I'm right with you on being in shock, and really don't know what to do right now. Especially being in FL, we've lost 2 big people down here, first FL's own Sean T, now a south coast legend.
I urge EVERYONE to do what Illseed said and re-evaluate your situation, while you still can. I know I will as soon as my exams are over next week.

Whether you like Pimp or not, the fact remains that he was a southern legend, and without him, who knows where southern rap would be. He wasn't one of my favorite artists, but I still liked the dude. He seemed so down to earth and real. I had an exam last night, yet I still kept thinking, "This is so surreal. Can this really be happening?" every few minutes.

We, as a hip-hop community, have lost a huge person today. Please, whatever ANYONE is doing today, take the time out to remember Chad and pray for his family and friends. If you're not religious, go outside and pour out a little liquor, or do whatever you do to remember those no longer with us. Whatever you do, just please keep him in your thoughts.

Man I been listening to UGK since I was 12 yrs. old and now I'm 25. I remember me and my boys in New Orleans bumping "Tell Me Something Good" and that's when Pimp C first captured my ears. His untimely death really affected me because I am a true UGK fan. I bought all of their CD's faithfully and I respected Pimp C because he said what was on his mind. Whether you agreed with him or not, he didn't sugar coat anything. While most people were listening to Biggie and Pac I was listening to Ridin Dirty. He was a true legend not only in the South, but to rap music in general. He kept our trunks knockin with those Country Rap Tunes and I know that Bun will hold UGK down like he did when Pimp was locked up. RIP Sweet Jones, now the Pimp is really Free!!!

I remember the first time I ever heard this cat. UGK had that joint "Tell Me Something Good". I had no clue who he was or what he looked like, all I knew was that I like his style. His second verse was my shit he ended it with the classic line. "Now everybody in the world,knows that your sister is a nasty little girl"

 With Pimp C passing yesterday I wish it would give people the mindset to re-evaluate the hate they have for some of these artist. Their job, profession, career, whatever you want to call it, is to make music. Think of all the things that are most important in life. Does whether or not Fat Joe or Birdman put out a song you like make the list. If so you need help that a simple post can't help you with. For everybody else take heed to one thing Pimp C was doing in his life. He was getting all the Southern artists to let the petty bullshit fall back, and work together as one solid front. Because he knew like I knew that hip hop would be better for it. The culture will never see its' full potential if people constantly knip at the ankles of those ahead of them. It is a given you will not like everyone out now. The problem comes into play when you take aim at them on things that have nothing to do with the music. If you are not feeling them do not buy the album, and if you are right about them other people will not be buying their music either. And if no one is buying their music they will eventually fade away. But when you get on here spreading hate towards an artists, and their fans most of which you have no idea about. The only thing you achieve is seperation. And seperation is the one and only thing that can take down a strong organization. Just look at history, it speaks for itself. To wrap this up because it is getting too damn long. Is it better for hip-hop if the majority of the artists are successful, or is better if just the ones you like are succesful. From what I can see no other music genre has this huge problem hovering over its head. Not to mention that hip-hop has enough problems already with the Federal Government trying to take it out. With the help of the local hip-hop police task forces.

It just seems everything happens too fast.  First my uncle dieing two weeks ago and now this.  This tells you that life is precious and you should always cherish it and those around you, because you never know what can happen.  My heart and condolences truly go out to his family.  Once again R.I.P. I just watched that last installment of the American Gangster BET series.  As yall might know, they finished the series out with Kenneth "Supreme" Griffin.

After watching that, and the many other American Gangster biopics, I must say Im disgusted.

Its painful to see one brotha after the next get manipulated and slaughtered by the "system".

Lets talk a little bit about the system.  The entity that wagers the lives of so many young lost black brothas and sistas.  The system that plays the game of chess while its opponent plays checkers.

The system that has gotten so cocky that it plans its attack, reveals the attack, gives time for a response, then successfully executes its attack anyway.  Sounds like an unfair match up right?

When one side has the perspective and vision of a chess player and the other side has the perspective of a checker player, doesnt sound like much of a battle.  Sounds more like continuous slaughter...

This lump sided battle can only change course in two ways:

The side that keeps winning will ease up

-or-

The side that keeps losing will switch its strategy

with in mind of course that the original strategy is self destruction.

I dont think the system is going to get any easier.

When he died we went back and listened to all the things she said and learned a lot of truth from it.  I'm going to take today and listen to all of the Pimp C songs I have (i have everything from Pimp C) and find the truth behind his music. When I listened to his music I felt free and full of power. Songs like "Look At Me" and "Top Notch Hoes" will always make me feel proud of who I am and what it is I do in life. Pimp on Pimp C.
