KANYE WEST WALKS IN THE MUSLIM WORLD!

Antoinnette is my Navy Chick and she’s stationed over there in Dubai. She told me about Mr. West coming over there to perform. Well, Kanye did it and he even performed “Jesus Walks,” even though Dubai is a decidedly Muslim area. What he didn’t do, was cuss, Antoinnette says, because then he could end up in jail like Dallas Austin minus the alleged drugs. Anyway, he did about a 30 min set in front of about 20,000 people. People loved it even though he used words like “mofo man.” He even did a freestyle about how he couldn’t curse. Thanks, Antoinnette – my Navy boo in my dreams.

DRE AND EMINEM ON THE ROLL AGAIN

I’m getting some positive news out of the Eminem camp. From what I understand Eminem and Dr. Dre recently got out of a Detroit studio from working on new material. As you know, Dre pushed back Detox – in part – so he could work on Eminem’s CD. We’re hoping that Eminem can get a release date in the near future. I am hearing some good stuff on that date, but I don’t want to put the date I am hearing.

    PRODUCERS FIGHT OVER CHAMILLIONAIRE…

I don’t know what the hell is going on, but a pair of producers are fighting over a song called “You Must Be Crazy.” One dude in Philly named Dave MG said he did it and he is getting the credit for doing it. Now, Jomeezius the Genius is allegedly pursing legal action to be properly credited as the producer. Funny thing is, he’s from Denver. Strange. Well, whoever did it, I want to say thanks, because the song is super tight.

    ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Shout out to Kim Kardashian. She has done what most stars do when they hit 35-40. She posed nude for Playboy. Thanks for giving up the goodies.

I heard that somebody was arrested for the noose and vandalism associated with the Tupac statue, but I can’t find anything to support that.

Shout out to The Clipse, who recently signed a deal with Columbia.

Looks like Jigga Man sprung a lil’ leakie leak.

So that manager of Mobb Deep that I was talking about stands accused. There are a couple of Mobb Deep CD’s on Amazon.com that really seal the deal.

R.I.P. to Tom Joyner’s dad. I heard he passed away so condolences go out to him.

My boy from Toronto told me that Tevin Campbell is about to make a run for a comeback. He’s apparently been booked to do a show in Canada to get it poppin.

Shout out to Ricky Smiley. All this time, I thought he was a clown, but he’s really active in the community in Dallas. In the Pleasant Grove section, they have started a nightly patrol in the neighborhoods to look out for the other citizens. I heard the drug situation is out of control.

Nas might not get away with naming his CD The N-Word. Click here to read how this whole thing is going to possibly hit Universal in the wallet.

BIZZY BONE IS COMIN BACK – WITH DMX!

I was just asking, “Where is DMX?” and my folks at XM radio hit me with this one. Bizzy’s first single is working with DMX. This is great. For the full scoop, check the video. It seems like Bizzy dissed Jamie Foxxx…I’m not sure. Check it.

I heard DMX was down there in Ft Lauderdale a lot lately and has recorded a song with Junior Reid. Additionally, I heard DMX was set for a show in New Mexico, but after TI was arrested and jailed, a lotta people took advantage of the refund offered. Still some of the people that went to the show told me X was quite liquored up and all most fell trying to climb on a speaker.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!

WOW. The world is just going crazy and we’re concerned with saggy jeans. Check this out. A British man took a page out of the deranged R.Kelly files. He screamed, "This is YouTube material!" as he peed on a dying woman that had collapsed in the street. The woman was 50 and she suffered from pancreatic failure. In addition to urinating on her, he also poured water on her and sprayed her with shaving cream. The whole thing was recorded on a mobile phone so I am sure this will become youtube material. Oh yea, he was high and drunk. He got three years in jail for his momentary fall into insanity.

MAN SUBMITS HIS LETTER OF RESIGNATION – FROM HIP-HOP!

This isn’t a rumor. This is a fact. Some dude sent me an email as his resignation from Hip-Hop. I don’t know his background, age, race or anything else like that, but I found it pretty humorous in parts. There are other parts that are sad. I will leave what is what to you. Check it out.

