The album is 7/10 MAX!!!

Theres maybe 5 good songs and yeah they are good but the rest are WACK as fuck and if someone ow i dont know like g-unit put something on the same level it would be classed as garbage.

Weak prodcution on most of the tracks, decent lyrics and that nassir flow but this is no way a fucking classic.

BUY IT and be dissapointed, maybe i expect more from nas

And BTW EPIX, you really don't get it if you're trying to compare Nas to 50, Nigger to T.O.S. The beats on the album go with the content and that's what some of ya'll will never get. Nas is the best ever but his recent stuff just rocks me to sleep. His standards have slipped since Stillmatic and his beats are boring. He needs to call Dj Khaled or Cool and Dre, hungry producers that understand the impact of good beats. The "A Millie" beat is doing wonders for average MC's at the momment, Nas is spitting over below-average beats and it isn't a good look. This album doesn't do him justice because Nas is the King but the crown is slipping.

Okay, I was one of the main ones dogging Nas for the controversy preceding this album. I've heard it and it's actually not that bad...in fact, it's pretty damn good. However, I just don't know about Nas. Dude is too flip-floppy for me.

He opened up this whole controversy with "Be A Nigger Too" where he's calling just about every race in the world a nigger, then he turns around and drops that track from the album and replaces it with "Testify" where he's talking about choking racists out with the Confederate flag. I mean, it's a dope track, but dude be switching gears too much for me. If he keeps it up he's gonna burn his clutch out.

I will say that this new CD is his best since Stillmatic, which was a classic in my opinion. But with all the unnecessary controversy, Nas has lost a true, diehard fan over here.

As much of a Nas fan as I am...I'm not really diggin how he's trying to get his point across nowadays. Back in the day, Nas' albums would be classic because he'd hit you with 2 or 3 solid industry singles, but for anybody who went ahead cop'd the whole album, he would have some deep, intellectual cuts that weren't made for radio....they were just meant for the average street dude who was willing to to listen. I have a problem with his whole "Nigger" jumpoff for the same reason I have a problem with the Boondocks...99% of people don't listen to the actual lyrics they just bop to the beat of the drum and repeat "nigger" every time he does...

Ive heard probs every track, some are cool and up there but If a rapper who is claimed to be one the greats and he puts out an album which everyone is stating is a classic when it so clearly isnt, im gonnna say so.

Seems to be because its Nas, Nas who everyone dick rides because he made a great album, its perceived as a classic.

And i wasnt comparing 50 to Nas, i was saying how AHH.com could give TOS a 6.5 and its not that i think TOS is a good album its good but it just shows the biased ass reviews that get put around.

FOR AN ALBUM TO BE A CLASSIC IT HAS TO HAVE IT ALL.

That includes hot production and it doesnt have to be some up temp tech shit. Theres so many average tracks on the album this review just makes me laugh.

The album leans to heavy on one subject and looses its edge and my interest.

N i aint hatin its just the truth how i see it.

I havent listened to the album yet save a few tracks (Hero, Testify, Fried Chicken, You Cant Stop Us) but those songs are fire especially You Cant Stop Us...HHID was a good album but he didnt go all the way with the concept..He's doing that more on this album and I only heard 4 tracks...I know us Nas fans are slightly excited and are sometimes quick to give Nas two thumbs up but I wouldnt be surprised if this is deemed a hip hop classic...lol dude changed the title and niggas quick to say he lost...but I cant tell!

This is a great album...It is a Classic....To put this into perspective I finally heard The Carter 3 as much as I was trying to avoid it...and it really is a Great Album....Wayne is ill....However Nas tackled a concept for an entire album and exceeded expectation is my own personal opinion.

People were attacking Nas because he was not publicly eloquent when he voiced the motivation behind naming this album "Nigger"..This album answers that question and many others. The bar has been raised.

I see alot of comments about whether this is or isn't, a classic album. I have the word [classic] in my comment so I feel I need to elaborate. [Just in case the replies are to me because I know how headline driven we can be.].

I have not reviewed the album. I don't have too. I am buying it simply because he has a diss track to the idolator five oh. lol Period over end of story.

I know Nas always has a tendency to include political and/or educational type lyrics on his cd's. That's cool for those who may feel intellectually lazy.

But me?
I buy music purely for entertainment. The bonus is hearing another who's fed their mind like I do on the daily. But For education, I grab a book. For politics, I research the candidates and their issues against the issues which are important to me.
[nothing nor no one else will ever have the power to do either of those for me.]

So to clear it up as for as I go.

Nas just keeps it coming. I'm not sure if no one is even close to him in skill. I like 50 but would not dare compare him or Wayne to Nas. I would love to hear what old hip-hop legends think of this album. Wonder is Rakin or Krs-One thinks its classic. And I its a 5mic'er, Nas will be the first artist or group ever to get 3 5mic'ers. He tied at two with TRibe called Quest. But I don't think that the mainstream will cop this album, they're into the ringtone shit, which is cool....but this here is the lost art of hip-hop!

