    TODAY'S RUMORS

    DID KANYE GET MAD AT SUMMER JAM?

    Now, I got wind of this last night as I added the Summer Jam Summary, but I didn’t mention it. Why? It was after I accidentally deleted all my rumors. So, there are two tiers to this. First of all during his performance, which I heard was very good, Kanye kept referring to him closing the show –as if he was closing the show. The only thing, despite his repeated mentions, he wasn’t closing the show. The legendary Public Enemy was closing the show. Now, from what I heard Kanye did have the best show of the night, but somehow the Summer Jam organizers threw a money wrench in the program. They announced that there was going to be a surprise guest AFTER Public Enemy. Usually, the last act catches a bad one, because everybody starts leaving the venue on them. The closer? Jim Jones and Dipset! I heard Kanye was not pleased at the ideal that Jim was last on the bill. On the real side, headlining isn’t all its cracked up to be.

    …AND WHY WASN’T RIHANNA AT SUMMER JAM?

    People that attended expected Rihanna to close out Summer Jam, but suddenly Jim Jones pops up. That was an odd experience, because fans expected to see the sexy siren at the “jam.” She just was a no-show. But people that were watching MTV saw her and Chris Brown at the MTV movie awards in all its pop glory. Could it be that Ri Ri has totally crossed over? Speaking of crossover, Alicia Keys did the gulliest move of Summer Jam, she brought out Wu Tang and Maino during her set. Wow. She crosses over like Iverson!

    DIDDY AND CAMERON DIAZ?

    Diddy was all hugged up on Cameron Diaz - again? I’m growing a bit weary about these rumors. This one was perpetuated by the NY Daily News at a party Prince had at his house. And they said the following:

    Sly Stallone, John Legend, Eddie Murphy, Babyface and other guests were riveted by the 2 1/2-hour backyard concert the funkster gave to launch his book, "21 Days." But Diaz and Diddy seemed only to have eyes for each other.

    During the show, they laughed and held hands. At one point, while Diddy sipped a Grey Goose, Cameron told him he "must" try her bread pudding, which she proceeded to spoon-feed him. After some whispering, Diddy nodded toward Prince's mansion.

    Once inside, he led Diaz by the hand through its labyrinthine corridors to Prince's basement. That's where we came upon the entranced twosome standing in the theater's doorway. Diddy was bringing his lips toward hers when he realized someone was approaching. Smiling, they closed the theater's door and locked it. We heard them giggling inside.

    Diddy said he and Diaz did not go into a private room at the Sub-Mercer, adding, "It is ridiculous that two celebrities of the opposite sex can't just hang out with a group of friends without it being reported as more than that. We are just friends.”

    See, they are just friends – just like me and Kelly Rowland.

    LIL’ WAYNE AND THE DJ’S

    I don’t know if you heard, but DJ Drama had Lil’ Wayne on his show and let the New Orleans rep explain himself a bit more on that “F**k DJ’s” fiasco. Click here to listen for Lil’ Wayne’s lament. Also, if you want to compare, click here for the original comments. Anyway, I heard SOME DJ’s are still very pissed at Weezy and have offered his whole album for download on their myspace pages! Sheeeesh. What a grudge! Anyway, some mixtape DJ’s aren’t taking Drama’s route and are saying “f**k Wayne.” I don’t know!

    INADEQUATE BLACK MALE…

    This lady is snappin’ over Obama beating Hillary. What an idiot. Voting Republican because you’re Democratic nominee doesn’t win? Not a wise old woman or a McCain “plant” by the Replublican party.

    JAY-Z DOING IT UP IN THE UK!

    Jay-Z is all ready to celebrate, b***hes! Noel Gallagher – whoever you are – get back under that rock. Jay is reportedly flying in all sorts of exotic liquors and whatever in honor of his looming Glastonbury festival appearance. They say Jay is going to really go all out because of the criticism that Hip-Hop isn’t really a good look for the festival. Pluss, he heard Will Smith, Tom Cruise and David/Vicky Beckham did it super big last year. Glastonbury festival runs from June 27 to June29.

    NEW B.O.B. with RICH BOY – “HATERZ EVERYWHERE”

    WHOA – ROYCE AND BUDDEN II?

    “You need to look at my track record I’m spazz happy/

    I heard a well-known f*g just took a jab at me/

    Yeah, you already know what I do to fools/

    So when I see you I ain’t gon’ be in the Muzik Mood"

    -Royce Da 5’ 9”

    Royce Da 5’ 9” and Joe Budden might be right on time to do their thing for AllHipHop Week’s 5th Year Anniversary and AHH’s 10th year celebration. Royce just released a new freestyle rap and he’s making some clear and obvious disses at Joe Budden. Now, I know Royce typically stays dormant, but goes off if somebody mentions his name. So, I am going to go out on a limb and speculate that Joe Budden probably did an interview, which said something that urked The D native. Well, last year AHH tried to get these two on the same stage and then Joe’s brother got shot. Then, Mistah F.A.B. came in and was a problem on that SOB’s stage. Nevertheless, we have to see how this pans out. If you missed it, it seemed like he dissed T-Pain too.

