Atlanta rap star Young Jeezy is personally taking steps to prepare local youth for life in the classroom, with his Back 2 School giveback and bowling event.

The rapper, along with Corporate Thugz Entertainment (CTE), the Boys and Girls Club and V-103 DJ Greg Street, will host the event, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today (August 2) at Metro Lanes & Games in Atlanta.

Free backpacks, clothing, sneakers and school supplies donated by 8732 clothing, Brand Jordan, Nike, Akademiks and Pastry will be given away to kids in need.

The Back 2 School give back isn’t the first time Young Jeezy has used his celebrity status to benefit young fans in Atlanta.

Last year, the rapper and CTE presented the first ever Toyz n da Hood, a week-long toy drive and charity event series.

The series, which took place in December, presented 1,000 toys for 1,000 kids at various locations in Macon and Atlanta.

Musically, Young Jeezy is preparing for the release of his third album, The Recession.

The album is slated to hit stores on September 2.

I'm with "PEACETOTHEREAL1" some rappers are to negative in their raps then try to do good.  I'm not knocking what Jeezy is doing it is a good thing but what you promote in your raps cancels out the good you do.  Its like a drug dealer selling drugs to his community and get rich then turns back around and throw his community a few dollars and gifts but, the damage is already done.

This imaginary drug lord is doing it right, he's playing imaginary savior.
Now, people are allowed to change but if he comes with this new album talking cocaine and killing black folks then he's glamorizing the fuckshit that keep lawyers, bailsbondsmen and the prision industry paid.

But Jeezy is deep though. I remember when he spit....
"They call me jeezy the snowman
cause i got ice
plus i got snow, man."

Now how may other sincere artist out there have the mental capasity to rhyme Snowman with snow, man.  I couldnt do that until at least 3rd grade.

The real beef i got with jeezy is 1 he's from Augusta GA, not atlanta 2 the "trap" on Barton chapple road (google map it. i didnt.) he rhymes about didnt exsist. the fire station is on barton chapple road.

And then theres his mouth.aint no way your brushing effectivly with a little ass jeezy mouth. always look like he hidnin a jawbreaker or some shit. baby mouth ass ni&&a

"First im gone stack some doe.
Then im gone stack some mo'."

Genius.

Big ups to Jeezy for doing this and I can't fault Jeezy for what he raps about. Most of the albums we call classics have much worse content than Jeezy's dope tales. Either you have to go back and condemn Doggystyle, Ready to Die, The Chronic, and the rest of those 90's classics or you have to leave Jeezy alone.

I'mInDaBANned
That’s a dumb ass question. Action speaks louder than words was true in the 19th and 20th century. in the 21st century words win presidency not action.
Jezzy's "actions" aren’t "speaking" world wide his "actions" aren’t on BET, his "actions" not on TRL, His "Words" however are in every hood on the globe. His "words" about black ignorance, ineptitude and criminal genocide are speaking louder than the bowling alley or back packs.

If he's a boss, he can push that message about school through his music. Its not that it's hard.

They call me Jeezy the back to school man

cause i give out back packs

so you can go back to school, man.

yeaaahhhh.

Fuckshit, but positive fuckshit.

Now about calling Jeezy hip-hop, let me calrify something.

Rock music, has hard rock, contemporary rock, soft rock etc
it has definitions within itself so it cant be stero typed like it was in the 40's 50's so it survives because all of its artist aren’t pitted against each other because they have thier own lanes.

Hip-hop is just as diverse but since it is the first black industry(we started rock but it was jacked) that we created and kept, they seek to marginalize it and highlight the perceived negatives.

Rap is a shell of hip-hop that basically talks of, drugs, cars, rims ,excess or instructions to a dance. its not brain food and its not "hip-hop". its rap.

hip-hop variants have a life lesson, political message or display of skill with rhyme cadences, flows that is metaphorically heavy often involving a degree of verbal dexterity.

Rappers rely on production over skill, if they have ablibs its usually as space filler on the beat because they have no flow.

I like rap and hip-hop but i dont get them fucked up.

Thats like saying Close-up is the same as Rembrandt. which is bullshit because close up is mostly corn syrup and dye. while Rembrandt is top of the line toothpaste that leaves your breath refreshed and your teeth free of cavity causing bacteria.

