Kendra G i think that's a good idea. make sure you explain to those girls the purpose and reason that waiting to have sex is important! People always make it seem like a negative thing, but waiting until you are mentally, emotionally, physically, financially (condoms, birth control, raising a child if pregnant, etc.), and spiritually ready is the best thing you can do for yourself and the future of your family. In my opinion "waiting until marriage" isn't enough of a message unless a person has a healthy & strong value on marriage (alot of people don't). more importantly it must be a real and meaningful connection with another person on a level of love & maturity. I don't think there is a certain age or point in life you reach that, but there should be a decent amount of time spent with the other person in real life situations. I'm a 24 black male with no kids and enjoy the act of sex, but it's only meaningful and joyful when its with someone i love, have a relationship with, and know that we are growing/building together. After graduating high school is a minimum time to wait just because up until that point you are most likely living at home and have no idea how it would be to live and be with that other person. sex isn't permanent so it doesn't mean that you are stuck to that other person, but it's a good idea to only have sex with someone you can see yourself being with. i'm not the guy saying wait until marriage, but at least wait until you are old enough to have your own place and not feel like you need to sneak around. i have a lot of views on the matter because it's bigger than just remaining a virgin, because it's about taking care of yourself along with the responsibilities and everything else that comes along with sex. if you are in high school all i could ask of you "is to focus on learning more about who you are, things that you are interested in that will better yourself, and try to create opportunities for yourself to have a better." sex isn't bad for you, but sex will still be there after high school so don't rush into it. i know the feelings & hormones of being young are hard to ignore so try to find a trusted mentor you can share your feelings with or just try to find creative outlets to express yourself through (for example: reading for fun, an organization of interest, a club at your school or community center thats interesting, writing, sports, exercise)
I wrote that all quick so hopefully some of it made since and found someone that qot something from it

i'm for sex eduction also, but not in a traditional class setting. those old ways don't work so it would have to be more of a hands on virtual workshop type of education going on...
just because you know the reasons not to have sex doesn't mean you should not have the right to learn about it so that when you are ready for it in life you can do it safe and pleasurably. i can't assume everyone has good parents, but if you are blessed with active parents that genuinely care then they should be the first place you go for sex education

My emotions on this are so ambivalent. On the one hand, if you program a girl's mind to think that it's WRONG to have sex (even though we are all biologically hard wired to do so), then you set her up for feelings of self-loathing when she DOES have sex. Not to mention that by telling girls not to have sex, when the inevitable occurs, and they DO have sex, they won't be prepared (i.e. on birth control, with condoms).
On the other hand, with 1 out of every 5 Americans over age 12 having herpes, and 50% of Black teenage girls having at least one STD... something's got to be done.
I still say we stress safe sex in conjunction with abstinence.
