Interesting list and its all subjective, not everyone shares the same tastes in music. There is nothing suspect about his list because Pac isn't on it. Kane & Rakim to me are 2 of the nicest ever but if I'm talking to someone under 24 chances are they won't be as familiar with their music as I am but I wouldn't consider them suspect, your opinion is based on what you know and have been exposed to. I can only name one really good Soulja Slim song but I'm not knocking Curren&y for including him on his list, clearly he's more familiar with his body of work than I am.

In my OPINION I do agree that NAS is lyrically better than Jay but it's a toss up between Big and Pac. Big didn't have enough time on earth to show his full potential. Both are Gods of the game.

He hit that shit RIGHT on point with Jay and "Allure" is my favorite Jay song too. Alot people think its called "High Off the Life" because thats what Pharrell was singing on the chorus. That song was so intropective, and real! My second favorite Jay is "Meet the Parents". He hit it dead on with Big also but my favorite Big song is a toss up between "Who Shot Ya'" and "Niggas Bleed". All the tracks on Ready to Die where so amazing so its hard for me to pick one that stands out. I dont really think that Snoop is in the Top 5 but I do feel like people dont respect Snoop for his lyrical skills. "Murder Was the Case" was crazy and I always by his new shit he makes hip hop funk yet I feel that Snoop just makes songs more than he makes music. I agree with that Slick Rick select but IDK about that Soulja Slim yet I havent educated myself on him enough to fairly come to a conclusion but Im sure the Top 5 thing is exaggerated when you factor in Nas and Tupac.

There have been times when I was sure I couldn't go on and I would listen to Me Against The World and everything would seem OK. "For every dark night there is a bright day ahead." Tupac was more than a rapper, he was a poet, an actor, a leader, and a revolutionary. His music was able to transgress race and culture. I've been all over the world and people still talk about Pac. I'm not hating on any other musicians or rappers, I just feel like Pac went beyond that. I remember the day he died and honestly I don't think there has been a day since then that he hasn't crossed my mind in one way or another. I don't know my father and hardly ever think about him, I feel like Pac has been a greater influence to me than my own father that says a lot. Curren$y is cool...he always had above-average lyrics / wordplay even in his No Limit days. The only thing I dislike about him is that his flow is really REALLY lazy! He has his moments when he shines (Lookin Down On My City and Your Direction) and then he'll flop all over the place.

I hope he blows though. This rap shit seems to be his passion and he has a solid top 5 list. He should drop Snoop and add 2Pac or Scarface though.

Pac wasn't the greatest rapper, but he did have the delivery that made you listen.
I always thought that Luda put in work when he rapped, just cause he knew cats were listening closely.
Cube has had his moments. T.I. makes you think about your own life. Christopher Wallace was and is the best rapper hands down, he's inspired Jay-Z to try and top his legacy, while trying to make it look easy. Andre 3000 shows up and says shit, ya know he's been thinking about for a minute. Snoop, raps his best when inspired by the right producer. Lil Wayne same thing, 'Dr.Carter' was on some elevated shit, but it was the concept that he stuck too, that made the song work. Lil Kim can kill some shit, when hated on. Scarface is a rap don. He aint got nothin' to prove. Always thought Redman was the reason rap fans existed. Nas has a method to the madness, he's a rapper's rapper. Jean Grae I just heard some of her stuff and...dam...she's the truth. Then ya got Marshall Mathers doesn't give a fuck what you think and that makes a difference in what you thought. I like this new cat B.O.B., live music and flows effortlessly. Mr. West does his best to separate from the crowd and succeeds in doing his own thang. Xzibit and KRS One both have added to the history of rap.
So there ya go, my take on the best rappers...ever. There is always going to be favorite, a least favorite and someone you can do without. I tend to appreciate the ones who rap with wit, skill and passion, because rap is music and its necessary, very necessary that we have music in our lives, so thank you for all the lyrics, the beats, beefs and remixes.