    Whaddup,

After listening to most of the recent albums, including those from Kanye, 50, and a stolen version of Jay... I would like to announce to the entire Hip Hop community and all of its affiliates that as of now I am turning in my letter of resignation.  I fought through what I first considered a temporary lull in good music; taking shelter in sparsely released "decent" albums but DAMMIT....  NO MORE!!!  50 is cliche, Kanye is "off" and Jay is (sigh)...Hova is....(sigh)THE KING IS DEAD!!!  I refuse to listen to weirdo, reject rap like Brother Ali and dead Prez.  The South is not an option because I'm educated.  Talib and his bohemian buddy Common attract too many white people.  Nas never bounced back from his emasculation. And most of all Dr. Dre will NEVER release Detox.  The future shows no promise.  Wayne, Lupe, Saigon, Papoose....WHATEVER

For these reasons, and many others I must leave you all to seek better music.  I will always remember the great times we had:

Death Certificate,  Midnight Mauraders, Ready to Die, The Blueprint, The Chronic, Reasonable Doubt, The Diary, Liquid Swords, Late Registration, Uptown Saturday Night, It Was Written, The Infamous, Southernplayalistic... but what have you done for me lately?

So, like we used to say before everybody got so fly and cute and homo-friendly....Peace

    Cacheous D. Worst

    TOMORROW, WE LOVE YOU!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

There were a lot of cars over there that night. I thought they were having some kind of poet reading session. Must be some old arsty ass mufuka, who longs for the days of The Temptations or some shit. THe dude is 37 years old.....

On a lighter note, big props to Kim K! The Doc Jam's dreams are coming true.

Damn...guess I'll settle for second. Sad, because I'm sitting at work while everyone in the states is probably sleeping off a hangover from a night out. Damn desert.

On the rumors- nothing spectacular. I heard about the Clipse deal and the Kim Kardishian/Playboy collabo couple days ago. I like the Clipse and not just cause I rep that VA (2 up, 2 down). It'll be nice hearing them over some different beats. I know the Neptunes might be super-producers and all but limiting yourself to one sound does nothing more than box you in. Bizzy Bone back could be a good look. Him and the rest of BTNH together on some East 1999 Eternal shit would be an even better look. I don't know about X anymore. Too damn erratic for me. I just throw in It's Dark & Hell is Hot and call it a day.

Detox is never coming out!!! We'll find Bin Laden before we hear that album. I'd like to see Em with that hunger again. He's been lackadasical of late. Downright lazy with the flow. Sorry, talent alone doesn't excuse some of those garbage ass tracks.

Good morning to all, rumors on a Saturday morning, i wasn't expecting this.

Looks like Em is gonna have anotha banga, he's been through alot the past couple of years so i'm interested in what his album is gonna be about.

    Kim K in playboy.....SO WHAT!!!

Messed up that most of Jay album has already leaked.

Bizzy Bone is a funny dude, don't know why people say he crazy?

Letter of resignation from hip hop, now that sounds like a sign the world is coming to an end. What an ass-munch, his reasons for resignation is asinine.

Teven Cambell stay retired, don't do it to yourself, too much competition.

Condolences to Tom Joyner and his family. Its hard losing a father, and it's something that I myself will have to deal with in 6-8 months.

Peace out, im going to get some breakfast!

The letter that homeboy wrote is symbolic and of course he isn't really going to step away from Hip-Hop. Afterall Hip-Hop is a culture and not simply a form of music, but he made a good point. The fact that whites are attracted to it is irrelevent, but Hip-Hop is getting raped. Less than 1% of all the people involved in making the music get shine because of the predominance of club and radio friendly garbage. I would personally be satisfied if they would officially create a subgenre of Hip-Hop and call it rap because that's all that alot of these corny muthafuckas do anyway. Hip-Hop fans these days are like domesticated bears, they eat whatever is given to them as opposed to searching for eats on their own. No one digs for their music, they learn about artists from the current magazines, radio, or videos. If the industry cosigns an artist and promotes him, than you negroes line up like the government is giving away free cheese. And that is exactly what chumps like: Jay Z, Kanye, 50 Cent, Lila Wayne, Jim Jones, Common, Lupe, etc are compareable to, FREE CHEESE! Don't make your own or go about finding a quality meal, here take this 10lb block of cheese and get your eat on. You radio friendly suckas lost for supporting these wack ass acts. Homey should of written a petition instead of a letter of resignation and I would of been the 1st to sign it.

Is it a fluke that the popularity in rap coincided with white peoples interest? The fact is if the emcees of today were folowing the same formula of old, which should not change regardless of new styles, white people who buy more rap than anyone wouldn't. These dudes perpetuate stereotypes and we damn sure aren't the ones who are getting off on it. I wonder how supportive whites would be of Rock music if it did the same towards their own culture. But like good niggas we support the glorification of drugs and violence, and the degradation of women because massa has decided it sells.