    Check it out here.

    ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

    Cracked Out: Actress Tatum O'Neal has been arrested for using crack! You might not know her and I don’t really either, but she an Academy Award-winning actress.

    Don’t Let The MF Burn: Looks like arson was the case they gave ‘em. Whoever burnt 50’s house is in trouble!

    Alibi City: 50 Cent was nowhere near his home when it was burned to the ground. He was in Louisiana filming a movie.

    Sticky Fingaz For Real: Onyx rapper Sticky Fingaz was recently kickin’ the willie bobo’s to Kim Kardashian. Careful, Sticky…you might get stuck in something.

    LMAO @ WHITEY!

    Am I wrong for laughing at this? They are now suggesting that there is a new video where Michelle Obama said “whitey.” To all my white friends, tell me is this offensive or how offensive. I personally think “honky” is the illest word George Jefferson ever spit on network TV. Nas should call his album “Honky.” Hahahahahaha!

    NAS IN CONCERT – THE WHOLE THING

    Nas was live in concert in Halifax at The Cunard Center in Canada. I heard that Nas is still calling his album N****r. I can’t call it. I guess he feels it is what it is even if he was forced to change it commercially. "Wheres all my rebel mutha f***ks at?...Ya'll know the new album coming July 1st..The name is N***er..to them we are the hypocrisy and the bulls***t of this world..Its not just blacks, they treating woman like n***as and white people like n***as too...The powers that be are trying to wipe us all out."

    For the rest of the show, check out my homey Khalistic.

    ILLPICS WEEKEND OF THE LADIES

    I was looking at pics over the weekend and there were some good looking ladies over the weekend too.

    Meagan Good

    Jennifer Hudson

    Nick Cannon' wife

    Fergie

    First off all Im not gon lie Im a big Jay Z fan so when Wayne first started the whole im the best rapper alive shit it raised a major red flag with me. Not taking anything from Wayne he a good m.c. who consistently drops hot mix tapes and remix verses but when it comes time to drop the album he falls short. That being said how do you think you the greatest? Now being a true fan of hip hop I try to leave these niggas personal lives and views on certain shit out of the equation and try to let they music speak for them and draw my opinion of that but this lil nigga Wayne done did it this the final straw. Not only has he been outed as being the homo mc according to rumors but this interview with drama did it for me. I listened to the first 1 where he like fuck d.js and the whole 9 but turn around and goes back on his statement and inserts dramas dick in his mouth now erything is gud with the dj? who the fuck this dude think he is? He average at best I here shit on myspace better than him. Out off all the cats in the game he the last who need to be proclaiming he the greatest. Confidence a kill you some time and i think his death in the game is fast approaching. FUCK WAYNE!!(NO HOMO)

    Jay-Z - I like how how always goes beyond expectations when ever they tell him he can't do something.  Real Nigga'

    Nas- I don't care what you call the album but you better bring it on the records.

    Don't care about any of the other shit, Weezy and Winehouse need to share a room in rehab.

    Ashanti looks like she got three shades lighter, she's gone end up looking like La Toya Jackson.

    Here's my 2 pennies..

    The good music is still there.. it's just not commercialized.. So the good wholesum stuff you grew up on is still there.. And BP I know you dig in the crates so i know you know how to find it.. I agree that 90% of what's commercialized is BS.. Tha'ts where it's up to us old heads (you old not me.. haha) to pass down the talented so that these youngins can really understand what and MC is..

    Lil Wayne, Young Berg, Bow Wow and someof these other cats ar trash.. But even worse is Body guards like Jim jones Rappin.. Come on B.. It's like Virgil coming in on Ted Debiase back.. And he had no wrestling Skills...

    For anyone to come in the game talking about "this aint what I do" that's a problem for me.. Because If this aint what you do, then why are you doing it.. And why would anybody want an ablum for of "swagger" with not talent?? Nothing will get accomplished that way.. All this Cocaine rap need to Cease as well.. Those are my 2 pennies

    I don't think it's  as  simple as supply and demand, because that doesn't take into account teh brainwashing advertising, maovies, images, soundbites and mass media that goes into the production of an "image", "scene", "or style". It's the lifestyle that gets sold that is cancerous, not so much the music. The music is just the vehicle for the message. Who's message is getting sent? Sounds to me like you are saying that somone (i dunno who) figured out that the greatest way to effect the black population was though music and set about taking control of the one thing not even the slave owners could control.

    of who the smurfs?

    Kimbo Slice a bodygaurd

    that fat ninja from "Rob and Black" a bodyguard

    shieet I did some bodyguard work before...

    but Skinny ass midget ass Jimmy Jones?

    Inquiring minds wanna know homie....

    And BlackPeeps1 wasn't born in the 70's so he cant have the distinguished honor of being one of us Gen X's heads lol...he seem old cuz he got an old soul.

