@ Everyone: I don't think it's an actual rap beef. However, some people are covering it as such, but I have to read a lil more up on it. Dyson is borderline jive if you ask me. Cosby is correct in what he says most of the time. However, people just aren't used to him saying the type of political things that he says because they are used to seeing him as a funny man. I work @ an inner city non-profit, and a lot of the things he says are true and we do need to do better as a people in general. It shouldn't be looked @ as classism; it should be viewed as a muthapucker tellin' it how it is and how it's gone be and how we need to know better to do better. You can deny it if you want to, but live in reality and realize a lot of the things we do in general are ass backwards.

Also, whoever wrote this, how did it turn into a rap battle when neither of them rap? Why couldn't it simply be a scholarly discussion between intellectuals. Promoting beef is getting outta hand and sooner or later people need to take responsibility for their actions and the culture of animosity between people that they create.

I'm so glad that this article came up, because there is a lot to be said on this. I am all for Bill Cosby, everything he has said is absolutely correct of the mind-frame in the Black Community. What kills me about this is that the Hip Hop community, certain activist and prominent people that criticize Cosby for his remarks, are actually agreeing with him without knowing. Here is a good example when hip hop is under attack, the black community comes into question, do you notice that when ppl like Micheal Eric Dyson would go in defense by mentioning the same things Bill Cosby has addressed for years. Y'all want proof, look up through youtube for things like hip hop vs america, hip hop artist on hip hop, david banner, jena six. And compare their answers to Cosby, and you will notice that their all the same without them knowing.

As far as Micheal Eric Dyson's looking-for-a-fight hyper-active mid-life crisis ass, the quotes he speaks on this article are just assumptions, because no one knows the content of Cosby's album yet. This reminds me of anyone criticizing Nas' new album, but nobody heard the album yet period. So fall back on that. And just cause Cosby is a funny man, just remember, each comedian always have an in-depth message to speak on and for us to think about, that's one of the points to great comedy, to think and laugh. dyson is an opportunist, yeah he's a smart brotha, but he "aint" no dr. cornel west...he thrust himself into the mainstream eye with his attempts to capitalize off Tupac's life and death (he never personally met Tupac) in his publications and lectures....his claim of association with the streets stem from having an incarcerrated brother....
bill cosby is doing what most of our elders are doing....pointing a finger at the youngin's and shakin' it! i think he's right in most of his message, he just needs to go about talkin' to the youngstas and the young parents in a different way...his harshness offends because it makes us see a ugly truth....that rather its overstated or understated exist in "our" music...shit, they made kanye edit his song for say that when a brotha get paper he leaves a sista for a "w***e girl"! you can only blatantly call black women bitches and hoes in music, and you can only blatantly talk about killin' and sellin' dope to brothas in the hood.....name me 10 current songs (last 12 months) from genres other than hip hop that do that shit....i love all rap, but bill got a point.

Cosby's approach reminds me of a grandmother or a grandfather, having that tough love which has a good point and a good intent that leads to a great solution.