Thats real talk.  Many ask why or how is Hip Hop Dead.  To that I say, how does anything die?

    It loses its soul.

    How does a virus kill?

It takes control of the cells and teaches them to manufacture its venom.

Our hearts and minds are the cells of Hip Hop.  Cells need nourishment.

I would pay $89.95 easy to see that but it would never happen. Hell AHH had a celebrity rap battle and less than 10 agreed and only a few of those showed. Royce is a pussy for writing a diss to Fab by the way. The 1st thing out of his mouth after the battle was "I was tired, but no excuses", then he went on to say that the best man won and now he regroups and writes a diss. I hope Fab murders that dude.

OK Eminem, I have a question. Are you coming back on some 'I'll prove I still got it' shit, or we talkin 'puke' and 'big weenie' and 'rain man' type shit? If it's the latter, you can save it. I heard most of that new Jigga. It's so/so. I can't believe Lil Weezy a.k.a. Queasy F Baby actually made the album. Wasn't Jay dissing him on T.I.s CD and that shit came out not long ago at all. But Hova does have a few words for his old pal DeHaven on the track No Hook.

Bizzy Bone needs to reunite with all of BTnH. They are one of the most underrated groups of all time, IMO.

I can understand Dude who wrote the letter. But that is how it is. PPL change, tastes change and gererations change.
Fact is, the music is being dumbed down. Sure. But this is
a worldwide thing. Major labels need to sell no matter what
or their stocks will drop. Since everybody who has a brain uses
the internet to download music free. The record labels have no chance but making music targeting those demographics, that
don't have a proper internet connection or those too stupid
    to switch on a computer.
Thee are still a lot of valuable artists out there. They ain't dead
and gone, but their audience just doesn't buy music anymore.
So their only chance is to go and do shows.
PE, Wu, Boot Camp Click, Masta Ace, De La, Jazzy Jeff,
Dead Prez. They all tour the world to do shows. Same as rock
Musicians do. We are not the only ones who don't sell.

"But like good niggas we support the glorification of drugs and violence, and the degradation of women because massa has decided it sells."

I felt what you was saying there. But then I go back and read a couple of your post from yesterday and you was gettin real reckless on Jrzeema.

you defending the rights of women in general or just black women?

Cuz some of that was just foul homie.

If you mix ignorance with intelligence, the ignorance rings louder.  Im sure you know that.

With all due respect, I lost my cool and went a little overboard yesterday and I sure as hell don't need your ass to cosign me on anything or to scold me on anything. I didn't strike the 1st blow, I just struck harder and for that I do apologize (2 JrzeeMa). But I do thank you for noticing my "spark of intelligence". I thought that I was pretty stupid up until the point that I read that. Just for the record titties and ass do not a woman make. Just like having a penis doesn't make you a man. However, regardless of how much any female may degrade herself, men especially should not do the same. A person losing their temper and a collective consciousness that is OK with the degradation of women are 2 entirely different matters. The industry makes no apologies for the things said or done, but I do. JrzeeMa I sincerely apologize to you for my comments yesterday. I let my little monster do the talking instead of speaking for myself. If your attitude is still Fuck you I totally understand because mine would be also. Too little, too late, but for the record I said it. To any and everyone else who would like to comment on the situation I would suggest that you don't because i'm quickly losing my patience. I'm a muthafuckin island and could care less what anyone thinks, but at the same time I can accept my own faults and that was totally out of character for me. I can & will use that same wit to slay some niggas though (518P) so please shut the fuck up about it.

Sad thing is, The Hip Hop Culture of the 80's drove our culture like the "I'm Black & I'm Proud Times" of the 70's.

In the 80's we had party rap Kid N Play, booty rap with 2 live crew and Sir Mixalot, Gansta Gansta with Schooly D, Kool G Rap, Geto Boys and NWA plus lyrical MC like Kane, Rakim & KRS 1 if you noticed all coast was repped and all things were fed to you at different times. You'd hear "Minds Playing Tricks on you" right after Self Destruction and then after that you'd hear (Or see on video) RUmp Shaker right after Ola Ola Aye.

Now a days it's all Ass & Titties videos with a sprinkly of a Gay Common video (Common is a dope MC but these videos are straight gay dude)

The industry is PURPOSELY duming not only it's listeners but the children of the listeners. No creativity from the music means no creative flow from the person who listens. That is why it is called "Radio Programing".