DGRUDGE-I'll never let a cavity lil bow wow me

pre'shate the love pimp knuckle. the teeth joint comes from my job. im in the Navy and shit. so i live in very confined areas when we aint on land.
so undefeated breath is fundamental.
a man can snuff you with one H-word. then you know, wispering and shit. you taking chances on hepititis just saying what up to a ni&&a.

some of these dudes is raw, see them eat, smoke then go str8 to sleep like what!? get up in the morning, smoke, eat smoke then want to tell you about the dream they had.

I be like did it involve being stabbed in the windpipe with a candy cane?

How about Greg Maddox throw a peppermint fastball a your face?

because if you dreamed you was gargling pussy scabs that was real

The way we sleep is on some triple bunk bed shit, so imagine somebody coming to wake you up. they got to whisper and shit.  smelling like a abortion dumpster.

So im always calling out ni&&as who breath is on smash.

its worse here because we got free dental and ni&&as still walking round here looking like dead prez stunt doubles.

I'm E-8 so i can let alot of folk have it if they disrespect my nostrils. So tell everybody to brush they shits before i give a order. Or if somebody piss me off. or no reason at all whichever comes first

That shit spilled over into the club and shit because now i assume somebody breath stank off top. im paranoid. so i be tell broads i got a breath phobia so dont look directly at me when we talk until you earn my trust. its real out here son.

So i rock a tooth brush in the front pocket while im at work, then i be off in the club with my shit too so they know im fa' sho with it. i got all the fly toothbrushes they match my fits and shit.

I agree, this is just entertainment people. SMH @ any grown ass man looking up to another dude he don't even know! I can understand where yall coming from on Jeezy rappin about slangin drugs but at the same time if he was rapping about something positive the same dudes wouldn't even listen to his shit! All he is doing is sayin what's pleasing to most people's ear! This is what most dudes want to hear, about how they can retire off selling dope without gettin caught, how many hoes they can knock off, how many cars they can drive before they die, etc.....
These rappers are damned if they do and damned if they don't! If he wasn't doin shit positive people would have somethin negative to say about that, "these niccas make all this money and don't do shit for their own people", I hear it all the time!
We just build each other up to tear each other down......
Im not making any excuses for what dude is saying in his songs but at the same time yall talking about him encouraging young dudes to slang, yall sound just like these white folks! You can't blame these rappers for what these teens do out here, blame the parents! That shit starts at home, they shouldn't even be listening to Jeezy for one, and for two they should look up to their own parents instead of a drug dealer turned rapper......

@miss dallas.... i understand what you saying about parents have to raise there own children and not put the blame on music...thats all to the good. but really these teens grew up different from you and i...(im assuming you are over 25). there not in the house before the street lights come on, neighbors want whoop there neighbors kids ass like they did when i was growing up, they dont go trick or treating no more, most kids dont even play outside, ....so what you think they doing..... there on the internet, watching videos, or playing violent video games.... now dont get me wrong im not excusing the parents because i do believe that they should raise there children to be a law abiding citizens, but in todays world...there peers, the media, and technology has more of an influence than parents... these kids think they parents arent cool because there older..they think there out of touch of whats popular in todays world. but just like my moms use to tell me "the game dont change only the players" meaning its just a new day in age.....but do these kids listen? (including myself) hell naw...we think we knew it all.  but our parents always new what was right from the jump.... my whole point is that these rappers do have a responsibility...there our generations civil rights movement they talk about what goes on in our communities... but dont glorify something thats killing our people...

MAINE MAN said:

@the trill.... its not attacking rappers.... its called  being responsible for the message you put out, being a role model, leading by example to a generation who is obviously lost. .....for instance...ya boi....souljah boy.... right. he has a song called throw some d`s on that.... i believe that was a wrong message to put out to the children who worship him. knowing his whole core fan base is teenagers. you see how they react when his songs play. thats what you call power. these rappers do not understand how much power they posess. look the two most influential rappers ever PAC and BIG almost had two coasts bout to bump heads......all im saying is if you gon talk bout drugs...then you should feel obligated to speak on the affects of it. it should be a no brainer.... tell them there are other avenuesout the hood than just trapping, rapping, and playing sports.
