KRS-One is an icon. Say what you will, but he's always put out quality work. He's stood up for ALL genres of rap during his tenure. Still, he never changed with the times and his message to have "knowledge of self" has remained consistent.

maybe the conscious rappers don't want KRS to be their self appointed leader although he does get old school props

but these we are the world one off type songs with ten people on it are kind of weak.

Let's hear any of these artists do a whole song saying stop the violence. and make a whole album out of it. (or are Emcee's schedules to heavy?)

But seriously can we stop any of this violence with all these drug dealers running around?
They're trying to do business. But the cops aren't going to protect that business so they are going to do it themselves and they do. Unfortunately this is what makes our communities so violent.

Even drug dealers don't want unnecessary violence but the thing is once you have a drug game going on there is no avoiding it.
Back in the day you would hear rappers say "crack is wack" and "leave the guns and the drugs alone"
But today the gangsters have taken over.

He talkin' bout them uppity-cats like the Roots, Mos Def, Talib and Common, not soo much Dead Prez I'm sure,cuz them cats will do it...But probably the above...But he got to understand that them cats is the same as the rest of them, that "concious-shit" is just a brand marketing thing, that makes them safe and an alternative (bread), that appeals more to opened minded college kids (bread), than cats in Watts, and affords them to do US /European tours 200 out of 365 because that demographic will always come out an support live shows (more bread),so in reality thier motivation is the same as say 50 or a Jay-Z, they tryin' to get paper. Ask Ahmir,lol.

Has anyone considered that the people that turned KRS-One down simply don't want to work with him? All because they don't want to rally behind a call from KRS don't mean they are apathetic. KRS be acting like he is the leader of a Hip Hop priesthood and everyone should follow. After all this time he wants to do this? It would have made more sense right after Pac and Big got smoked because then it was a rampant craze of violence associated with rappers and their entourages. He can do what he wants but don't get upset because some people may not see the need for your call to arms.