White people purchase it because most of you dumb ass downloading shit ass dudes won't go to a store for your favorite artist. The concerts are filled with White and Asian people because we don't even go there. Doesn't matter if it's Wu-Tang or Jeezy...80% of the people are not black or latino people (Hip hop creators) But when looking at most of the non educated, incarserated (Sp) higly impregnated, H.I.V. infested, people they are Latino and Black people.

Shit is a plan to dumb us down and wipe us out for real.

    Hip-Hop (I still love her)

I remember when I met her

And still love her though Common left her

Through all the storms she's wheathered she's adorned by millions still

A presence of majesty with the capacity to kill

    But those aren't her intentions

She voices her opinions by way of thoughts that she envisions

From crack cultured in kitchens to the plights of ghetto children

Reconfiguring cultures that descend on her like vultures

    Picking her to pieces

Used and abused by those who don't appreciate her thesis

And though her style may change the woman remains the same

An independent spirit to many who bear her name

Pouring syrup on shit does not a plate of pancakes make

She's an original imitated by criminals who like her taste

Her sound can still be found if you dig deep enough under the ground

The masses are entertained by clowns performing what she found

And know she didn't die, its impossible i'll tell you why

Her creed is like a fertile seed that's sewn and grows inside

The industry pimps her and causes purists to resent her

But it isn't really her, it's only Rap her evil sister

All Hip-Hop is rap but all rap's undoubtedly not she

Her twin's simply a whore who makes living on bended knees

I'd like to murder that bitch and end this madness where she sits

But that can never be while the money's within her grips

The day that she demands we mirror what we truly are

Will be the day that many making money from her name will starve

Well, well - rumors on a Saturday, huh. Cool.
Hope everybody is having a relaxing weekend. I managed to go to the club last night to check out some west coast style funk/reggae joint, and woke up this morning no worse for wear. Band was tight though.
Damn, I'm really hopin that Em's new shit is better than the newer stuff I've heard. I'm gonna bump Dre regardless, his beats are crack, But I think both of them are going to have to bring somethin' pretty special in order to have an impact. To tell you the truth I'm almost more excited to hear The Clipse new record. On Columbia, Rick Rubin on that shit, oh man! That's the recipie for success fo sho.
I find myself caring less and less about guys like 50 and Kanye everyday. They just don't seem worth all the money the get, I mean, both are talented to a point, but I wouldn't give 'em millions and millions of dollars for what they're doin. It's not like they're saving the world.
LOL @ dude resigning. Dude it doesn't matter if you retire. It didn't matter when Jay did, it didn't matter when Eminem did and no one knows who you are, so it really doesn't matter. I think he's just lookin for a hug.

    Shout out to:

@BigSlimFL - Ay, mane! I see you got your blog up. Good lookin'! They're talkin about playin an NFL preseason game up here. I'm wonderin if they're thinking expansion teams. I know alot of peole who are huge fans of the NFL, especially out east. I'd go to games fo sho.

@ButrFlyGrl - I see you're being delightful as usual. Never a bad word for anyone, that's commendable. I can tell you do it on a regular basis. How's it in Cali? I have a question, are you a teacher or a social worker? I spent a few years setting up afterschool programs and youth drop-in centers in a few communities, so I can appreciate the work you're doing.

@SeventhSeal - Thanx for responding to my question. And don't let them folks tell you what you're doing with posting scripture is worng, they just haven't had The Word spoken to their heart yet. He will reveal all wisdom in time, neither one of us can do it for Him. All we can do is be ready for when He chooses to use us to answer the prayers of the needy. Remember what Jesus said about true religion.

@J.Johnson - I show up @ dude's door everytime I hear 'The Corner' coming on. Me and about 10-15 of my white friends @ the door, like 'hey, you playin' some Common? Can we come in?'

@JrzeeMa - I don't know if you caught my response yesterday, but I wasn't calling you an asshole. I was referring to all the people sparring yesterday. Abdul, stateofaids and myself. You don't have to look too far to find assholes, they're everywhere. Asses have been talking since Biblical times.

@ Abdul - Hello again. I see you apologised for acting like a dick, very mature of you. It takes a person with knowledge of self to admit their mistakes. Tell me, are you an internet Troll? -or are you here for a legitimate convo? Just curious.

