Certainly a good look for hip hop. Lately we haven't been able to get any positive shine when it comes to large corporate patrnerships (think Twista and McDonalds). I wonder if Bill O'Reilly is investigating Lupe this very minute. On the flip side, however, how many hip hop artists can actually be looked at as role models for children?

The "Coke Side of Life"? For real? That isn't just corny; It's outright BS. I can see reaching out to kids, but I guess I'm jaded or something - I don't know what's refreshing or optimistic about peddling carbonated sugar water. There has got to be a better way to get kids to listen.

@J-Dubb - I don't know where you are, but over here in my part of Ohio dude is talked about like 45 cent big mac day and shit. I personally can't listen to him, his voice annoys the piss out of me, I know he spits some conscious shit, but I can't listen for more than a verse. All I'm saying is, if dude wanted to reach me, he'd write a book.

KRS One, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mr Lif, Del, Common - I would let any one of those guys babysit my son. I'm pretty sure they are all tokers, but so am I... So what is a good role model anyway? I would prefer my son to aspire to be Kool Kieth over some petulant mass murderer like George Bush or Dick Cheney or the board of directors of Coca Cola anyday.

There are places in the world where Coke is sold cheaper than drinking water. No Shit. Multinational Corporations are steeped in the blood of innocent people all over the world. Lupe's gotta make his money, and there are definately worse ways to do it...

I know I'm being argumentative, but I'm not trying to be adverserial, just been up all night reading these things and thinking up a storm, which, I dunno, maybe I should just keep my trap shut.

...all I'm saying is, let's not be foolish enough to believe, no matter how much we would like the world to be that way, that a corporation like coke gives a flying fuck at all about hip hop or urban youth or anyone or anything but that most omnipresent and all powerful of false idols...
