This is the sort of thing where all those major labels making money from Hip Hop, and those artists with more money than sense should be giving back to the culture which made them... its good that fans are given the chance to make a small contribution to help.. but they shouldn't need too... lets face it, if a business profiting from Hip Hop did give money for this, a) they'd be doing the right thing.. and b) .. to them, its just a tax write off... so they gain too.. and look like the good guy.

This is not just a ploy to save hip-hops holy hollowed grounds, they are also trying to provide affordable housing for residents that live there currently.

This is definitely a good thing for HIP HOP, but I just think that its sad that a legend like Kool Herc basically has to beg for donations. All these rappers and supporters of HIP HOP need to make it RAIN. Donations should be pouring in just because. If BABY from Cash Money can walk around with thousands upon thousands of dollars on him, and we all know how rappers like to show off their expensice gifts - again the donations should be pouring in without hesitation. so many people have become overnight celebrities because of hip hop and the least we can do is preserve its legacy. I plan on giving a donation, i pray everyone else follows.
I see it like this the writers in hollywood went on strike, why wouldn't our hip hop artist go on strike to save this piece of history.
