Man you guys who are defending Jay-Z are so deluded.Jay-Z and co. As for the guy who says the claimants invoked the wrong statute and got fucked.You don't need a law degree you just need to fucking read.They obviously would have preferred the 76 statute but the original song was composed in 57 and therefore covered by the 09 statute which requires all CP owners to join in the case.Unless the 76 statute is retroactive,which the claimants could argue anyway depending on it's wording.
Guys are such dickriders they'd overlook common sense to defend their star rapper.I love Jay but doesn't mean i should lose my objectivity.

Shame on you dude. You come off as being way more educated than to make an incredibly ignorant statement such as this. Besides, what is so significant about the name "Osama"? OBL was just a patsy anyways, he ain't sh*t.

The original song title means "what a shame". I laughed at the irony that this song was sampled and disgraced it with "Big Pimpin". What a shame, truly.

Also, the singer was Abdel Halim Hafez. He died a long time ago, but this dude was one of the illest singers. It's possible that whoever owns the rights didn't know of the existence of the song until now? In any other case, there's no excuse several years to elapse before suing.

P.S. If anyone wants to hear an original rapper and not some recycled clone who regurgitates the same crapovich, come check me out on myspace. Look you all have to understand sampling has always been a part of hip-hop it is not like Tim and Jay just invented it 8 years ago. But you have to clear all samples if you don't someone can sue you and take you for evrything you got. Stop thinking that sampling is bad when it has been done for years. Stop it people if you were real hip-hop heads then you would know about sampling, from Rock to Soul to Jazz. Listen to some of the older rap music back in the day and you will see that music has been sampled for years. They didn't clear the samples so they are guilty, for all you younger hip-hop heads out there don't think just because a producer uses a beat that it is not cleared. SO you all are wrong on both sides for defending Timbo ( who originally produced the beat) and Jay for not having his lawyer clear that joint, and you other producers who are mad if you love hip-hop the way you say you do then listen to alot of these older albums and hear the music they sampled. If you hate on them, then hate beat makers like Pete Rock, RZA, Preemo, Dr. Dre, J-Prince for sampling songs which they cleared. Get a grip of your history with hip-hop before you go crazy with it. Hip hop has always been a lot about sampling; hip hoppers understand this. The owners of the original song obviously are not into hip hop. Even if they were, it doesn't matter. The owners of copyrighted material can sue if it is lifted without permission - that's why it is copyrighted in the first place...duhhh. It doesn't matter how long it has been since "Big Pimpin" came out or whatever motives people THINK the owners of the original material have in mind, it is their material and they have a right to sue and collect.

The cats talking about not sampling obviously don't know hip hop's history. It's cool to be able to play some original shit. Hell, I'm learning how to do that now.. but it's also ill to flip a sample and have people wondering where the hell that came from.

Hiphop does a lot of sampling and pays money for such. Ask the recording companies and producers or whomever. Else, leave it on the underground mixtape.
