If you grew up an 80’s or 90’s baby, you are probably feeling the obvious creative slump in Hip-Hop. Luckily there are some talented newcomers from all markets keeping things fresh as well as those who have been rocking the mic since first day. Case in point Mr. Sosa himself, AZ.

The man behind the classic Nas collaboration “Life’s A Bitch” from Illmatic is back to nourish the game with more knowledge on his latest release Undeniable (Koch). Though he hasn’t earned as much notoriety as his once partner in crime and fellow Firm cohort, he has put out a number of slept on albums and his current project attests that he is very much loyal to his craft and not in it solely for fame and fortune.

The twelve track LP starts off with the laid back “The Game Don’t Stop” and AZ’s signature fluid verses are ever apparent (“The game won’t stop / ‘Til the player get knocked / Or the sh*t flip flop / And you sittin’ on top”). The piano and cymbals carrying the beat takes you back to his single “Pieces Of A (Black) Man” from the album of the same name back in 1998.

The premise of this album is typical for the MC. Laid back mellow beats with story-telling lyrics. On the old school sounding “Life On The Line,” he spits his autobiography and why he’s still in the game.

He makes reference to his former collaborator saying “Nas got rich ain’t reach back, I ain’t riff yet.” With the insinuation that he has no qualms of not being put on at the same level, it’s refreshing not to have to listen to an entire album overshadowed by throwing dirt on anyone else and allowing you to focus on his capacity.

Other notable mentions include the horn intense “What Would You Do” featuring Jay Rush, the melodic “Go Getta” featuring Ray J. Produced by Large Proffesor “The Hardest” featuring Styles P. transcends into a more up-tempo hidden track.

AZ certainly proves with this album, as with previous efforts, that he is very much deserving of the title of one of the greats who hasn’t made it to mainstream superstardom. The younger Hip-Hop generation may not be able to vibe with his choice of melancholy beats, but if they want to hear from an MC whose lexis actually makes a bit of sense, they should definitely take note.

AZ is dope and way too advanced for this new generation of cookie-cutter MCs. He's stays true to himself and to his art form. Like Styles P, he's not influenced by commercial trends... he's in a class all by himself.

If you love hip-hop, cop this album.

Love AZ...

I always scratch my head when an album gets a seven or less, outta 10, but the actual review contains no negative comments. Makes me think that the reviewer didn't listen hard enough or just gave the current album a review based on the artist's previous work...or both...

Anyways....

I'm gonna cop this and so should everyone else who gives him love. Support this dude.

1. The Game Don't Stop-he starts off the album with a track straight to the point...its gotta an oldschool feel with a nice piano sound to it...definately have u knoddin ya head hook goes "the game don't stop/till the playa get knocked/or the shit flip flop/and u sittin on top/"

2. SuperStar-this is classic AZ, this track is reminiscent to his last album...the sound is fresh with a lady on the hook singin Superstar..."Coupes, cribs, chaueffurs and yatchs, gimme props/till i'm dead and my physical rot, i'm still hot/"

3. Life on the Line-he took it way back on this...personally this is wut AZ is all about...usin them old school samples and laid back beats, real catchy tune "blood set, crip set, g-unit, dip set/nas got rich and ain't reach back, i ain't riffed yet/"

4. Fire-now to me out of all the songs on the album this is my least favorite...not downin him lyrically but the beat could've been better for the same he used..."its an all day hustle i choose to grind/on the move, only food i refuse is swine"

5. What Would You Do (ft. Jay Rush)-now immediately when i heard this track i was like damn Jay Rush sound jus like Lyfe Jennings...now this song is an uplifting type of vibe, if u don't get out ya seat and knod to this then u are hearing impaired "u kno the story how the thugs live and worry/duck down in car seats heat mandatory/doggy since a shorty i've been speakin like i'm forty/wit a lil wayne frame big chains all gordy/"

6. Dead End-once again AZ takes an old school jam and flips it...i think its a Michael Jackson sample abc joint but i'm not sure

7. Parkin Lot Pimpin-when u read the title u may think he's dumbed it down...but not at all if u kno AZ u kno he's smooth and slick wit the rhymes, he's flossin his lyrics and puts a visual in ya head where wearin a gold chain and gold teeth would be somethin jesus would do...makes u wanna go out and show out  this has got to be one of the best tracks on the album...hook sounds a lil like Sleepy Brown

8. Undeniable-track speaks for itself...definately listen to this on the drive to work

9. Go Getta (ft. Ray J)-now me personally i'm bias cuz i don't like that nigga Ray J so havin him on this track baffles me how AZ and Ray J could link up to do a track would be like Soulja Boy havin a song produced by Premier ya dig? the song is coo but on his album he can do without

10. Now I Know-this track is alright...didn't really catch my ear when i first heard it...now if your all about beats and bass this song is not for u...he also takes an oldschool hook and flips it

11. A.Game- now the version on this song u may have heard in the AHH music section wit Consequence from Good Music i think that one is a remix...this one has a female who sounds alot like Amil on the hook...AZ's swag and lyrics are on point...once again AZ makes u wanna go and show out

12. The Hardest (ft. Styles P) -this is Hip Hop could've used this song to start the album but its fitting to have it at the end becuz he sort of saves the best for last...i suggest after listening to this one song would make u wanna cop the album to see wut else he has

13. although the album says 12 songs he has a hidden track don't kno the name of it and i don't kno if its on all the albums but this track sort of has a rock n roll type of feel...anything AZ gets on he rips it...

overall the album is 4 out of 5 stars...if u wanna hear somethin with substance i recommend u pick this up...i actually like this betta then Commons album

I think AZ deserved this review. This is the most solid album he put out since Aziatic. He was never promted right or even had the same movement behind him that the 50 Cent, Jay-Z, or Nas ever had. I thank artist like him for staying consistant and relevant to Hip-Hop.

In my city it's hard to stand out with so many people trying to get in the entertainment world. Indie is the way to go! Shouts out to KOCH for giving AZ a chance to put some dope shit out. This dude has a serious catalog now. I just wish he had the chance to be on a major. AZ should of been with Def Jam or Interscope since day one!