You're no slouch yourself. I usually find personal writing to be boring and preachy. I suppose that's cause I'm self centered, but I found your poem 'Butterfly' to be easy to engage. I didn't feel like you were telling me your life story, or trying to be too melodramatic about it. I think alot of girls would identify, we need more positive female role-models. I've been writing songs and poetry since 1994. I have a book of poetry written, but I haven't shopped it around for a publisher yet. I might start a website, but I'm just getting my home studio up so I'm a little preoccupied.

i guess it depends upon what u mean by beauracracy (sp?). i work at a non-profit, so there's not a lot of that government type, like paperwork and approvals of this and that. we just serve the community directly.

but in an indirect and direct ways the larger political and social issues that adversely affect the population we serve definitely make our work difficult from all parties involved: the MUTHAFUC*IN system, the GOT-DAMN parents, and the CRAZY ASS youngstas. (excuse me, it was a frustrating day today).

but at least with the parents, most of the times they are well intentioned. they just know not what they do.

with the youth, i believe that their issues are a direct byproduct of a dysfuntion in the family system. so i understand, and the same for the parents. they are just adult versions of the same thing: unresolved issues.

then of course there are the ways in which social and political issues impact the perspectives of those of us doing the work. you know, that bias them unconsciously and negatively.

like i come into contact with folks that are committed to the work, but still lack the total cultural awareness and competency needed to effectively work with families of color. think they are saviors and shit.

that is probably the most frustrating part of it all to me. i can't stand that shit actually.

I haven't had a job where I directly serve the community, but I'ma still break it down like this.

If you work for a company who serves the community, at the end of they day, it's still a company. No matter how much they are dedicated to helping people, if it's a business, they're (the higher ups) gonna take care of themselves first and foremost. If production or quality of production happens to go down, it doesn't directly affect them, because they're not relying on the services being provided.

Like BFG said, people will sit on their pedestal and think that their shit truley does not stink because of the job they do. It's rare, and I'm sure, hard to find a group of people who are all down for the cause, so to speak. It's one thing to feel good about the work you do, and to realize that you're contributing to the betterment of society. It's an entire different entity to si there and say without me or my money/work, the world would be a worse place.

@BigSlimFL - I'm having a little trouble posting the link, so I'll have to do it later. Peace!
@BFG - Up here everything's government controlled, so doing anything requires tons of bullshit. I just meant that I found alot of the people who are supposed to be concerned about youth, are not interested in addressing the real issues. When I was helping to set up a youth society (A non-profit group) with a drop-in center and peer councelling. I found that the "experts" wanted to gear it towards semi-affluent kids, not the kids who were truely in need. It eventually became like a social club for middle-class white kids, instead of the inner-city kids. The people we hired to work with the youth were scared of the street kids and wouldn't really give them any help. We have a large amount of Aboriginal people living in poverty up here, and I found it hard to find poeple who would work with them. Especially any of the gang affiliated kids, or the drug addicted kids. It seemed that if it took any real work to help, people weren't interested. Some of the workers just wanted to be seen as helping without doing any of the hands-on work. I eventually left after the cops started coming around asking about lists of kids names that hung out there. I just had enough.

    who is marshall mathers?

January 15, 2004 – The Source’s explosive February issue spotlights racism in Hip-Hop, a topic so hot and so uncomfortable that Hip-Hop’s most popular MC went to Federal Court to try to prevent The Source’s complete investigative package from reaching the hands of the public. As the independent voice of Hip-Hop, The Source persevered and a Federal Judge agreed – ruling that it is The Source’s right to publish the materials, including excerpts of several racist tracks recorded by Eminem in 1993. This February’s issue introducesmarks the introduction of an innovative The Source’sa new multi-media approach to publishing The Source,, incorporating audio, and interactive online components. – and thiscomponents. The February’s issue of The Source includes an audio CD with excerpts of the racist songsmaterial that Eminem and his label tried to suppress at all coststhe racist Eminem material, along with commentary by several leading African- American scholars and activists. The Source will also launch an online accompaniment to the issue at www.thesource.com to allow reader interactivity and involvement in the issues.

