SAD - Unfortunately, right now hip hop's the scapegoat because there's not enough balance in the music that's being pushed to the masses. Some blame the artists, some blame the labels etc. but we can't place the total blame there because labels, or any other business for that matter, stands behind the product that's sellin' - No sales, no record deal. We gotta support ALL hip hop (buy it) - Remember when the Cosby show was criticized because some believed that it wasn't realistic and a large percentage of our households didn't have a father that was a doctor and a mother that was a lawyer ? This is true, but that platform, on a major televsion network, did inspire a lot of our youth and made them believe that success was attainable through education. Hip hop inspires the same way for those that may or may not have the opportunity to attend college... but the sad thing is that a lot of our youth listening are lost and are emulating the negativity in the music. Most of them don't have a father or mother in their household that's guiding them and explaining to them that what they're seeing and hearing is what the rapper is doing to make a living and those conditions no longer exist for them... no one's telling them that, despite what they were doing to survive, they worked hard at becoming an MC and used their talent to write lyrics, perform, and used unique marketing skills to create a buzz for themselves. Now they're living in a manision, own businesses etc because they worked hard to turn a negative situation into a positive. Although most artists are genuine with their position and music, the kids need to be told the harsh realities of certain actions and we need to tell them "you don't wanna go that route". Some will listen and some won't, but the MCs have to let them know that this may have been my reality but it doesn't necessarily have to be yours. Sad but true. I wish we as a people had the strength to riot & protest like the Muslims did but we don't. How can we, went we listen to this B.S. all day, year after year, and hear is all the time with little to no objection? Too may of us apply those theories to our lives, conversation and women to really object to when other people do.

Cameron went on 60 minutes and said this dumb shit. Not 1 rapper came out to counter his dumb ass argument. We (as a people, I hated the shit personally) praised Little Kim, and gave her a jail countdown show on BET (OUR channel). I am sure the NAACP is tired of covering our asses when we don't deserve to be defended. NAACP needs to focus on true victims of racism. How can they help people not victimize themselves?

Lastly, snitching is good in some cases. Not drugs, cuz nobody made you do that, that is crabs in a bucket, there is no honor amongst theives. But murder? Rape? Everyone isnt a vigilante. Everyone isnt going to thug is out and hold court in the street. What about those people? Are your mama, or grandma going to ride for you? Or are they going to live in fear if the speak up after seeing a crime?

Simply put, they publish shit like this in order to stir controversy and create backlash amongst the urban black communities. All this attention does is further propagate their opinions so even if this paper reaches, say 3,000 people, it gets nationwide attention due to its controversial content. I agree the whole stop-snitching movement is juvenile but they use things like this to paint hip-hop as a whole as the antagonist in the situation. Not everyone in hip-hop promotes nor supports stop-snitching; a small minority in fact. But by using negative images, they've succeeded in getting activists to stand up and say hip-hop and rappers are the problem. Want proof that its been successful...check the number of comments on this. Regardless of our opinion, it's managed to get a response from people. The truth, however, is that the same freedom of speech and artistic freedom that artists use to justify their words and works is the same freedom that this guy can use. I don't agree with the cartoon but he's only using the ammo that's been supplied to him by the ignorant people of the industry...where's Cam'ron when you need him......
