BACK STAGE AT THE GRAMMYS...
Music celebrities are all in LA this week getting ready for the Grammys. Yesterday began the first day of "Backstage at the Grammys." Celebrities on hand were Shawn and Kim Wayans, Chingy, Chrisette Michelle ,Tank, Lil’ Mama, Rick Ross, Three Six Mafia and more. "The Trey the Chocolate Jock More Jump-off" is one of the many radio shows on hand conducting interviews and, of course, my girl morning show co-host, Kendra G. checked in with me.
Tank pretty much confirmed that the "TGT" album, (Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank) will be out no time soon! Without naming which member Tank said in so many words that there is an ego problem going on and that the money should be split evenly amongst all three people. I can’t say, but Tyrese is very excited about the project. I don’t know if that says anything, but it sure shows a stark difference in opinion. But all hope isn't lost! Tank said that hopefully through prayer they will be able to get past the ego thing.
Three Six Mafia is on hand at the Grammys because they are nominated for that "UGK" song "International Players Anthem" (they have production credits on that song) and DJ Paul said he was actually with Pimp C two days before he passed. Pimp C was in L.A. that week because he was recording a song with DJ Paul. Also backstage at the Grammys was Ludacris manager Chaka Zulu who told Kendra G. that he was going to watch what he had to say because he didn't want to end up on ALLHIPHOP.COM! KANYE’S NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!
Ye announced that the video for “Flashing Lights” is all ready to go. It was fully finished just yesterday. Apparently, he wants to premiere it on AllHipHop, but already committed to BET. Its all G.O.O.D. Kanye – I forgive you. He actually said that he wanted to “post” it, but I really understand what he was saying. Anyway, he is going to Australia for something. I wonder what his passport looks like.
BIGGIE MOVIE UPDATE
I heard Jamie Hector is going to be cast in the new Biggie Movie. All of you that watch “The Wire” know that Jamie plays the cold blooded Marlo from the show. Man, that dude is ruthless on that show. I’m hearing that Jamie will be playing Biggie’s best friend, D-Roc. We’ll see how this develops.
HELP PUN’S KIDS!
I don’t know the full status of Pun’s kids and family, but I heard an interesting bit of info. Last night, there was a wonderful event commemorating Big Pun’s legac. The event was not open to the public, but it was attended by close family and friends including a few industry cats. From what I was told, his daughter Vanessa serenaded the crowd with her version of Whitney Houston’s classic song "I Will Always Love You.” People that were there made donations to Pun's family and his foundation. There is supposedly going to be a concert in homage to Mr. C. Rios in the near future and this is just the precursor to that show.
On the others side, I heard Green from Gino Green made a donation of some sort, because he was solicited to help out.
ILLSEED’S QUICKIES
Lady Drama hit me with some audio on Danity Kane and the boy band that’s down with Diddy. Danity Kane reveals some nastiness and Wendy Williams supposedly thanks the boys for being gay. I didn’t even know they were…I didn’t listen to the audio either.
Does 50 Cent want to scoop Ashanti? That’s the rumor, but I don’t see that happening since Olivia got bodies and he dissed Ashanti in the past.
Speaking of Murder Inc., I heard my girl Vita got a deal somewhere at a major label.
Peedi Crakk is now a free agent. I suggest he head on down to Koch with that Roc album (if he owns it) and get it poppin’ for the people.
SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!
You know, when you are the center of a Civil Rights movement, you are supposed to play the part. Not these Jena 6 guys! They would rather throw up gang signs and put money in their mouth. Anyway, one of those Jena Sixers has been arrested. Here is the report from The Dallas Morning News:
Bryant Purvis, 19, was charged with misdemeanor assault and released from the Denton County Jail early Thursday morning after posting $1,000 bond. Mr. Purvis, one of the black teens known as the Jena Six, was accused of choking and pushing Christopher Jones because he believed Mr. Jones had vandalized his car.
All the tires on Purvis’ car were flattened and he duffed out the first person that was accused. His mother said that the family is still stressed out over the Jena Six situation. I think they need to consider home schooling. You just can’t go choking people! What if Rosa Parks went choking people out?! Martin Luther King?