Jigga use to be one of the top but for me he sucks. Now, Soulja Slim was that there and slick rick stands in a world alone and is a legend in his own right. First and foremost good looking out AHH for starting this madness...its always interesting to read peoples comments and see who influenced and some instance why and how they were influenced...with that being said here is my list in no particular order.

Jay-Z .. say what you say nobody has an iller more complete catalog...from underdog to top dog for the last 9 years..understand that even if you say he fell off he among the top 5 right now ... and was #1 hands down for like a 6 to 7 year run...that is unreal in hip hop...hate if you want but you have to bow down to the King and Hov has the Crown

Biggie - only 2 albums yes ... but there has never been a better 2 albums back to back in the game and his double album is the best of all time based on the greats that did double albums

Rakim .. The true GOD MC ... illest line ever as far as repping that he is the best..he said .. I take 7 mc's and put em in a line, take 7 more brothers that think they, now it will take 7 more before I go for mine now thats 21 mc's ate up the time!!! 20+ years later the GOD MC is still relevant in the game without releasing any new material. Nas/Pac..To me they are almost one in the same..when they are on..they are untouchable the best to do it but if you are going to be truthful about things its way to many gaps in both of their catalogs to call either one of them the absolute best although PAC is the most influential hip hop presence of all time.

Snoop .. Not a big fan of the most recent but ironically this most recent and diverse music is what is getting him his greatest success and notiriety. But I still remember that skinny young dude on Yo MTV raps that freestyled for like 3 mins on command in between getting his hair braid.

3000 .. The quintessential CD rewinder...nobody makes you double back and say what the f**k did he just say like 3000

Kool G Rap..Not the first to spit that gangsta shhh .. that would probably go to Schooly D but the first to spit with lyrics, with style and ruggedness that felt authentic unlike most of this shhh these so called G's are kicking right now

Scarface..no one rapper has changed the game by just being the same like Face..everytime he comes out you know what you are getting and more times than not he delivers

Ice Cube..He was NWA,Amerrikkka Most Wanted whoa need I keep going...I think not...you know what he meant to the west and still means to hip hop

Lauryn Hill..Not the enigma filled Ms. Hill but the real deal Lauryn Hill from Blunted from Reality, The Score and the Miseducation... match her lines up against some of your favorite spitters and I guarantee you she belongs there.

Too many dope emcees to narrow it to five. But I'd have to put Chuck D, Rakim, and Ice Cube near the top of the heap, along with LL Cool J. Basically, you can trace every movement in hip hop to one of these four cats.
Jay Z is an exceptional rapper, but I'll never get how people say he's "The Greatest". Nas, Eminem, Snoop, Biggie... all of 'em are sick. Slick Rick was dope, but really for just that one album, The Great Adventures...
It's hard for me to call anyone who popped off after '95 the greatest, because the game was already tailor made for them. When Public Enemy, LL, Rakim, NWA and those cats were making their bones, there was no radio, no video, no ringtones, nada. You basically just had to come with that hard ish, and your joint would catch fire from coast to coast through word of mouth.
Since '95, a lot of rappers have been dope, but, like I say, the table had already been set. All they had to do was eat.

I know everybody thinks different but if Pac ain't in your top 5 then something ain't right. Pac has been dead for years and people are still sampling his music to this day and it's going to continue to be that way for many years to come. Tupac was before his time. That's way you can play music he made ten years ago and it still relates to things that are going on today.

Top 5= 2pac, DMX, Snoop, UGK, Nas!!!!! No one has mentioned DMX because of how he is now but when he first came out, Its Dark & Hell is Hot, Flesh of my Flesh, And then there was..X. He put breathe back into the east cuz the West was killin.

People's Top 5 list is going to be different depending on what coast you grew up on. Hence I have UGK, West coast might put Cube right there, East coast probably puts Jay-Z, even some South ppl would put Face. So its who you're able to listen to while growing up.