    @BlackPeeps1

    "Sheeple"

    you know about the mathematics homie...

    People ain't ready to ride or sacrifice....

    Most of these people posting on here saying they wanna save hiphop wouldn't do what it took if they had to sacrifice an artist they liked

    Shieet I cut Jay-Z ass off After that Blue Print 2 double cd garbage I only bought the next one and haven't bought another album from that clown yet.

    Jigga piss me off by making Black Folk look bad by still rappin about some drug life he aint lived since cross colours was out.

    Made a whole "Blue Majic" album about selling drugs and they all went bought it up.  Sayin how ill it was?

    Yeah Ill in the sense of Casino, Heat, and Scarface was ill

    but those were all theatrical presentations....same as Jay-Z talkin this thug drug life.

    he robbin fools blind talkin that bullshit...

    If Jigga cared sumin he coulda made an album about hiphop and change the game altogether.

    He could have cats breakin and all kinds of shit, could put on a major tour with real HipHop heads

    Instead of rappin about drugs, teach these young heads about the stock market, how to get that real dough, business or sumin!

    But then again people got the right to listen to what ever they want and it's a bizness

    just don't feed me that real hiphop shit if your artist aint true to the form.

    Jigga is still one of the illest lyrically, but so is Eminem and if you ain't rappin bout nuttin that makes sense to me then that's a waste or rhyme skillz if you ask me.

    I feel your pain sir. All the albums you mentioned are great albums. The style of a concept album seems lost on many people as a result of the musical landscape we are in today.

    The thing that is unfortunate about leaking albums is that the public does not hear the album in its true context.

    What album have you listened to in its entirety as of late? The last one I have listened to consistently has been Erykahs last joint and Rising Down by the Roots.

    We have to be more demanding and discerning as consumers/downloaders when it comes to what we expect from an artist.

    We got Microwave Emcees now...pop it in for a few minutes and   brothers talkin bout they got that HOT SHIT....and they might but I would rather have a home cooked meal that a TV dinner anyway. Damn ENCORE emcees...lol

    here it is

    Rappers Delight (the new Slavery)

    Signed my name on the dotted line with dollar signs stuck in my eyes. Never did read the fine print, about how I was about to be pimped. They brought me for some trinkets made out of platinum, diamonds and gold. Made me change my name so that I could reach their targeted demographics and they would buy my music. Told me to change my voice, my pitch, my tone that and payola guaranteed me radio play.  They put me in a dark studio and had me create pop driven rap hits, feed me a constant line of liquor, ladies and drugs to keep me driven. They wanted me to dress a certain way in order to promote my image as something other than what I already was; now I’m a cross over smash and my situations got me making the company loads of cash. I’m told before I can receive any dough I have to pay off what I already owe. That I incurred multiple expenses with all the clothes, chicks and hydro. Now I’m stuck with a deal to produce more hits and come up with their money quick. Working for new Masters made sure to get that put in the deal. Making the company a bigger success with the sweat off my back, my lines, my bars my flow that they paid for. I’ve garnered the light and fame I’ve always wanted but to the people who I grew up with I’m just a house nigger. What’s worse is I’ve sold my boys out to the same industry promised them they’d be as famous; I got the latest in glitter for garnering the deal. No longer aware of who I really am lost in the stardom forgot where I came from but aware something is wrong. Trying my best to get out from underneath this deal, working the streets for support found another label that doesn’t agree with the way I’ve been treated. It took some time but I was released from my deal the campaign earned me my freedom.

