Whoever said 50 is a marketing genius is misguided! 50 hasnt done anything innovative or new to market himself. Marketing wise, what has he done different than let's say Roxxane Shonte, who came out dissing people and called out everyone she thought was a competitor?

And creatively, 50 and Kanye are in different leagues (Kanye is in the Majors, 50 is in Little League). 50 tries(fakes) to portray himself as a gun bustin' gangster (he's known for BEING shot, not doing any shooting), while Kanye is able to be as creative as he wants because he hasnt boxed himself in to one genre.

Kanye was destined to win. Even if he didn't sell more records.

50 Cent is/was definetly the bigger star, but you know what? EVERYTIME someone mentioned 50 Cent or his new album in the past 3 months, they ALSO mentioned Kanye West and his new album. So Kanye West came in and road in on 50 Cent's coat-tails because Def Jam strategically put his album date on the same as 50 Cents.

50 Cent is by far Interscope's biggest rap artist (if not all genre)..at least his average sales per album.......(maybe Eminem is higher)....anyways....what can you point to and say Interscope did to promote the album. I got the feeling the 50 vs Kanye was more 50's doing than Interscope. To me it seemed like Interscope allowed the Timbberlake song to leak early, and the Robin Thicke song and video to leak 2 months early. Plus who knows the mess of "Straight To The Bank" "Amusement Park" and "Fully Loaded Clip" coming out within a month of each other. Now I'm sure 50 had a huge opinion and handling of the timing of single releases BUT not those leaks. And those 3 singles came out in late April/May to promote for his June Release (Before getting pushed back), which getting pushed back f--ked any work those songs did as far as gaining a buzz.

"Fully Loaded Clip"
"Ayo Technology"
"I Get Money"
"Follow My Lead"

all of those singles released BEFORE the album came out, ALL got radio airplay and ALL EXCEPT "Fully Loaded Clip" had videos. This alienated the shit out of the radio and listeners. The radio would play each song once in a while, instead of just having like "Ayo Technology"...and that being the only new 50 Cent song....they could push it and push it on the radio until it stuck. Instead they had all these singles and songs, they'd play one here and there and never give one single it's own legs to stand on and run with....each song never got the focus and time to grow like a regular single....And you know there's no way the radio is going to push 5 (Fully Loaded Clip would never be successful on the radio) songs by the same artist at the same time. Could you imagine 50 Cent having...even on the TOP 50....5 singles between June and September...that'd be ridiculous...all rap/urban/pop stations would seem like the 50 Cent station. That's why pushing one song...like "Stronger" close to the album release....and another song a few months before to begin the buzz and fans curiosity of when the CD is coming out like "Can't Tell Me Nothing" did.......is perfect. Not the way Curtis was handled, it was a jumbled mess.

50's promotional tagline was basically "kanye cannot outsell me." he had enough information about his past sales and everything, yet he didn't see this coming. it's not def jam's fault, it's not piracy's fault, and it's really not interscope's fault. after all, his nickname is curtis "interscope" jackson, arguably the label's top priority. while "curtis" is pretty good, i liked kanye's album better. it has more standout tracks, and 50 oversaturated the game with singles, while kanye did the opposite and kept his under raps better. i mean, the guy actually has a t-pain song that i like. i thought that would never happen.

@ Kevdanoizemaker...I gotta co-sign to the fullest!!! Curtis Jackson just has this cocky demeanor that's like F*** you, pay me!! What's crazy is that people think that's cool. I actually saw a dude who looked like he has never held a job and has never had more than $100 at any one given moment and he had on a T-Shirt that said "You just a window shopper" w/ dollar signs all around. I actually laughed out loud at the sight of him. My thing is, when 50 got that Intersope machine behind him, he could've really used his influence for some good use but he chose to make himself some paper. I'm not saying it's his job to save the world but he doesn't even see the way he's perpetuating issues that already exist. I actually used to KILL that "Power of the Dollar" cd and that was his best work by far. What he doesn't grasp that most other big artists do, is that once you reach a certain level of fame, money, and power, it doesn't work to still try to be "gangsta". Not only do you lose your core audience like you stated, but your new audience gets tired of that in a minute. Then you turn into MC Hammer who crossed over for that money, only to have your new "fans" turn their back on you...then he was left trying to make a "comeback" as a hardcore rapper to get some black fans again.

50 just needs to man up and face the fact that he don't have the hunger he did when he first got his major deal. He's living a different life and his lyrics don't reflect on what he's doin now cause he has no street element behind him to push out some good lyrics. 50 never was a great lyricist, he was just a good song maker and its apparent now. His albums have went downhill every year from Get Rich or Die Tryin to the Massacre and now to Curtis. Sad to say, he may have hit Camron hard with his disses but Cam set him up to lose some steam cause everybody's expectations was big and his album isn't bad, but it's not better than the other two albums. He need to step his lyrical game up and maybe people will give a shit, but Kanye is pushing out classic shit. Nobody wants to buy an album with a bunch of singles on it. They want something they just can pop in the cd player and ride to it.

First of all Preme is locked right now. Second 50 roll with more security than the Pope. Third, when 50 really got big, Preme had the feds all over him so there was no way he was going to be able to touch 50 at that time.

Now back to 50 Gimmicks...Does anyone really view this as surprise that he's blaming his label?? I am not surprised one bit. This is typical 50 Gimmicks. I'm sure 99% of the people who submitted something on here was a fan of 50 Cent when he was doing the mixtape thing all the way up to GRODT. Now he's transformed in 50 Gimmicks and people are tired of that. Plus he takes shots at HIS FANS!!! How many times has he came out and sai that his fans are stupid?? Plenty of times, and while it may be true that the masses are asses, there's no reason to insult or bite the hand that put him at the top of the rap game. How much more could have Interscope promoted this album?? This is all we've talked and argued about for months. My 50 year old mother even knew that both of them were dropping albums and she don't even listen to hip-hop like that. LOL. So I don't want to hear the sad story of him blaming his label. If Kanye didn't drop on 9/11 50 Gimmicks wouldn't be saying anything because according to the projected figures, 50 will have a platinum selling album by this time next month. He's had his run, G-Unit is dead. You notice that even though he wears G-Unit clothing, he never says it anymore.

He said on 106 on Tuesday that he doesn't care how much it sells, and that even if you have to steal it or download it, just listen the music. Then the following day you're crying to Angie on the radio about Interscope and your lack of sales?? I think even if he didn't get on Kanye all this time, Mr. West would have still sold more albums because people want to hear something else. People are tired of listening to these rappers talk about the same thing over and over again. Kanye's album may not be the best of his career but it's sure better than 50's Massacre and Curtis. Now he wants to go at Def Jam, like they were supposed to help him out. 50 is secretly tight because no matter what he does, he will always be second to Jay-Z. It's not about Kanye West. It's about Jay-Z, remember, he said he can go at both Nas and Jigga for the throne. 50 thinks that Jay was the mastermind behind the whole 9/11 album release so he's going to get at Kanye instead of going at Jay. LOL. I mean he tried going at Jay on 106 but what happened, the people there were ROC fans and 50 looked like he wanted to run off stage and go back to Connecticut. LMAO.

Congrats to Kanye for having a better album, but for letting 50 promote your album while only releasing 2 singles and 2 videos prior to the release day. Congrats to 50, cause you really are a marketing genius, retire from rapping, and use your skills to help the rest of G-Unit sell some records.
