Lil Wayne is not content with his blockbuster 2008, as the superstar MC is already brainstorming plans for the upcoming year.

In an exclusive interview with BBC’s 1Xtra’s DJ Semtex, Wayne first reflected on his phenomenal 2008 year, starting with his favorite freestyle over his signature song “A Milli.”

“I’m not gonna front, everyone killed it. I haven’t heard a wack [freestyle] yet,” Wayne disclosed. “[But] I got to say that Jay-Z’s in the best version next to Lil Mama, she murdered it. And I got the opportunity to watch her do that live.”

Wayne also detailed that the beat for “Dr. Carter” was originally created for Jay-Z, but was then switched to him after his verses impressed producer Swizz Beatz.

“He had it for Jay, and he told me ‘listen, I got this record for Jay, but I just want to see what you can do to it,’” Wayne revealed. “After he heard what I done to it, the record was for me. It wasn’t no ‘I beat Jay out,’ I just did enough where I kept the record. That’s real, ask Swizz (laughs).”

Seeking to grow his ever expanding collaboration catalogue, Wayne has his aim set on two MCs: underground sensation Jay Electronica and dormant superstar Eminem.

“Jay [Electronica] is crazy,” Wayne stated. “He probably don’t even know that I know his s**t, but that boy, he’s cold.”

Wayne reviewed that he had reached out to Eminem before Tha Carter III dropped in hopes of a joint song, but received no response from the Detroit native’s management.

Now 2 million record sales later, Wayne is more forceful and direct with his request to Slim Shady.

“I’m aight with the raps, it’s ok to get on a song. I’m calling you out!” Wayne quipped. “Come on out. I’m not calling you out to diss me because I can’t f*ck with you. But come do a song. Please…with three e’s.”

Moving forward to 2009, Wayne is excited about his upstart label Young Money Entertainment and his young, hungry roster of artists.

“I’m so happy about my label. I feel like a basketball team right before the season and I’m glad about all of my players. We ready,” Wayne stated. “[I have] Tyga, Jae Millz, Nicki Minaj, Bobby Valentino, [and] maybe Lil Scrappy in a minute. We doing it big.”

Confirming his work on a new album entitled Tha Carter IV, Wayne promises that he’ll continue to improve as an artist.

Carter IV? It’s gonna be crazy because you know, I’m only getting better. Even though I’m getting older I’m only getting better,” he reasoned. “I’m in my prime right now and my light is shining very. Very bright right now and I know that. So I’m gonna take advantage of that. And I promise you, I will never fail you.”

Tha Carter III is available in stores now.

Ok. Here's what's gonna happen.

Remember the Jay-Z version of "Is That Your Chick?" The one with Twista on it? Yeah...but then Bleek got the song AFTER TWISTA MURDERED IT?

This is exactly what's gonna happen with Eminem if he gets on a song with Wayne. The verse with Em will magically disappear somehow and the song will a)never be released or b)will be released on mixtapes, but not mainstream.

That being said...I like both of them. Wayne can't F wit Em on any level tho. That's just what it is.

Y'all must be on that crazy ish. Eminem should be honored to work with one of the hottest in the game? Man... 8 years ago... Em WAS the game in terms of popularity... Wayne sold 1 mil first week, 2.3 total right now? Nigga... Em sold 1.7 mil first week, 10 million TOTAL. Em was a beast back in the day...

I have to laugh when a nigga will say somethin like, Em, Jay, etc. should be grateful to work with Wayne... when these niggas have already sold the records, made the hits, did the classics... Wayne still on his way to be the best in the game, he still need an universal classic like MMLP or Blueprint 1... in all fairness, Wayne still doesn't have more hits than Juvenile, don't forget T.I. still got more hits than Wayne right now...

Damn, it sucks to be older and have to tell these young niggas what the business is sometimes...

I'm always game when artists want to work with each other...

The cat schoolin' boys on how Jay and Em and them did crazy #'s back in the day, I actually agree with you.

I will say, however, we have to be careful comparing these "eras" of hip-hop, trying to say who's better than who...

I say that because the game has changed.  With the way the economy is right now, coupled with how music is stolen and "leaked" out to the masses right now, Weezy selling 2.3 mill is actually monumental.  I don't know if it would tally to maybe, say, 4 mill even 5 years ago, but I'd venture to say it would probably be something like that.

Hate it or love it, Weezy's #'s are incredible in this day and age.  You go platty right now, you are doing it WAY major.  The game ain't the same.  Technology is eating into these artist's sales...big time...