    No one me and some of my peeps think he should stay the independent route he got it in his release papers that anytime he need a beat Dre'll give him the fam discount he's better off signing with a Duckdown or Blacksmith but he's shopping himself next album is supposed to be named Free Agent (not the bricks pt2)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ok, then yes he should definitely remain independant. Didnt know all this. I really like him, he's what i like to consider clean and direct with his lyrical content. Hes really refreshing to listen to without all that glitz and glamour b.s. that most "artists" have. He doesnt water down his stuff or restrict his talent like the other trash thats out there. What happened with him and Dre??
    I think your piece was good. It said what alot of artists feel. I always felt that it's artists who give so much for their craft, artists who've known real struggle that have the more poingnant messages. It's usually their style and sound that gets jacked by the big labels, homogenized and resold as pop music. i saw  a t-shirt once that said " Art Saves Lives". I said to the girl wearing it, "You're half right. Art saves lives, but kills artists". They take what's most precious to us and they corrupt it and sell it back to us.
    Black marchers protest St. Louis crime, violence
    By CHERYL WITTENAUER
    Associated Press Writer
    ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Throngs of ministers, Black Panthers and other black men hungry for change marched through a historically black St. Louis neighborhood Sunday to protest violence, with women cheering them from the sidelines.
    Crowds that organizers estimated at 50,000 walked to Tandy Park, across from Sumner High School, the first black high school west of the Mississippi River. It was there that one of Sumner's famous graduates, the late Arthur Ashe, honed his tennis skills.
    "There is no better time than now to pick up the little brother," said Sheldon Scott, 51, of suburban Jennings. "We are letting our children get away from us."
    As of Thursday, the city had 61 homicides this year, 15 more than in the same period last year. There were 138 homicides in the city during all of last year.
    Marchers and residents watching from doorsteps said they were tired of black-on-black crime and the social ills that feed it. They said that together they can work for improvements.
    Black ministers, businessmen and community leaders have been working since February on a plan dubbed "Call to Oneness" to reduce crime and violence and resurrect struggling neighborhoods in St. Louis.
    They have called it nothing short of a "state of emergency" that demands immediate attention.
    "It's really awesome to see the black community come together for a peaceful purpose," said Shannon Malone, 27, of suburban University City as she held her toddler. "There's an urgency to stop all these homicides."
    As the march neared Tandy Park, where organizers challenged the crowd to be accountable to one another, 56-year-old retired carpenter James Bailey said the solution is simple.
    "We need to show young people we have to learn to love one another," he said. "We need more community activities. We need to take back our society as men. And we need to pray a little more for one another. There's only one race, the human race."
When i see these cats out there fakin' the funk sayin' they did this or that, when they didn't; or these candy coated groups and solo artists stealing from dudes like BIG and Pac, I just lose it. Some people have no idea about the creative process, so when they see an artist and think they are something they're not, they're being lied to and sold a lie.
    Real HipHop?
    it's more complex than some of the things you said... I think that's were the ambiguity lays, cuz some people don't know what were talking about when we say "real Hiphop"
    First off I listened to west coast artist before I moved out there...
    West artist, south and north get love from me.
    HipHop isn't just someone rappin about his environment
    Hiphop is
    The music
    The D.J.
    The tags (grafitti)
    Breakin
    The e-m-c-e-e- "smooth operator operating correctly" lol
    that's Five prongs, Five fingas of death right there...
    Thats hiphop....
    Rakim is real Hiphop
    WU is real Hiphop
    NWA is real hiphop
    Crooked I is real hiphop
    Tha Liks is real hiphop
    Slum Village is real hiphop
    Andre 3 stacks is real hiphop
    Now not all artist will have all the variances of Hiphop but they do pay homage to the real!
    and finally.....
    Nigga stop being so damn sensitive when nobody say nuttin bout the WEst lmao...maybe dat dude don't like no West artist...
    remember when cristal made them bogus comments about it wasnt their intent for our culture to be using their product or some shit like that??? then niggas started being like fuck cristal...we made yall all this money shoutin yall out on records and buyin that shit everywhere we go and thats how you think of us??? so niggas start boycotting the shit
    my point is crystal always felt this way about us and we continued to support them cuz we aint know how they really felt until they made them comments
    same thing applies to life in general...you cant blame a nigga for supporting or buying into something not knowing....but if you do know the truth and you still suporting it you got shit fucked up.
    You pretty much summed it up, fam... no to further expound.
    On one hand, consider this--> if you're a young thundercat, you have young views of the world.  With that said, your world probably doesn't expand beyond your block/hood/city/state/borough/commonwealth, etc.  Hard to see the world thru a different set of eyes if your world is only "thisbig".  You like what you like... and that's it!
    Comparable to when Ice Cube declared, "Hip Hop started in the West!" a few yrs back.  If your perception is already jaded (territorial), then you would take offense to that statement. If you're slick enuff to listen beyond his words, you'd agree its a true statement... For Cube, it did start in the West; for Scarface, it started in the South, etc.
