I think Kanye makes sure he gets his samples cleared. I remember him saying something about the song All Falls Down. The original song featured a sample from Lauryn Hill but she didnt give him the okay. That's how Syleena Johnson ended up on the final track.

They have all this money and especially Timbo...he should know better.

Indian music or more so Bhangra music is very popular as an alternative to Hip Hop (im British wi Pakistani Parents) although i cant picture that hapenin. A lot of music that is produced by Indian DJ's in the Uk and US are all mainly 2 step or Garage beats with a mixture of traditional asian vocals. Okay to an extent until MC's go over board with lame lyrics.

Im fully backin dre on this simply coz

Okay maybe dre used the sample last time round but how many indian tracks have a beat originating from dre beats and slightly cut and scratch to sound slightly different,

One example ill give ya- DJ Sanj- Americas Most Wanted album has loads of dre beats blatantly COPIED Aarrrrrrgh this pisses me off, there are two tunes on that album with a Still Dre Beat and then theres another beat copying Busta Rhymes Night Rider Beat, Damn this sucks, they are hypocrites my god.

there so mnay other even one where tupac's tune lil homies is copied and the beat used and instead of rapping vocals are used.

Man the point is they need to know how many beats are being copied by them and then come and sue, Dre can retire if he finds out how maay of his beats are used and were talking 5 to six years ago minimum, hell be a gazillionaire with the lawsuits.

(p.s i dont even reckon they get clearancem on their samples)

King High..I feel u...let me tell u..I live in Baltimore I know a dj who opens shows for big acts in Baltimore/DC, etc..for people like KANYE...met Kanye. He now sends out cd's of rare songs that Kanye uses as samples. He pays this guy like $200 for a song that he makes hundres of thousands of dollars off of...I believe he got the sample for Jesus Walks from this DJ and we know how big that was...but bottom line..these producers/rappers have to know that they have to get all rights and paperwork taken care of before they use these samples for songs. Have to get clearances. U get sued now just for having a song that sounded like a song idea of someone...

Music is universal. The same way a prominent label/act in the UK can sue someone in the US for copyright infringement is the same way someone in India can, by having a U.S. attorney and doing business in the U.S. Record companies as big as Saregama have subsidiaries in other countries, such as the U.S., Canada, Continental Europe, etc. which allow them to do exploit their business here and abroad.
