Hip Hop GM, her sexual preference has nothing to do with her being abused. Lesbian or not. That didn't stop the fact that she might have been abused (as so many of our black children have been). In fact, that might have contributed to her sexual preference at this point. Either way, it's not far fetched that she could have endured abuse. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised that a lot of these celebrities have been abused. The fame just compounded their problems not make it better. They are human, and they did have a life before they were famous, before the world knew who they were. I'm pretty sure her brother's death didn't halp matters any either.

I know a lot of things are done to drum up publicity. But Queen L doesn't need it. She's already past that point in her life/career. Maybe this is something she just never shared with anybody until now. Just because you know some things about someone, doesn't mean they discuss or let everybody know every aspect of their life. Because they don't. Just a thought.

I wish her the best in continuing to deal with this. As others have pointed out, abuse and sexual orientation are not mutually exclusive so one doesn't correlate to the other. Abuse of any kind is a crime of power not sex even if the abuse is sexual. It's about one person taking advantage of another seemingly vulnerable person. Since none of us know Dana personally (and if you did I doubt you'd be on this site) we should take this as an opportunity to remind any young people we know personally to speak to a trusting adult if they feel something inappropriate happens otherwise the long-term damage of keeping it in can be fatal.