    True Hip Hop:  being true to yourself, your craft, your core base & not compromising your artistic or personal intregrity in the process.
    alright ken, i'm a keep it real wit you.
    we gon talk about some shit that nobody ever talks about.
    i already see where everybody at on the board so my perspective and outlook on everyone has changed.
    so lemme give you some straight talk.
    your question was how come all the east coast cats don't talk about the south and the west coast cats when the topic of
    "True Hip Hop" comes up?
    first off cuz the south is corny.
    point blank.
    second the west coast is comin around. slowly but surely.
    too short is corny compared to someone even mediocre from the east like positive K or phife or d-nice.
    i don't really care if anybody takes this disrepectfully.
    i try to encourage an arena of honesty.
    i'm a tell it like it is.
    on the large scale, you know i got love for all my people of color. unflinching love.
    but on this music thing?
    matter fact, lemme make that plain for you.
    we went over this before, but if there was a heirarchy of identity, it would something like this.
    1. species
    2. gender
    3. race
    4. religious preference
    5. so on...
    6. and so forth...
    7. and so on...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    14 taste in art.
    so this what we talkin bout.
    but as far as that important shit up at the top of list?
    i don't get sidetracked. i ain't got it twisted. i love my people of color. i know what's important.
    but.
    but. let's go head and rap about music.
    so now.
    the east get it first.
    the west get it second.
    the country (south & midwest) get it last.
    the sun rises in the east.
    this country was developed westward.
    meaning the east was set up first.
    none of this is my opinion.
    it's your facts.
    when you deal in honesty, this is what you get.
    now, culturally?
    what city is the gateway to the world?
    go head. say it out loud.
    NYC
    shit comes through that gateway, then afterwards branches out in different directions.
    the further you are away from the sun the colder and more outta touch you'll be.
    there is no west coast counterpart to rakim nas big pun or az.
    there is no equivalent in the country either.
    sure i hear you guys "you 'ont understand our swag. cuz that's not how we do it around here."
    cool.
    but that's not how it's done.
    Wow...very poignant and valid question. My most honest response to this question is that you give Diddy and Jay waaaay to much credit. I say this because we have been sold into slavery many times over.
    Bob Johnson with all the great strides he has made within our community and powerful accomplishments, set us back when he put our "Visual" into the hands of an establishment that does not have the best interest of our community in mind.
    We must create a vehicle that speaks to the Hip Hop community  specifically and the world as a whole in a manner that shows who we are at our best.
    People like P Diddy...Jay Z...Russell Simmons...LL Cool J...represent a greatness that can be accomplished.
    KRS One is a self educated teacher who speaks on a college circut that includes many of our top universities. This is us at our best.
    ...so to answer your question...If P Diddy and Jay Z sold me into  slavery...i wouldn't celebrate them...I would GET FREE.
    HipHop is also the most dynamic and various form of music currently on the board. There is no other form of musical expression with the variety of sounds, influences, appeal and impact. I mean, they were puttin Ozzy Osbourne and Marlyn Manson on blast, but they convened the FBI for Ice T and Easy E.
    @ bp1- you normally say some potent shit and what i can see where you comin from but i gotta disagree with you...
    i guess it all leads to what you think hip hop is...you mentioned rakim, big pun, nas, and az...so you must be talkin about the lyrical aspect of hip hop...lets not forget...there is more to hip hop than the words you used and your rhyme scheme....
    you said too short is corny...short speaks on what he sees and to me he speaks alot more realer shit than most of these niggas out...we can even take it back...peep these my nigga
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=EOnPJegjUts
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=izB85LUlygE
    if that aint real shit to niggas...i dont know what real is...now lets take big pun (rip)...the nigga spit but what did he talk about??? im the best rapper...i got the most jewels...i got the most bitches...hey, i liked the nigga but keep it real.
    i guess my question boils down to what hip hop is to you....for some people its the concept...for some its the lyrical wordplay...to some its reality rap...and to some its swag....everybody entitled to they own opinion but niggas be quick to leave out the west coast and south when we talk about hip hop...yeah it started in the east and yall can have that shit but just as in anything shit evolves...yall gotta let it evolve and accept other shit
    but i feel yall though...yall cant feel our music...just how alot of west coast niggas dont feel that boom bap shit....personally i fucks with all regions...if its real than its hip hop
    It always seemed like the East had their history of struggle. NYC was always know as the roughest city. They had that image and ran with it. Then other cities like Philly and Detroit and B'more started gettin' bad. Westcoast had the different vibe, 'cause it was gangland one minute, beach cruisin' the next. Of course you could always be shot on the way to the beach. The only thing the westcoast  and eastcoast ever agreed on was how badly everybody hated police. I'm sure everyone out west thought NYPD was more crooked than LAPD 'till Rodny King. I'm way up here, so Scarface is as old as the South gets for me. When was Face's first album? Personally, I started listening to Eric B and Rakim & Big Daddy Cane at the same time as NWA and Ice T. I got introduced to Rap by a dude from Chicago back in 89-90. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Still do.
