moments that moved me: beyonce's first acceptance speech, how she went straight to mj. trey songz little tribute on mic before they went to commercial. janet. ne-yo & jamies performance.

BET still takes a fail for the hype... hyping up that awards show to be a "michael jackson tribute show", saying justin timberlake was going to perform (attracting a new demographic of viewers), but they didnt live up to the hype. it wasnt all "for michael jackson"'d out like they claimed it would be. whatever to get ratings and press though right? hah. i understand they had only 2/3 days, they did a good job for only having that much time, but the fail is that debra lee went all out doing photo ops and soundbites on the news pluggin this "michael tribute awards show" when it wasnt even like that really, smh!

& shout out to joe jackson... some people just cope better when they have good company & their minds are occupied. i miss you michael.

The BET Awards sucked point blank IMHO. The only real highlight was the O'Jays. The rest was just a waste. And If MJ didn't die. Why did they perform "Every Girl" with girls who looked like they were about 12 on the stage?!?!?! The show had many suspect spots that a last minute tribute should not have affected. Words were slipping through those censors like crazy! The Ving Rhames joint was no good - Taraji and Tyrese was enough. Maybe another nite, but they should have cut that stupid dialogue altogether. Maxwell should have been the last musical act before Janet. And the closing was on point.

There were just alot of suspect spots that could have been omitted or monitored better. The bright spots were shining though. Jay showed that the mics were working cuz at first, it seemed like NO ONE's voice was coming thru. After him, magically, the mics seemed much clearer for the performances. And did Drake hurt his ankle or something - dude sat on the stool the whole time and from what I've seen from performances online, he usually moving. RIP Mike - Gary, Indiana's finest word up!

I understand that BET only had three days to try to put something together, but in my honest opinion, they should have had a seperate tribute show just for M.J.

That award show by far was the worst one I've seen ever! It just wasn't flowing as nice as I would have hoped. If MTV has something planned, I hate to say it, but its definitely going to be better than what BET did.

Ne-yo's perfomance of M.J.'s song was the best thing they had going and bringing Janet out was touching, I started to cry a little. Other than that...that show gets a whomp whomp.

Well I didn't watch all the disrespect and water down BET Award show. I only like Ne-yo and the era of Keith, BBD, and Guy that was great they out perform anyone that touched that stage last night. Soulja boy was terrible. Never was in the OJay's even though they are legends. Jamie foxx was crazy and I love him - he's real still. P Diddy was feeling it until he seen the real performer still got skills over 45.

Jiffa Jigga disturbed some people with his D.O.A.

Beyonce sounded beautiful but the out fit was to fucking scary, she looked like Glenda the witch from the wizard of Oz - thee original.

For the most part to me the shit was a disgrace and I bet you that white people will do michael jackson a better honor than the race he tried to distance his skin from. May the lord have mercy because Black folks than lost their soul.

I think bet scammed everybody for ratings. They say they revamped the show to honor Michael, that show was terrible. They should have either done their awards show or done an entire show for michael, dont scam us into believing the show is all about michael than give us that bullshit. Michael was a perfectionist in singing, dancing, he owned that stage, anybody can get up there and sing his songs but i wanted to see a show. Dont watch BET so I did not see any advertisement about the awards being a tribute to MJ...however, I did watch the show and noticed many references and pictures to MJ's legacy...for those who said that the awards sucked and they didnt honor MJ, blah, blah, blah...please tell me how you handled your awards show that you have been planning for months and after having to change it three days before the ceremony to honor a great legend. Wait a minute, you can't answer that because you dont know shit about producing anything. I am absolutely not a fan of BET, especially with all their bullshit shows, but I look past the obvious and understand that what they gave was sufficient given the circumstances. As far as a dancing tribute, that would have been great. But as some of you guys say, MJ is a perfectionist, and there is no one on earth that could have given an almost perfect dancing tribute to MJ wit just three days of practicing, even CB.

What would your post say if BET decided to have a separate tribute and only had a few "shout-outs" to MJ. I venture to say you would be bitching about that too.

Seemed like Gill was trying too hard, and Tery Songs seemed strained.. Tyrese brought it the most natural to me.

I agree with most of yall. MJ was too important of an icon to have this show dedicated to him. They shouldve just had the show as originally planned and THEN later on do a tribute. I know that they only had 3 days to prepare and plan but thats not fair to Mike. Hes given us over 40 years of his life as an artist and entertainer to have some half ass show dedicated to him! BET should really think about that and do something more proper!
Shout out to the O'Jays performance and achievement award and also to Alicia Keys and Wyclef! Drake and Soulja Boy, go kill ya selves!! Especially Drake for having girls younger than 16 on stage with him!! Get some WOMEN dogg! Youre 22 now!! And stop with the gay hand gestures when youre performing!

BET (debra lee), went on every news outlet saying the show was going to be majority about michael, majority michael dedications & tributes, when in actuality it wasnt. it was weak. dont go running to the media claiming you decked out the show when really its half-assed and unorganized. if i knew my show would have flaws i wouldnt go around promoting it the way she did. "its all about michael, it's all about michael" she kept saying. gtfoh. it's all about her ratings and profit.

The BET awards could've been better than it was but I think they did okay considering the fact the MJ dedication was done at the last moment....I really did wanna see Chris Brown or Usher do "Thriller" but VH1 will probably do an honor show in his name so all hope isn't lost. I found Lil Wayne's performace to be highly disrespectful and his little tree monkey lookin ass should sit in the audience next time since he has no respect, smh. Every song he sang has a radio version so was it really necessary for him to do all that cussing?