OK after listening to this album all day I have to apologize

Nas is my favorite MC and I always pray that he will come back to the days when he made bangers that you ride out to like IWW, but that isnt gonna happen.......So with that said this album is not for your car because the production does suck, but there are mostly great gems in here that are a like the steak and potatoes vs the fast food thats out here on the radio.....

my personal favs, ms chicken, project roach, the song with game, nigger? and hero

he even dropped a name in there that had me watching some enlightening videos "dr Ivan van sertima"

I wonder what happened to the days of the powerful collabo tho

i think it would be amazing to hear nas paired with 2 MCs i feel are on his heels, Common (has perfect balance between production and content to me) and ANDRE 3000

So If you are younger that 25 or dont really have any bills or cares about the world and are pretty much in party mode all the time.....you probably wont like the album

I'm pretty sure Nas would have done it the old way and dropped non-radio playing singles to get his name back out there. But you have to take into consideration the "music" (and you know why I put that in parenthesis) that has been getting all the attention for the past few years. It's simple, an artist is forced to drop something that can get radio play. He said it himself he brought up Nigger as a title to piss people off. I'm positive that's basically the concept behind the HHID title, and some (not all) stepped their game up.. I know you saw the aftermath of that ordeal amongst various artists. Now I've said this before on older posts, the title may be Nigger; but the ORIGINAL album cover showed just the opposite. I see this as him creating promotion without resorting to the record label in a time where labels try to stress putting out club music. Many artists will say it..Real lyricists don't get the chance to shine, this is why things must be done over the top for them to be heard. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best with this album. I don't hate on the south, but it's about that time where Hip-Hop start making its way back up to NY (without that corny ass TOS, y'all know better than to give that album credit). On the real though, y'all get this album, get Ice Cube's, get TI's. I would say Busta, but I gotta hear him recover from that verse on "Throw It Up" with Luda and Wayne.

Anyone can say "this is how I feel. this is what I believe in" with nothing to support their reasoning. Nas put together an incredible "Concept" album, and supported his opinions, thought, and feelings in so many different ways. Can't do nothing but respect that. Plus there ain't nothing wrong with having influential/political/thought-provoking lyrics set to the soundtrack of nice production you can bob your head to.

I wasnt feeling Breathe or Make The World Go Round at first but contrary to yall beliefs it does fit the concept of the record...Reparations, success, achievements...youre supposed to work hard and play hard...and the album sounds like one of those "Eyes on the Prize" docs we used to watch in school in like 6th grade...How could you NOT feel the production?

You gotta listen to this album totally different...this is not Boom Bap like Illmatic or anyother nas album...tell me You cant stop us now, testify, project roach and nigger dont sound like some discovery channel shit...america sounds like the type of song ud play while getting your green card and citizenship...sly fox is on some public enemy shit...man, Nas brought it this time...and dude spoke on a MAJOR subject without preaching or sounding all Godbody...Think about it this is like the sequel to Illmatic...dont even draw with the reaching shit...i hated streets disciple, thought HHID was underdeveloped...

STraight....heaaat.....can't really say much more. This album is classic, from start to finish he rips and promotes a concept that he sticks on. The only light point (if you can really call it that at all) is We Make the World Go Round, and even that song is fire. N.I.G.G.E.R, Breathe, Hero, and Black President are my favorites. Nas shits on every other rapper in the game, underground or above. I'm not a stan or anything, i call'em like i see'em, and Nas happens to be my favorite artist. Jigga, Common, and all the other greats, imo still don't come out the gate like Nas. This album is what the music industry needed point blank. A blow torch to cut through all the bullshit and watered down trash out there and provoke some thought and get people into a different zone. The flow is impeccable, the production is on point and synchronizes with the topics/feel of the album, and each song is carefully crafted and stays in touch with his central theme. Can't say much more, best of '08 and we only half way through. Some of the comments in here are pretty dim witted and reckless, if yall think this album is subpar or garbage, yall need to get ya heads outta space and touch down2earth

I really don't buy alot music like that no more but when I heard that mix tape nas put out I said I definitely gone cop that nigga album. And I got it the first day and that shit is a straight up CLASSIC!!! all them track on there is fire!!! and this was my 1st Nas CD that I bought. Far as I'm concerned 10/10 for this album.

FakirWise, I take your point on listening to the album. Maybe I should have given it a listen before jumping to my conclusion. It just pisses me off that we're now in 2008 and we're still dividing people up by skin color, whoever we are. Color shouldn't be an issue. Let me rephrase that, I wish it wasn't an issue.

Dude you ain't neva lied. I'm a game addict and I used to not even fuck with the online shit cause I would get so mad at the shit I would be hearing. I started just playing w/o a mic so I wouldn't have to hear the shit. I heard some shit yesterday as a matter of fact. The biggest problem that I have is that it is 2008 and you have little white kids hollarin' that racial shit. You know where they learned it. At this rate, we'll be having these discussions in 3008. I gotta plan to start video recording the little shits and post their comments along with their gamer tags on Youtube. Nas is an aquired taste. Those who don't know never will unless they REALLY peep what he's saying. I feel where you're coming from though cause I feel the same way. Unfortunately it is unrealistic. Racial issues have been around every since the conception of man. They will NEVER go away as long as there is one person who treats another person differently based on their skin color or ethnic background. Realistically, we just need to accept that no 2 people are the same. The problem is that people generalize an entire group of people based on the actions of a few. Check the album out though....it is definitely good shit.

Funny how most of the ppl here rated it a classic wothout hearing it. Honestly its overrated. too much flash and no substance. Nas is using "Shock Threads", telling his fans what they want to hear by acting like a radical. ANd that would have been cool if he articulated it better. If he used more in depth concepts instead of just going the lazy way out and saying how he feels, he could have painted how he feels with words. Kinda like on "who killed it" It gets a 6.5 from me. I love it.....I'm glad he came back hard, because "Hip Hop is Dead" was garbage.. Some people going to overstand some of the concepts in this album, but if they do then they need to try to read some books. There is a thin line that some rappers try not to cross when it comes to being "socialy conscience", but he has mastered it.
