i'm not buying it.

That does suck. Technology is a gift and a curse. The music industry period is in dire straights but hip hop is gonna flatline unless someone seriously does something.

People want Dre to release Detox but I can tell you that won't happen. Look at the numbers "The Chronic" did. Because of that album, Dre is respected as an artist. If he drops in todays climate, the numbers won't come close to what has given him the comfort of being a respected artist. The Chronic went multiplatinum which is almost impossible in today's day and age especially thanks to dlding and bootlegging. It would tarnish his legacy on the mic IMHO if he dropped a highly anticipated album only for it to be downloaded and only go wood this time around. So for that reason, Detox ain't gonna see the light of day. Dre's a producer and getting that executive money, so I think we are more pressed for the album then he will ever be. Shit, its been coming since 2004.

Until illegal downloading is addressed and a solution is implemented, I don't foresee this Dre's album or countless others being released. Don't with my little rant, now off to brain storm....

First off, I think this story is bulls**t.  Everybody knows music labels release albums on Tuesdays so they can get a jump start on first weeks sales.  Why release an album at the end of the week and make your first week sales low?  So the story about the album being leaked and that is the reason they "pushed" the release date to September 8th is a crock of shit.  They were planning to release it on the 8th from jumpstreet.  Second, I think Raekwon's OBFCL2 is building a bigger buzz.  Jay not stupid, Rae is his only competition right now, so he is gonna do whatever to get his buzz bigger.  Doesn't matter, I'm still copping Cuban Linx 2 over Blueprint 3.  Not saying I don't wanna hear the new Jay-Z, but Raekwon deserves my hard earn money this time around.

Why does everybody who isn't planning on copping Jay's album seem to have commited some type of blasphemous act to those who plan on buying it?

simply put, Rae dropped a better album to me.... I don't listen to music for no other reason than to enjoy the music........

i can give about as much of a f**k as two drops of piss in a ripped straw about these dudes personal achievements, thats why i don't make top 5, 10, etc type lists........ none of that "off the mic" isht directly affects none of you dudes, relax and wipe ya mouths a bit...

some are gonna cop Jay, some are gonna cop Rae, some might actually cop both..... I know a dude who'd pretty much go to war over one denouncing Jay as the greatest MC ever, now this aint no late 90's stan type dude like most be, he's one, who like myself seen Jay evolve from the start to now, but nonetheless, sun said he not even ufckin wit Jay no more and he's one who probably knows every song dude recorded and everything.......

and lmaoooo@these fake soundscam pro's, the amount of units rappers move does nothing for your benefit, does nothing to solidify if an albums actually classic or not.... if you don't get paid to analyze the stats and trends of the sales, what does it matter, and what argument does it win other than one sold more than another?

Love Jay, own all his albums, but I wont be copping this one. This album sounds like trash. Funny thing is, its not Jay's rhymes. Its the production! Theres a couple of decent joints on there, but the rest is horrible.

Sounds like Raekwon and Skyzoo will have the better 'hip hop albums of 2009. Both albums are complete LAVA!

Why are NIGGAZ so critical of NIGGAZ???????  Jay-Z is an evolved artist that doesn't even rap about that street s**tanymore!  Listen to BP3...the best way I can describe it is "positive energy."   Some of the s**the is saying on there is damn commendable...like how you have to grow up, can't be stuck on stupid, etc.

I dont know people i heard the album and i must say that it is different but its not a bad different. I think people are so use to hearing the same ol' same so when something different hits the ear it sounds real crazy to em'..... i think its a hot album.....then again im from Brooklyn also so i might be a lil bias....  

I don't understand why people on here are concerned about record sales if you ain't gettin a check from neither of this kats. If the music is good then its good. Somebody record sales or release dates don't have nothing to do with if you gonna buy or steal it online. just release the s**tI don't care when.

When did your favorite rapper's rapper become the anti-Christ?  Jay too old?  He ain't the oldest rapper that most of yall are checking for.  Matter of fact, some of yall have been saying Jay too old for soo long, that, according to you, rappers should retire after they turn 30.  Yall want Jay to rap like Common, dead Prez, or Mos Def, but 90% of yall AIN'T buying THEIR CDs either.  If Jay did flip it and rap like that, then yall  would say he on some BS and he really need to retire cuz he biting such and such's style.  He making too much money... Anyway, enough of that s**tbut on the real, why is everyone going on about downloading takes money away from the artist. An artist only get about 8% of the store sale price. It's those multi million record companies that lose out big. If anyone is shafting the artist, it's the record companies, not the pirates. And Jay is a multi-millionaire anyway, so I'm gonna download this one for free. Consider it charity Jay, for all the albums I copped when you were coming up.

If artists wanna make dough, up your music game and make your dough from live shows. Even artist that sell over five million cd's will tell you they make more from live shows than from cd's. I know these pop idol, x factor musicians will disagree with me because their talent relies on the publicity machine. But in order to promote real music, download the cd's for free and spend your dough on the artists live shows. That way, your artists gets more money than they would have got from you and you get a good night out.

Just a foot note. Don't take what I said too literally. An artist will still have to make a few sales to justify their record contract. So if your artist has trouble going gold, then by all means buy the album so he/she can keep their record deal. For millionaires like Jay, Nas, 50 and maybe even Soulja boy(YUK), download it.
