Multi-platinum funk band War is giving fans more than enough reasons to enjoy their revered sound, with the release of a trio of live commemorative DVD and CD packages.

The multi-disc Avenue Records project, each titled Greatest Hits Live, will consist of a live DVD, a Blu-Ray DVD and a double CD.

The set, which also includes an exclusive War fold-out poster, was recorded in late December 2007 at the band’s sold-out performance at The Grove in Anaheim, California.

Among the song’s performed on the packages are "Why Can’t We Be Friends," "Spill the Wine," "Slippin’ Into Darkness," "All Day Music," "Gypsy Man," "Me and Baby Brother," "Galaxy" and "Outlaw," "Cisco Kid," "Low Rider" and "The World Is A Ghetto."

The Greatest Hits Live set marks War’s first musical release in 14 years.

According to the collective’s lead singer and founding band member Lonnie Jordan, demand for a live album has been present for many years, as War has endeared itself to fans, both old and new.

"The performance in this package shows that War is still going strong. We’ve never broken up," Jordan told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "We now have several generations of fans, and we’re very proud of that."

War will celebrate 40 years of existence next year.

Within that time, the critically-acclaimed group has released 19 albums that spawned 10 top 10 Billboard Pop and R&B singles.

Music from War has been incorporated into Hip-Hop with rappers such as Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Method Man, Redman, The Geto Boys and The Beastie Boys sampling various tunes.

War’s Greatest Hits Live CD and DVD set is slated to hit stores on Oct. 14.
