rappers behind bars but I do think that Lil Kim was right when she said something about the hip hop cops on her song "Durty". I think they make a point of harrassing these rappers just because they know who they are and they wanna see them fall. I mean, you have everyday people that get harrassed by the police so what makes you think they don't do it to artists? I never hear about a country music singer getting charged and I know they damn well they break as many laws as we do hell. Im not saying these rappers shouldn't be held accountable for their actions but I do think they harrass them because of who they are.

The point is that they choose who they are. You don't see country singers on DVD's that you can buy anywhere smoking blunts, holding guns and talking wreckless. Every damn rapper is a gangsta, goon, thug, drug dealer, killer, shooter or whatever. So you talk all that shit and think that nothing will happen to you??? You don't need no Hip Hop police because everything in hip hop today is sooo blatant, what do you need a special task force for to decipher a rap song. If you say on record that you sold millions of dollars of dope on such and such street but than cry because you get harrassed. Get tha fuck outta here. These rappers are dumb as dirt today and they just getting it. You don't walk around the city telling people that you broke into my house and I am just going to be like ok. Every action has a reaction, just these dumbass rappers haven't figured it out yet.

Ya'll need to quit trying to shove shit off blunt smoking rappers and see the facts that shit is also corrupt with our allustrious police system and the mufuckas that run it.  Go through some of these small towns down south with that "it's all rappers image bullshit" in a suit riding in a nice car and see where your mufucka ass would be. P.S the hip hop police do exist, they don't have special cars their just like a special unit of the police. In New York it was shown they exist to crackdown on hip hop artist

LMAO!  You made me go back and look at his hairline...you a fool!

@everybody on here

Look, I have to agree with a number of people on here who talk about people "bringing things on themselves" and what not.

YES, the laws were created to f*ck us, the minorities, over.  Period.  No one can deny that.  But outside of that, we bring a lot of dumb sh*t on ourselves.  Smokin blunts on DVD's, threatening people, hell, even in our music, which, I am guilty as well, of supporting.  YES, there are always exceptions like what happened with Mos and Talib...they are exceptions!  But seriously, some of these cats get what they deserve because they are NOT responsible with the sh*t they do.  I mean, it's one thing if you pull someone over, plant some sh*t in they car, or just harass them for no reason.  I've had that happen....

It's a whole other thing if you pull someone over, harass them, and ALSO FIND WEED/DOPE/GUNS/etc...in the car!  See, they done went and found some sh*t on you, and you wanna scream how foul they are, but are they really?  You were breakin' the f*ckin' law dumbazz!  Get ya sh*t together Mayne!  Seriously, artists have all these clicks and potnas and stuff...you need to find them cats that will RIDE OR DIE for you on some real ish to keep distance from you and whatever it is you are getting your hands on.  I swear, every week someone is gettin' arrested or what not...Now let me go read about DMX's crackhead azz gettin' arrested for the 80th time this summer...

Oh, and to what I was saying...

Yes, there are obviously Hip-Hop police out there, but many of our artists COME from doing DIRTY sh*t...what's to stop them from investigating them?  It's kinda like when Chris Rock was talkin about the difference between Pac & Biggie's deaths vs. Malcolm & Martin's....

Malcolm & Martin were ASSASSINATED....Pac and Biggie were MURDERED.  There really is a difference people...

Same goes with these cats getting arrested...there's being HARASSED (driving while black for example), and then there's being ARRESTED FOR JUST CAUSE (rapper was imitating a police officer or some dumb sh*t...lol)

As for Scrap...

I say good for you in taking up for your sister, but I would check her too.  She BETTER leave this niccah alone now.  If I get out, and my sis is still messing with a niccah who was beating her azz, had me fighting him, got me stabbed, and now I'm arrested...she better be done thru  and thru w/that sh*t.

It's a shame...I've been in his position before.  Hope his sister's head is on straight...doesn't sound like it tho...because she called her brother, who happens to be a known RAPPER to resolve the situation...= bad move...

They profile niggas regardless in Dekalb County for nothing. Fuck Dekalb county police and these politicians wanting more police in the streets of Dekalb county. Everywhere I go I see cops on every corner cruising looking for a case. Dekalb county is a police state. They should put that money towards that sorry ass school system that Dekalb county has.

Don't get me wrong.  We all know that there are police that harass and profile INNOCENT people on some bullshit.  Those are the ones that deserve our support, not these idiots who just can't leave the life alone.  Please save all the justifications for the youngstas who don't know any better.  I've heard enough "crab 'n the barrel" comments to last me the rest of the year.

Only props I can give Scrap is for protectin' his sista.  Shoulda left the weed at home though homey.  I can see why he had the gun.....ya never know what you might be walkin' into ..................HOWEVER, something tells me that the gun probably wasn't legit either ( just a wiiiillllld guess ).

Also I betcha you didn't know that Dekalb had plently of police officers using deadly force without just cause in the last couple of years.. There was grand jury about this earlier this year and the federal government recommended that the Dekalb county police dept needs to stop racial profiling and under go diversity training.
