Its gonna take a lot more then a mock funeral lead by curtis blow to get people to stop using the "N" word...I personally think that this whole movement to stop the "N" word is stupid. The only reason they`re marchin and having mock funerals about it is because of the whole DON IMUS situation...He called the rutgers team "NAPPY HEADED HOES", then to deflect blame, he called out the rap indusry and the "N" word, and our black leaders took the bait...So now valuable resources and time that could be used to better da community or fight injustice, is now used to STOP the use of a word that's been used longer than AMERICAN ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

NOTHING AGAINST THE NAACP, BUT THE "N" WORD IS AID OUT OF HABIT. with all due respect i think it's ridiculous. the NAACP s stood by and let a generation of Black youth deteriorate under their watch and then want to blame the children for it. The word nigger is not the problem. The behavior of niggers is the problem. I dont' see italians running out to ban guinea or guido, which they call each other. or an other race trying to retire a word.

It's an implicit statement just like not using the word bitch that the "victim" is too weak to do anything about it themselves. Take your cape off and raise your kids and stop indulging them. Stop having baies out of wedlock and start valuing yourselves. A word has nothing to do with that.

they got kids in santa ana and l.a. whose text books still call Russia the U.S.S.R. baltimore is worst. 50000 people die from starvation and disease everyday they so happen to be colored. 3 WHITE MEN are richer than 33 countries combined. 1 billion people live on a dollar a day or less. The unemployment rate for african american males in Ny is 55 percent. And this is what the NAACP comes up with???
Who voted for these guys to lead black people or any people?

Personally, I think they should change the connotation of the "N" word. It's not a word that I can see becoming as common as "dude" or "man". I think if society just let this word become a non-offensive word to say, society will also determine if it's a word that fits. Some words just become old and antiquated. If rappers stop saying it all together, it'll make that shift into being antiquated.

Better belive that another word will just take it's place though.

i'm sure kurtis blow, being the iconic and legitimately respected artists that he is, has his heart in the right place. but...

1. As said earlier, the word 'ni**a' ain't the problem, it's the behavior. Please see the 30th anniversary edition of "WATTSTAX" w/Richard Pryor, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and the Stax Records Roster. The word was used through the whole film, and it was absolutely beautiful!

And 2. Who says n**a in public, anyway? Ni**a's, right? As a rule or a law, it just sounds like another reason to put ni**as in jail to me. And Lord knows, we don't need exacerbate that problem.

At the end of the day, there are so many more important targets of our predicament. And we would be so much better served addressing those.
