These old niggas diss hip-hop and watch them blow up off un-cleared samples then wait until they rich and sue. That album is 11 years old. They waited so that gross sales could amass and they could strike oil. Puffy should've cleared that shit, though, so it is what it is.

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

@OSC-CEO
co-sign

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

Ya'll sound crazy, if you sample you have to clear the music it's just that simple. You mean to tell me if someone was making money off of your music you're not going to try to get money for your creation? They (Ohio Players) could of came out with the song in 1967 or 1997 it doesn't matter, you have to give credit when you copy.

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

yall should be saying F*K Bridgeport Music. They are the ones getting the cake. I bet Ohio Players are getting next to nothing if anything.

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

Nah, sue Diddy's ass.. And although 11 years may seem like a long time, you all know the courts run mad slow. its not like you go to the court on a monday and everything is decided on tuesday. its a long process that takes years. in all honest dudes probably went to diddy years and years ago to settle this issue. things most likely went back and forth with diddy iggin em, then you file the suit. courts are mad backed up so the trial date is set 2 years later. its not that inconceivable that things take this long in the court system. diddy shoulda known better. if he was handling his business instead of punching dudes in clubs, he wouldnt have had this problem.

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

you do dirt

you get dirt

simple and plain

people ain't playin' with those samples anymore

but why now 13, 14, years later?

"7-cities VA"

norfolk
portsmouth
chesapeake
va beach
hampton
newport news
suffolk

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

PAY THAT MONEY CUZZ AND STOP CRYING HOOD THAT REQAL CUZZ.....

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

JUST COMIN THROUGH 2 SHOW SUM LUV..

_+88__________+88+880____________ _+880_________++8++88____________ _++88_________+8+++88____________ _++88__________+++88_____________ __+880_________+++88__________+++ __+888________+++888_________+888 __++880______+++88+8________+880_ __++888_____+++88++88______+++8__ __++8888__+++8880++88____+++88___ __+++8888+++8880++8888__++888____ ___++888++8888+++888888++888_____ ___++88++8888++8888888++888______ ___++++++888888888888888888______ ____++++++88888888888888888______ ____++++++++000888888888888______ _____+++++++000088888888888______ ______+++++++00088888888888______ _______+++++++088888888888_______ _______+++++++088888888888_______ ________+++++++8888888888________ ________+++++++0088888888________ ________++++++0088888888_________ ________+++++0008888888__________ _____..........8888888___________
re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

gotta get them samples cleared lol

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

@OSC-CEO said:
HUH? Puffy tried to get over and got caught! Simple as that. Can you imagine if you made a song decades ago that didn't make much money and then some new young niggas come along and use that same song to propel themselves to millionaire status and then don't give you a cut of the profits? What would you do? Hypocrite ass niggas, this has nothing to do with age and everything to do with Puff's shady ass trying to get over. And he got caught. And what did he do after he got caught? Re-issued the album, adding insult to injury. Puff is bold but he got caught and now he has to pay $4 million, which is what he makes in one month from his new fragrance.

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

@Grumpy

Co-Sign

Xerox is pretty salty right now and so is steve jobs.

lol
re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

pdiddy deserved dis shit anyway

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

Free T.I.

Free Puffys Money

2008!

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

Don't hate the Ohio Players, they legends. I remember a while back it came out that the Godfather of Funk, George Clinton was going broke because he did not own the rights to his music.

This is why I always stress that we need to control Black music and culture from the business side of things, because in most cases our culture is economically exploited by outsiders. A lot of times when artists sign recording contracts, there are details in regards to who controls the publishing rights to the music you create. You can license the rights to a publishing company for a certain amount of time, but a lot of times those older cats from the 70s were getting jerked around. Puffy is far more savvy in the music business than the Ohio Players ever were.

"Black Caesar"
http://www.myspace.com/streetweyezsayles

Dope Production
http://www.soundclick/streetweyezsayles

Kaser’s STAR PULSAR

PingBack from http://starpulsar.com/?p=3680

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

Fuck all that..Samples gotta get cleared plain and simple..publishing 101 and hell yeah The Ohio players getting paid...most pub deals are 50/50 split so belive they had thier publisher do the dirty work(as they should) so they could get thier CLIENTS thier $$$$...the real question is who tha F*** is that in your avitar INFAMOUS118!?!?! ...she look she need me

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

YOUR hard work and creativity puts together a unique recording...Somebody years later takes it and makes it their own...Makes millions off YOUR work...Of course YOU deserve credit....

pay em...

re: Judge Upholds $4 Million Dollar Verdict Over "Ready to Die"

OHIO PLAYERS ARE NOT THE ONES SUING FAM!!!