Kongrats to the dude tho...he gettin' his...

theres a reason why eminem's people didnt get back to wayne. em is mad down to earth. he did music with t.i. and some of the most commercial artists out there so i doubt it had anything to do with scheduling or any other b/s reason. he just probably dont like the nigga.

also, wayne begged him to be on his song but thats not flattering, thats actually showing your weak side. eminem is now more likely to diss the fuck out of wayne then  work with him. remember wayne kissed another grown mad on the lips and em dont fuck with them fags...hehe.

Thankfully, there's only a few on here, but I love those who hate Eminem, probly because THEY are racist and possibly jealous. Eminem is one of the greatest. Did his race play a role? Of course somewhat, because whites are (or were) the minority in Hip Hop, so it was surprising and somewhat controversial. But MC Serch was white, so was Vanilla Ice and Everlast/House of Pain, and non of them ever did anything like Eminem. Eminem is truly one of the greatest. His ability to switch up the flow, he has a good vocabulary, his vocal presence and originality and grade A stuff as well. Battle skills, he has 'em. Keep talking your white people bullshit and warning about opressors and shit.. whatever.

It's teribble that he hasn't come out with anything really hot though since the Eminem show. Encore was decent, but it was nowhere near his prime. He showcased some of his skills on the Re-Up mixtape, but "No Apologies" was the only song that I felt was "vintage" Eminem.

Honestly, and I hate to say it, but I don't know if Eminem can drop another great album. Of course I'll cop it, but I doubt it'll be great. Most people don't rebound or make a seriously tremendous comeback. It aint easy, even if you were once considered one of the greats in whatever you do. In most cases, once you fall off, you're never the same.

and another thing....why is all of the sudden these rappers claim they dont write down lyrics?

the first one i heard of was BIG and then JAY.....now Wayne and T.I just jumped on the bandwagon claiming the same shit.....dont get me wrong wayne has a good music hustle. but he is no lyrical beast in battling rappers.... i think the last MC who was and official lyrical beast (battling) is that nigga Canibus.... say what ya want, but that nigga had me listening closely and rewinding his freestyles off of a Dj Clue mixtapes....

i battle you on the net
i battle you in the flesh
i battle you over the phone, you can call me collect
i battle you over respect,
i battle you over a blank check
i battle you with a gun to my neck
i battle you standing over the toilet with my dick out
i battle you hand juggling a grenade with the pin out
in a stolen car with the vin number ripped out
drinking a guiness stout, doing a 360 spin out!!!!!

all my 96` 97` real hip hop alumni remember that shit...

thanks for the cosign MAINE MAN. im glad someone agrees that wayne, though talented, doesn't touch the talent that eminem holds.

as far as canibus. i respect dude and he is an extremely lyrical mc but i'm not a fan of lyrics as much as i am a fan of flow and canibus cannot flow. he also has made his lyrics so complex you cannot figure out what the hell he is tryin to get across. its as if he just skimmed through a dictionary and then wrote his 16.

its funny how i mentioned the song "say what you say" in my post and you mentioned canibus. the reason the whole beef started with canibus and eminem is pretty much the same reason its about to go down with wayne. canibus wanted eminem on a song and i guess there was a misunderstanding but canibus began talking shit after that and boom eminem gave him the business.

"don't compare me with a canibus or dre with a dupri"...hehehe, classic!

MAINE MAN said:

@druminatti.....yea he was pretty complex with his lyrics but to me back then, it was exciting...because you would ponder on what the word really means. those words he was spitting wasnt used everyday in the hood.... because im sure everyone up here has fail victim of trying to use a word in a sentence to someone in there hood, and niggas criticized him/her by saying..."look at this nigga trying to sound smart or white". when you really was just trying to sponge up some knowledge and broaden your horizons.

when i was listening to rappers who was crazy with word play like keith murray, canibus, and nas while growing up i became curious of what those words really meant...them niggas was crazy back then....i agree with ya though homeboy...

Lil Wayne's album is HOT though, don't let these niggas fool you. Tha Carter 3 is worth copping, it's selling for a reason.

Wayne needs to stop with the "Carter" titles. He initially made them to fill the void when Jay-Z was not around (his short retirement in 2004). Now, with the crackbabies liking his baby rhymes and corny punchlines ("hot like light".....WTF??), these kids flock to him and dress like him......at least in the DC area. You wont believe how many lost people try to be like Weezy in terms of dressing like him and rapping like him. Its sad that some coked up, syrup-drinking beast-looking rapper gets all the respect but Lupe has to work twice as hard to get half of the recognition.

I agree with D-Block; just cuz an artist is cuttin albums doesn't mean he can't be a fan of another artist. Who do you think inspires these artists?! OTHER ARTISTS!! Money as well but that inspires us all to do whatever it is we do for a living so it doesn't count. By the way- never been a fan of Em- I like his swag but his lyrics never did it for me-
