Ludacris

Don't get me wrong, the south has plenty of talented cats down here but most of them don't deserve to be in the Top 5 or Top 10. But that's just my opinion. Let's see your top 5.

Once yall put out multi platinum records, then criticize these people. Jay is serious when it comes to these flows people. What's up bro? I'm from VA too. I must say you must not have really ever been to the dirty. I grew up in VA, but i've since lived in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and North Carolina....Let me tell you something dog...VA is not the Dirty South and anybody from the Dirty who has been to VA will tell you that. I've actually met many many cats down south that don't fuck wit VA because they feel like we try to be more northern. When I moved to Tx in 94 I was pumpin Biggie, Wu Tang, Outkast, Scarface, Warren G (lol), 2pac, Black Moon..etc Them cats in Tx was playing Dj Screw, Mystikal, Master P, Eightball and MJG, UGK (Pocket Full of Stones), Fat Pat, lil keke, and a whole slew of other rappers that were not being played in Va.

Don't get me wrong, down south cats respect mc's from other regions, but I agree with Savage Life. If you take a southern artist that is younger than 28/29...I guarantee you will not see all the usual suspects on everybody elses list.

Yeah, I guess VA is kind of in the middle. I knew a bunch of cats from NY, NJ, and MD/DC and they all considered VA in the South. Then I met some dudes from GA and Florida and they said VA is not in the south. I guess that's why we listened to a little bit of everything in VA. We never cared about where a rapper was from. We bumped everything from Mobb Deep to Snoop to Geto Boys to 8ball and MJG. My boys were all over No Limit when they had their reign. We never got into the chopped and screwed stuff though or any of the rap where you had to do a dance with it. I must admit that most of my favorites are from up top but I still bump plenty of hip hop from other regions. Little Brother, Luda, Clipse, Scarface, Dr. Dre (Whenever Detox drops), and of course OutKast.

He didn't inspire my favorite rappers. My favorite rappers were already in the game long before he came in. Even before Biggie. Pac was a roady for digital underground but he wasn't even poppin yet either.

Hell, Bun-B is one of Hov's favorite MC's. Outkast was platinum before Jay dropped his first album. We don't even need to discuss Busta Rhymes. Busta's been in the game nearly as long as LL Cool J. The difference between LL and Busta Rhymes is that Busta Rhymes never fell off. It's 2009 and he's still bringin heat.

This top 5 is.....her top 5. Any top 5 without Andre 3000 and Scarface is lacking 2 of the top 5 all time.

Andre 3000 (take your favorite rapper, get his best 16, and Andre's got 16's that will take elephant shitz on that bitch)

Scarface - need I say more. You don't have a solo artist that has had the consitent quality that Scarface has put out; and he's been in the game since the 80's. The closest would be Busta Rhymes.

Cee Lo - All you need to do is listen to "The Experience" on Goodie Mob's 2nd album "Still Standing".

Bun B - Bun B is one of Jay-z's favorite rappers; plus he murdered Jay on "Big Pimpin". Bun's verse was so beast that Jay had to go back and add a another verse as a remix to try and save face; didn't change the fact that Bun murdered his ass on his own shit.

Killer Mike - If you think this kat isn't worthy.....then ask Jay why he had him on "Poppin tags" (to which Killer had the best verse), or you may want to check out his colabs with Ice Cube, Bun B, Kool G Rap, or host of others that don't hesitate to jump on a track with Killa Kill.

Ludacris - If you say he can't put it down lyrically.....I don't know what you define lyricism as.

Chamillionaire - yet another one who's been doin it for at least a decade and his been consistent from day one.

There are plenty of MC's in the south. It just seems that the North is the only region being asked in these top 5 lists that have been posted.