    Big Pun- Capital Punishment
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=4_MCBR_e4ZI
    [Big Pun]
    It's mine; it's all mine you understand?
    At least me and my peoples
    Can you dig that?
    21st century -- thought I'd never see it
    Right around the corner, baby
    Ours for the taking
    [Verse one: Big Pun]
    Yo; I've seen child blossom to man,
    some withered and turned to murderers
    Led astray by the liars death glorifiers observin us
    Watching us close, marking our toast ??
    purposely overtaxin the earnings
    Nervous, burning down the churches
    They're scared of us, rather beware than dare to trust
    Always in jail, million dollar bail, left there to rust
    Let's call in order, give ourselves a chance to enhance broader
    Advance to where minorities are the majority voter
    Holdin my own, I'm livin alone in this cold world
    My sister just bought a home without a loan, you go girl!
    She's an exception, some people can leap to the impression
    See, me myself, I start flippin and fall victim to deep depression
    I'm stressin the issue here, so we can cross the fiscal year
    Tired of gettin fired and hired as a pistol-eer
    There's no longevity living off negativity
    Fuck it, I'd rather sell reefer than do pizza delivery
    That's how the city be, everybody gettin they hustle on
    Judge singin death penalty like it's his favorite fuckin song
    Word is bond, takin my life you know they lovin it
    God 'F' the government and it's fuckin capital punishment!
    [Chorus: Prospect]
    Capital punishment, given by the government
    System so organized they get to you and who you runnin with
    Can't live alone, watch for the spies and tapped phones
    Totin the llello for life, the rightful heir to the throne
    We come from Kings and Queens, people with dreams, Gods and Earths
    For what it's worth, we benefit the Earth with infinite worth
    First it's turnin tables, open our own labels
    Disable the Republicans, then reverse capital punishment
    [Verse Two: Big Pun]
    I've seen it all up close, shit out the movies you'd be buggin
    My cousin JuJe, barely a juve', lost it and turned on the oven
    He wasn't playin, blew out the flame and started inhalin
    Barin a secret too deep to keep on the street for sharin
    Wearin the virus, Acquired Immune Deficiency
    Dishin his dick in every thick promiscuous fish in the sea
    Listen to me, shit is rough in the ghetto
    You bluff, blow your head off, fuck a snuff, we bust lead off!
    Get off your high horse, or die off like an extinction
    Boriquans are like Mohicans, +The Last of the Po'Ricans+
    We need some unity, fuck all the jeeps and jewelry
    The maturity, keeps me six feet, above obscurity
    The streets are deadly and everybody's a desperado
    I guess the motto we promise to let you homage in death your motto
    Like Zorro, I mark my territory with a symbol
    Not with a Z, but a P, cause Punishment's what I resemble!
    I lend you this if it expands yours, for you and yours
    A real man can't fall, he stands tall
    The Man's claws are diggin in my back, I'm tryin to hit him back
    Time to counteract, where my niggaz at?
    [Chorus]
    [Verse Three: Prospect]
    You like that, it's Pun and Prospect
    We hold nines, own more treasure than gold mines, makin progress
    With Don Juan's, there's rules to be made, crews to be sprayed
    Dues to be paid, nuttin y'all can do to behave
    We laid in the slums, made a cake out of crumbs
    Even though the government, tryin to take out our sons
    Rudy Gulliani trying to blind me, but I see reality
    Was raised with the street mentallity
    My strategy's why my battery never die
    The ghetto kept me wise, so I would never fall to the lies
    It's no surprise, but do or die if you want the glamour
    Yeah, I want the glamour, laid up with cheese and trees in Atlanta
    While Cuban's smoked out like Ronald Isley with Havanas
    The hammer in the palm, never shaky, calm handlers
    This renegade blow through barricades like grenades
    I turn the sun to shade, then the night back to day
    Like the twenty-four hour rotation
    I know the location, it's just a little in-for-mation
    @ bp1- i can dig it...now about the other shit....alot of our people in general do not know alot of shit...whether that comes from being uneducated, not well read, or just desiring to be ignorant...so that is why you see all of this bullshit and our people getting led astray
    but for the most part...when you sit someone down and let them know what is going on, they soak that shit up like a sponge and act accordingly...i dont think that we are that dumb as a people that we would continue supporting those who could give a fuck about us....at least i hope so
    i think the major problem is that "we dont know" as a people...lets talk in general...niggas dont be knowin about politics...niggas dont know about the current state of the govenment...but if you ask a nigga what soldier boy new song is he can tell you
    we put our priorities in the wrong place...we like to entertain and watch entertainment before we like to educate and get educated...and its been like that for the longest...so you cant blame this on the young generation...they are being educated by the oldheads...if the oldheads aint givin us no knowledge its up to us to go seek that knowledge..but it be hard as fuck when you come from a fucked up environment and all you see is negative shit...that shit would warp a nigga mind
    i aint sayin im the only solution to the problem...i be fuckin up too...you see how i get on this bitch and be clownin..and i dont think theres nothin wrong with it..you need a mixture of everything...but when its time to talk about serious issues ill always spit on how i feel because the next nigga might feel the same..or he might wanna speak on it but cant develop his thoughts
    im startin to go all over the place with this shit but im sure you feel what im talkin bout
    the only way diddy and jay will go into history is as just brainwashing money-slaves ...
    money changes ppl and even if the intention was great in the beginning, it got lost in the greed ...
