Jimmy Iovine Still Running Interscope

A representative for Interscope founder Jimmy Iovine has denied reports that he has been replaced at the company has founded.

Rumors began to spread after a blog post implied that the label was in turmoil, due to a number of artists being dropped from the labels roster.

Additionally, reports that Busta Rhymes was dropped and the weak sales of 50 Cent and G-Unit's Terminate on Sight helped perpetuate the rumor, which is false, AllHipHop.com has learned.

“The story is complete nonsense and it is utterly untrue," Peter LoFrumento, Executive VP for Univesal Music Group, told AllHipHop.com exclusively.

Before founding Interscope in 1990, Jimmy Iovine was also a critically acclaimed producer.

Via producing and Interscope, Iovine has helped guide the careers of a number of popular artists, including U2, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Nelly Furtado, The Black Eyed Peas and numerous others.

According to the below and some other sources I checked, he produced it.....not wrote it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_N_Roll_Nigger

Either way though, Jimmy has done a lot to contribute to the degredation of our culture through exploitative music.  He is responsible for some of the most influential rap people in the business.  Unfortunately, alot of those individuals did not initially OR do not carry a positive representation of our people.  I've always thought of him as one of those leach type characters that make money from promoting negative African American stereotypes.  Yes, so do alot of other industry execs, but his name is attached to arguably all of the most influential ones.  IMO.

I'm curious.Do the Rumors force the people involved to speak out OR are the rumors rushed stories that with a little more time would get the full facts/truth?(thus not being rumors at all)
July 23, 2008 3:16 PM

Tommy K. said:

@ NightFall

a combination of both. For the most part they are rushed stories from weak sources. As soon as they are confirmed they are not rumors anymore. Reason why stars respond is because they don't want to stop there cash flow. Like if you were a famous rapper and there was a rumor that you and your producer was gay (nh) then you are going to address that ish.

Good looking brah! At least I know somebody else on here is paying attention. Jimmy been eating off the beef, the degradation, and the exploitation of our music since the deathrow days so who knows when, if ever, it will finally come to an end. Stay strong Black Man! Lets make a list of Jimmy's artist (victims)

Tupac
50 Cent
Dr. Dre
Snoop
Game
Suge Knight (I know he is not a artist but still relevant)
and it keeps going

What troubles me is it seems for him to get involved with your music there has to be a dilemma involved or one made up! He is especially fond of artist that have been shot! Jimmy is the George Bush of the music industry!

Yeah I can see your point.I guess coming up as I did I was taught that gossiping and spreading rumors wasn't cool. But it seems to be an accepted part of business now.Had this convo last nite with a guy thats behind the scenes on a lot of things.Oh well, it is what it is.

That's whats up.  Most people don't even peep dudes track record.  It just seems to be more than coincidence or luck to me.  Apparently some writers peeped his game too cause they outted him in some rap magazine story last year ( can't rememeber which mag ).  He's one of those behind the scene puppeteers that orchestrates the madness, while the puppets (rappers) are more than willing to put on a minstrel show for the world to mock.  At the same time, the artists are the ones that take the heat for their controversy while Jimmy is laughing all the way to the bank.....image in tact.

The song in question is by Patti Smith and if you know what it's about it's actually very ANTI-racist and it talks about how being involved in rock music in the 1970's lead to being ostracized from the general public. It's about being different.

It has nothing to do with Jimmy Iovine.

Jimmy Iovine, love him or hate him, has done a lot of good things for music...   Look at the whole interscope label, even beyond the hip-hop parts and you'll see they have shitloads and had shitloads of talent on their roster because of Iovine
