Dis album overrated as fuc. It only deserve about 6 stars for the production. But the album is just filled wit singles that most people have heard or want to hear because of the guest. In his commercial joints like Live Your Life Dead and Gone and others, he isnt even in half the song, he lets the guest takeover.

Of course he gonna sell big. But all of it is fake. How can you go from selling 450k to bigger numbers in a year. This is due to his publicity with his case (set up by t.i. label???) and the biggest promotional plan ever = Having all the hottest artists and having hit singles. Plus releasing a lot of videos n singles.

He promotin all over BET n shit like no other artist has ever. This done. This will fuc up his career cuz everyone knows he wont be able to pull all of this off again.

Like a few ppl I've had Paper Trail since last week and I gotta say its been on play nonstop in my car and on the mp3 player. Overall it is a soild album and stands up with the best of the best... DA KING IS BACK. I'll be copping the official album next week and I suggest you do the same.

How can an album have a "middle half" which "is dominated by a long string of commercial and pop tracks which contribute a mixed bag" get a rating of 7.5 ??? If half an album is commercial and pop then it should not be getting any more than a 6 and that is only if the other half of the album is STRAIGHT FIRE !
The ratings on here suck especially if this is only one mans opinion, AHH should have a team of people to officially rate albums like The SOURCE used to before they got payola type shit goin on. And to Haitian Savvy- why would anyone rewind that line 50 times ??? One line and you rewound 50 times ???

I haven't even got through the whole album yet. I ain't gone lie, I heard that "I'm Illy" and wore the hell out of it! Now I hate that song cause I've played it so much. LMAO!

But truth be told, there were really no surprises on this album cause most of those tracks had "leaked" already. Why do artists leak their own shit and then expect you to buy it? They CLAIM people get a hold of their shit and leak it, but how does that happen? And if that's the case, why haven't we heard any leaked tracks to Dr. Dre's Detox yet?

Anyway, if I had to rate Paper Trail based on what I've heard so far (I'm Illy, the radio joints, and the previously leaked tracks), I'd give it 7 / 10. Criticism: stop leaking your shit and trying to sell it later. Overall solid album though. But I don't expect anything subpar from TIP anyway.

Dude, what does Lil' Wayne even have to do with the reviewing of TIP's new album. It's TIP's album, not Wayne's album. Wayne was on the album, but it's not his album. Again, it's TIP's album.

And Carter 3 did not suck. I thought it was a solid album and believe me, I'm no Wayne fan either. But give credit where it's due. Bottom line is, it's Wayne's time right now so let the dude shine. He does have SOME talent cause if he didn't he wouldn't be on the radio and HATERS wouldn't hate on him so got damn much! It's Wayne's time right now...one day it'll be somebody else's time but until then ya'll need to stop all the hating. Real talk.

His career was slowing, due to one trash album. It's equivalent to what happened when 50 Cent reelased "Curtis". (Possibly the Massacre, but we won't get into all of that) Once he drops some hot shit, he will be on top again. As T.I., he dropped King, (On top) and came with TI vs. TIP, and now he was mellow. Jay-Z verse was really on point, I think I liked his verse on this song possibly more than I did his "A Milli" remix. It was that dope to me. WOW, 7.5 is a little generous!
I say maybe a 5.7 and that's not hatin' at all. Nothing on this album had that WOW factor for me.

I'm seeing comments about Lil' Flip though. Honestly, Flip will murder T.I in a battle. Regardless of who sold what,one on one, I got Flip. If ya don't feel me, go wayyyy back and pull out a DJ SCREW mixtape. Even before we heard of Grand Hustle, Flip was killing it. The only freestyle I heard from T.I that was killa was back in 04 with Slim Thug & Bun B.

the album is fiyah to me, rap is the only genre of music where people get pigeon holded for being creative or trying new things, i been listening for over a week now and it aint got old to me yet, i think im serious was his best album lyrically, just check what happened, but this is his #2 album content wise, it gets 4.2/5, as far as #'s go, it will do 600,000 considering king did 522,000.

TI aint got no lyrical ablility. He got some of the weakest punchlines/metaphor, using shit like "colder than february". Luda don already said he can do or talk about any shit n kill the shit out of it. If he wanted to talk all street shit, he could and would do it lyrically better than TI. After this fuckin pop album TI lost a lot of cred, Luda would never let pop artists like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, or Usher dominate his songs.