    none of those two put voice to the real issues that are out on the streets ...
    but ken, i think that's why at some point we gotta start askin the bigger questions.
    like what's the root of this shit?
    when did it happen?
    who were the catalysts?
    who ushered this shit in?
    you know, you can drop any name of any hip hop song into youtube that was released before '97 and scroll through the comments and you'll see people expressin how they feel about what's goin on.
    all them comments ain't me.
    sike, of course you know that.
    but now if we've identified a weed we should go to it's root.
    otherwise the weed might spring up again.
    that's what i mean about the "what's real hip hop" being an old argument.
    everyone with a set of ears the world over knows something is off.
    now we need to try and figure what happened.
    who did it.
    and most importantly why.
    see, what i'm sayin?
    they used horse-breaking tactics to get us this way.
    and they say we are only capable of horse logic or "1-2 thinking"
    which means, stimulus - reaction.
    but we should be looking deeper than 1 or 2 steps.
    we can look deeper.
    we bout to start.
    Ok, I c u, but now I think ur tryna discredit me, b/c I'm a female, that I'm automatically gon look @ a man wearin a feminine purse and say "that's hot". I'm not even a purse freak, I could care less about hella purses, high heels, and accessories, I just get the 1-color-fits-all purses, heels, and jewelry b/c I gotta when I step out, I do a lotta shows. I'mma spend up some1's money at a bookstore, or on some black art, fuck a pair of heels, that diva shit is just extra baggage to bein a female MC, I'm in my element in the studio, not Macy's.  So, yes, I think Kanye can dress, I don't think he's too feminine at all. Rockin a fuzzy pink beret w/ a fuzzy pink sweater, talkin on a sparkly pink phone is gay, I'm gettin naseated just picturing them photos of ya boy Cam. I'm sorry, Camron is not gettin the pass for that shit, I'm bout to lose my midnight snack thinkin bout him in all that damn pink. And Hip-Hop is the podium for the underprivileged, the streets, and all of those w/ creativity about to burst outta their seams w/ no forum to express that creativity. You don't hafta be bussin' guns to be Hip-Hop, HIP-HOP IS NOT JUST STREETS AND CRIME, all u gotta do is be up under that thick line between privilege and poverty, etc. Just b/c Kanye is not a street dude does not mean he's not Hip-Hop, and talkn bout how u'll kill the next black face u were taught to hate in the mirror and in the next man is not gangsta, hit me when they start bussin on crooked cops, then I'll get all starry eyed like when I met Bobby Seale.  Half these rappers wouldn't have ignored the teleprompter to say shit when that Hurricane Katrina telethon was on, cuz they still scared of the white man or not gettin that white money, or otherwise don't feel any passion or emotion about the issue anyway, a buncha fuckn Sambos. Kanye is hard to me cuz he could give a fuck about the status quo.
    @Adopefemale-lol...damn mah u just said a mouth full....nah why u gotta get defensive....I mean simply females look @ shyt dif then males our make up is dif....I came 2 that conclusion from ur avi....not in a mad way but u fresh in them shyts....alwayz....lipgloss glisenin...(I like)...so im like aight so I see her angle u gonna look @ the produt gucci...boom...ima look @ how the product makes that person look.....that aint u cool...u a tommy chick this and that...cool...u wanna spend ur money on books I feel u...in ur avi u fresh...u aint in no sweats & classics readin a book so u see where im comin from.....but nah I aint discredit u....just vibin....I felt as though ur tryin 2 disscredit me with that street shyt.....a street ni99a can never win yo....either u wild out or u dont see the big pic....never mind this whole axis called "hip hop" was created for the street ni99a my the street ni99a........eyo mah....street ni99as are inteligent, follow polotics know whats goin on in the world and are up on shyt....put a street ni99a anywhere in this world and he gonna make it happen...one way or another.....look Kanye make good music sometimes that everyone bumps from the burbs 2 the hoods......the hoods hand out the crown though(peep 50 fallin off).....music's for everyone no doubt....but u CANT HAVE THE CROWN WHERE U WEAR NUTHUGGERS point blank.....shyt aint hip hop......Kanye like controversy like a chick would.....why u think he crys all the time...(and I like him but as a real ni99a I call it like I see it)......don't think this ni99a a political activist and all that he just said some shyt ni99as would talk about....I see that he happened 2 speak da truth...so what...ni99as on here yapin all day long...WHAT ARE THEY REALLY DOIN....Ye wasnt or hasnt been in any hoods protestin the Sean Bell jont....no major artist jumped on it.....that jesus walks joint...its smoke screens the ni99a plays offa emotions....I just dont c it like that...damn i ODed my bad
    If something is "lost" that implies that it can be found. I understand the passion behind your argument, however the technology and the resources available in this day and age make it more possible than anytime in history for an individual to seek and "find" what speaks to them.
    With respect to Diddy and Jay...you said"none of those two put voice to the real issues that are out on the streets "
    The ability to raise oneself out of poverty...come out of the shadows of arguably two of the best who ever did it and with the help of his partner Dame introduce the world to one of the greatest talents in music...(Kanye)...then Preside over a label who blessed us with the likes of Run DMC, LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys...and recently setting up a trust fund for the children of Sean Bell...is addressing what is possible within the realm of Hip Hop.
    Diddy was an intern and in turn (thats my Jay Z double entendre)...worked his way up the ladder and blessed us with an artist who many consider to be the best to ever hold a mic...he has created a brand with his name.
