Figured Def Jam would do the same. Chuck D was really reaching when he announced that he was going for that presidency...I knew that they weren't going to give it to another artist. Very few can successfully balance art and business, but to Jay's credit, I think he did. I think if he would have done even better had he been cultured to do so.

But anyway...I look at the overall picture of it. These are all BLACK MEN negotiating for positions and earning REAL money. Gotta love that.

Time to get back to business Mr. Shakir! I know you will do what you have to do to put Def Jam on top but also make sure that you focus on the culture of hip-hop and sign quality (hip-hop) artists like Def Jam use to represent back in the day.

Def Jam had Def Soul for R&B and thats how they kept their branding fresh and new. They need to go back to defining their hip-hop and R&B. Although "it's all "black music and it's all good" (Common-"I Used To Love Her") you need to have executives that are focusing on one genre or the other because how you break a hip-hop act will not necessarily be the same way you break an R&B or Pop album but I am sure you know this already. Only time will tell-congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