The historic February 2004 issue is a continuation of The Source’s yearlong investigation of forces corrupting Hip-Hop, which began in March 2003 with a cover story, “Hip-Hop Under Attack.” In this month’s “The Making of a Hip-Hop Monopoly,” The Source investigatesillustrates how corporate consolidation of record labels, radio, video and retail outlets has created a tight-knit system that is working to take control of Hip-Hop from the minority communities and entrepreneurs that created it. At the helm of this powerful monopoly is Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records, which, The Source argues, is using Eminem isas a tool being used by the monopoly to redefine for mainstream America what the term “Hip-Hop” ismeans. The Source also exposes MTV’s role in this process, by separating “Hip-Hop” and “Rap” into two different categories at their annual Video Music Awards, thus allowing “Hip-Hop” to be perceived as being reserved for “non-threatening” music and artists, while “Rap” is eventually pushed out and becomes the domain of “angry” Black artists. If Hip-Hop continues in this directionthis process is allowed to continue, The Source maintains, itHip-Hop will go the way of rRock ‘n rRoll – where all of Rock’s economic and cultural value was stolen from its Black creators like Chuck Berry and Little Richard, and its history forever rewritten..

“Last Line Of Defense,” an extremely honest and thought-provoking Q&A interview with recording artist, community leader and The Source’s Chief Brand Executive Ray Benzino, who was the first person to stand up and question racist and monopolistic practices in Hip-Hop, sheds further light on the powerful hold corporate America is gaining on the Hip-Hop culture: “Where Hip-Hop was a thing of freedom of expression, and the expression of struggle, they’ve taken that away from us. We’re being told what type of songs we should make to get on the radio and what type of videos and images to show. And in order to use their [corporate America’s] vehicles, dictate to us how to be creative.” Benzino also opens the door for a discussion with Eminem, stating, “If he wants to get in a dialogue, I think it would be incredibly influential not just for Hip-Hop, but for humanity, because he can influence a lot of kids that felt a certain way about Black and Latino people.”

In “The Real Slim Shady,” The Source’s Editor-In-Chief, Kim Osorio, provides an in-depth investigation into the history behind Eminem’s racist recordings and his life before he was famous. “Until recently,” Osorio writes, “Eminem has seemed very careful about his place as a White rapper in a predominantly African American and Latino Hip-Hop culture.” The Source’s investigation reveals, however, that the perception of Eminem as being sensitive and truly committed to Hip-Hop culture and the inner-city communities from where it has come, may be far from the reality. On

Eminem’s early collaborators aren’t afraid to talk to The Source and the story that emerges is a far cry from what you’ll see in his Academy Award-winning movie “8 Mile.” As The Source Editor-in-Chief Kim Osorio notes in the cover story on Eminem, “Understanding Marshall Mathers’ past – his life before the Black community accepted him – explains how a rapper of his caliber could have something like the racist recording hidden in his closet.” On tracks recorded in 1993 by Eminem’s four-man, all-White rap crew, under the title “The Racist Rap Hour with Bassmint Productions,” with the Eminem’s four-man, all- Wwhite collectivewhich were known as Bassmint Productions and leaked to The Source by three White Hip-Hop fans from Detroit who were associates of Eminem in from the early ’90s, Eminem calls Black women “dumb chicks” and opposes dating Black women “cause I don’t like that nigger shit.” On a third song, newly discovered by The Source, Eminem calls Black people “moon crickets,” “spear chuckers” and “porch monkeys.” ”

The feature on Eminem’s hidden past – where one of his old rhyming partners tells all about The Racist Rap Sessions of 1993 – and an interview with one of the White Hip-Hop fans from Detroit who drove across the country in order to bring Eminem’s racist tracks to light anchor the package on racism. Features editor Jerry Barrow weighs in with an essay on race; Hip-Hop players from Irv Gotti to Suge Knight to Crazy Legs speak their minds on the controversy; and Benzino asserts that The Source is “the last line of defense” against the forces that will destroy Hip-Hop: greedy record labels, mainstream media with a “double standard” towards race and rappers like Eminem who threaten to completely co-opt an African-American art form. Benzino’s statements are backed up in “The Making of a Hip-Hop Monopoly”, which outlines exactly how with a detailed diagram, corporate control of radio, retail, distribution and a concentration of major recording artists under one record label (Interscope) has marginalized independent artists and stolen Hip-Hop from the Black and Latino communities that gave birth to it. The power of Interscope to bias the media, and influence recording artists is further demonstrated by Russell Simmons reactions to the release of the racist tracks in “Politics as Usual: Russell Simmons’s Comments.”