FIRST OF ALL

I FELL IN LoVE WITH TIP in 2001, so that was the only thing that bothered me about this post, DONT COUNT OUT IM SERiOUS and TRAP MUZIK for the real fans, when those albums dropped they made their point and just to correct you, TIP made his claim of KING OF THE SOUTH in IM SERIOUS not URBAN LEGEND.....

besides that I love PAPER TRAIL, yeah he had to appeal to his COMMERICIAL SIDE, but DEAD AND GONE and IM ILLY are my favorites....

1. if anyone talks about the conscious songs on TIP's album, please be aware he been had conscious songs on his album since IM SERIOUS, the first on his album STILL AINT FORGAVE MYSELF was that...

2. Dont be talking bout FACE is KING of the SOUTH, TIP called face and FACE said he didn't want the title, do your research before you start yapping at the mouth

3. TIP may have just became COMMERICAL in 2006, but he was doing his thing since IM SERIOUS, and with his mixtapes IN DA STREETS VOL 1-4, he was making his name

4. Although I MiSS the IN DA STREETS VOL 1-4 TYPE TIP, I still like PAPER TRAIL, that shit go hard, its consistent, it was a good representative for him right before he go off to jail

5. For all ya'll that don;;t know, talking bout this TIP first time in jail, he been to jail before, right after TRAP MUZIK dropped

6. Personally LUDA did murder TIP in STOMP, but they are two different rappers with two different rapping styles, YES LUDA is underrated, but honestly so is TIP because half the critics saying they dont like TIP aint never really disected his work and heard his real shit so let me get started.....

T.I has put together one of the best albums of the year hands down. It seems like all the shit he is going through really brought out the hunger in em. That dude is rhyming like he was on Trap Muzik (in my opinion his best work). He last disc T.I. versus TIP was garbage but he delivered on this project. This is the best CD I've brought sense NAS's untitled disc

first off I have liked all the tracks I heard so far and will pick up the album.

As far as flip comments go, he gets great free publicity everytime t.i. is out and flip has earned his dues and anyone who says otherwise needs to see the DJ Screw dvd - Soldiers United For Cash. Also he is on Chamillion's new mixtape messiah 4 and he killed it.

Flips affilated with dipset, rap a lot, 50, screwed up click and many others. Who does ti run with? Big Kountry, Young Dro, Justin Timberlake. Oh and t.i. ran his mouth a lot until he got his ass dropped in cloverland n htown.

Nonetheless its about time we got some descent music to jam to get us through the fall.

Adding to the fact that you said nothing about the music that you didn't like (did you even listen to the album) your comment is full of hatred anyway. What does him going to jail next year for a year, have to do with you hating this entire album? And before you go getting all worked up over nothing, save your internet threats and disses for someone who gives a damn. You said the album was garbage, I say it isn't. That's what this is about, and I just felt the need to remind you of that, before some stupid shit came out. Where is this album garbage? The Lil Wayne verse on "Swagger Like Us"? Of course it is, but we all knew he would have the worst verse on the whole album. T.I. stepped up and delivered a solid effort, which required more thought than past releases from the same guy. Many songs focused more on life, than the thoroughly detailed "money, clothes, and hoes" theme that many have gotten used to. On this album he was HUMAN. Still T.I., but more man than myth. Bravado is still there simply because that's him, but he humbled himself on this album, yet still remained regal. (Not a pun, he seriously seemed to understand his role, and maintain a healthy sized ego about himself.) Needless to say, you probably don't care, so please don't even bother typing it. It's clear that you aren't a fan and don't even casually like T.I.'s music, so you just came to spread a little of your personal disgust for the way your life is going, with us. Thanks for nothing. In summation, your opinion has now been revoked and it is no longer of consequence. Have a nice day.

I like the album. Was skeptical when I heard "Swing Ya Rag" and that Rhianna crap. You do have to put a few commercial singles on to sell so I can't knock him for that. I like the album a lot better than that TI vs TIP garbage. Really I think its his best since Trap Muzik, which is his best album imo. This is probably his third best behind Trap Muzik and Im Serious imo.

I honestly think half of the people that don't like this album are just South haters. Lyrically the album was crazy from start to finish, and since when have commericial tracks been so villified. The Blueprint was full of commercial tracks and y'all loved that (maybe because Jay is from NYC).