February’s issue culminates The Source’s yearlong investigation of forces corrupting Hip-Hop, which began in March 2003 with a package, “Hip-Hop Under Attack.” Among the other shocking revelations in this month’s issue“The Real Slim Shady”:

    • Between 1988 and 1993, Eminem formed an all-White rap collaborative known as Bassmint Productions that produced “The Racist Rap Hour with Bassmint Productions.” Fellow MCEminem’s rhyming partner in Bassmint Productions, White MC Chaos Kid, provides The Source with an exclusive interview where who was therehe describes first- hand how thesethe racist recordings were made and why he refused to be a part of themit.describes first-hand how these recordings were made and why he didn’t participate saying,

    • Eminem tried to cover up other racist recordings held by Bbrothers DJ Butterfingers and Manix, both partthe other members of Bassmint Productions, which have yet to surface. Chaos Kid saidsays Eminem “asked Manix to destroy it.”“I refused to even get on it… I didn’t feel comfortable about being a part of [it], so I didn’t rap on it.”

    • Eminem hid his racist tracks from his first Black producer and record label owner, Champtown, who was responsible for introducing Eminem to Detroit’s Black Hip-Hop community and who helped shape him to be the superstar he is today. Champtown was shocked to hear some of Eminem’s racist tracks for the first time in 2000. “I definitely heard some tapes with Slim [using] words like ‘moon crickets’ and shit like that on it. And there was ‘spear chucker’ on it… and ‘porch monkeys,’” said Champtown.

    • Champtown and Eminem’s older friends dispute Eminem’s claim that his breakup with an “African-American girlfriend” is what caused him to record “Foolish Pride” where he rants, “Black girls are bitches” among other things. Said Champtown, “I don’t believe it. He was with Kim for the whole time I knew him. I never knew him to date any Black women.” Chaos Kid doesn’t remember his Black girlfriend either: “This whole story about him going out with a Black girl – I don’t know.”

    • Brothers DJ Butterfingers and Manix, both part of Bassmint Productions have much more unreleased Eminem material. Chaos Kid said “[Eminem] asked Manix to destroy it.”

    • Members of Detroit’s Hip-Hop community view Eminem’s management as racist. Of Paul Rosenberg, who has managed Eminem since 1998, Champtown says, “I feel that Paul Rosenberg is prejudiced. I heard from inside the camp about how Blacks are being underpaid…I know who introduced [Rosenberg] to Eminem and he is no longer on the map. He was fired. He was the last Black survivor with any authority in the camp and he was fired recently.”

    • Chaos Kid says, “To me he’s reached a point where he’s put the dollar before his conscience, and unfortunately, it is going to be his downfall.”

This comprehensive examination of racism in Hip-Hop also features comments from Hip-Hop players fromleading entrepreneurs, artists, scholars and activists such as Irv Gotti, Mack 10, to Suge KnightDr. Michael Eric Dyson toand Crazy Legs sounding off on Eminem and racism;, an interview with one of the White Hip-Hop fans from Detroit who drove across the country in order to bring Eminem’s racist tracks to light;, and an insightful essay on perceptions of race and racism across three generations of one African-American family by fFeatures eEditor Jerry Barrow. In addition, in a wide-ranging and frank interview, Benzino, who was the first person to stand up and question racist and monopolistic practices in Hip-Hop, faces down those who have attacked him and explains how these latest discoveries vindicate his beliefs. VH 1 specials, MTV and “8 Mile” would have you believe that Eminem grew up in one of Detroit’s poor Black neighborhoods. The reality is Eminem went to Lincoln High School, a predominately White school in Warren, Michigan that was known as “War-n-tucky for its reputation as a hotbed of racism.”

Only redeeming track is track 12 with Nas where I was at least nodding my head thinking of what this album SHOULD of been like.  Check it out at www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KKphp8l4hU

You can find the rest of Jay Z's album on youtube or around the net and see for yourself.  When you listen to the album, don't listen to it as if it is a 'Jay Z' album.  Just judge it on its merits as an album on its own and ask yourself if you can really see yourself rocking this for the next 6 months.

I guess I'm waiting on that WU now with crossed fingers... is that going to be disappointment #2?  Am I also going to have to resign from hiphop?  Damn man...

yea...the dolphins are real bad. They usualy aren't as bad as they are this year, but hey, you can get cheap tickets to dolphins games in miami. You could even get some free food at the tailgate before the game if you tell people you became a fan when you saw them play in england and you came all the way to FL just to watch! lol

did you see my blog about your boy Jason Whitlock?

    Cacheous D. Worst