    Once again this shows what is possible within the realm of Hip Hop.
    I understand the power of music. This is why I choose to combat the overwhelming negativity that permeates the airwaves, with substance and integrity...go check me out...
    When I say...Quick to listen. Slow to speak. It serves as a reminder to me that everyones voice should be heard good or bad. The individual makes the choice as to what direction they want to follow.
    So.. I'm not crying...I'm simply voicing my opinion and providing a solution to what I have an issue with.
    First off I know 120, just so you understand who you dealin with.
    I deal in equality.
    I'm not Lookin Up...there is no God in the sky...I'm simply stating the the possibilities within power of this culture.
    Once again I deal in equality...knowing that I understand the balance that exists.
    There is no good without bad...if there was, how would you know the difference?
    You said
    "their bad outweighs their good."
    Ok...lets say that is true...for who am I to measure someones deeds...the fact still remains that they have done "good".
    They have done this good in Hip Hop. My focus is on the greatness that can be achieved through this culture and my music is a testament to that.
    Cheney apologizes to West Virginians for inbreeding joke
    Posted: 08:30 PM ET
    From CNN White House Correspondent Ed Henry
    WASHINGTON (CNN) – Vice President Dick Cheney apologized Monday for what his spokeswoman called "an inappropriate attempt at humor" that implied that inbreeding is common among West Virginians, a remark that elicited outrage from the state's senior senator.
    Asked during a question-and-answer session at the National Press Club about the fact that a search of his family tree found he is a distant relative of Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential front-runner, Cheney said the two politicians were unlikely to hold a family reunion.
    He said that the Cheney line on his father's side of the family dates to 1630's, and a Cheney family line on his mother's side dates to the 1650's.
    "So, I had Cheneys on both sides of the family — and we don't even live in West Virginia," Cheney cracked. After pausing for laughter from the crowd, Cheney added, "You can say those things when you're not running for re-election."
    Afterward, West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd lashed out at Cheney for the "insult to all Americans." In a written statement, Byrd declared that Cheney showed "contempt and astounding ignorance toward his own countrymen" with the comments.
    Well, MaryJaneshusband said no more updates on ex-homegirl unless I kicked her out of a moving car, but seeing as this has the same effect, I hope, here goes...
    Last wednesday I finally cut her out of my life FOR GOOD, or so I thought. As in no more talking AT ALL. I THOUGHT she understood that, but then...
    she calls me 3 times thursday, but i didnt answer. u'd think she'd get the hint, right? WRONG! She calls again saturday and leaves a voicemail, then again yesterday. Today she calls at 6:30 and leaves a voicemail, i dont answer. then calls again twice at like 7:00, so i turn my phone off. i turn it back on and RIGHT THEN she calls again, so i turn it BACK off.
    then 10 minutes later turn it back on, and have THREE new voicemails. I go to listen to them (its around 7:45) and my mom walks in the room asking what cheri looks like. Turns out shes outside my freaking door!
    I go outside to talk to her and she wants to come inside, so i take her into my room, and she proceeds to try to get me to have sex with her. I tell her no (my mom's right outside in the living room) but she tries to pull me back in!
    So i took her outside... and she tried to have sex with me there too!
    Took her to her car to try to get her to go home, but she says she wants to talk, so i listen and get in, and she tries to do it there, too!
    Then my dad pulls up so she says she wants to go for a drive around the block so we can talk and say goodbye, and I think its over so i go with it, but she tries AGAIN!
    Finally i get her to drop me off at my house, but just as i try to get out of the car she starts kissing me again and touching me and shit, and kept trying to for like 10 minutes. she'd be like "I dont want to have sex with you, just talk!" but then when i came up to her she'd try AGAIN.
    In the end I got her to go home but it took like 30 minutes to do it, and she said "When you decide to be a real man (meaning have sex with her), call me."
    WHAT PART OF NO doesn't she understand. All I can say is that REALLY didnt make me want to be with her, and she was definitely drunk, which is big b/c remember she's on probation and all that shit.
    shit needs to be called what it is ... i'm not with sugarcoating the truth ... just because they did one or two good things here and there doesn't make them revolutionists in hip hop ... just like bp1 said ... the bad outweighs the good ... it's not so much about measuring someones deeds, but judging by their fruits ... and what it comes down to is, you can't worship two gods! it's impossible ...
    it's not about what can be egoistically achieved through the music and culture, but how to change history and make a difference in a positive way ...
    in the end it's every asshole for himself ... it's ok to "prostitute" yourself and your own ppl in order to achieve wealth ... get rich or die tryin' (bugsy, i know ... those idiots are all in the same category in my book) that's what they taught ...
    this what you do. when she come at you like that... reverse the game till she back up off you. say all you want is to hit it. you use her for practice and try out the new shit you seen in a porno, for your real girlfriend.
    let her know it wont ever go beyond that. ya'll fuck buddies. you dont want her homieship neither. no kickin it, goin to the movies, rides to or from anywhere, advice, shoulder to cry on, none of that...
    tell her i'll call you, but you dont call me unless you with this bizness. if she wit it... cool you get some head whenever you want it. if she aint wit it, tell her to keep it pushin kuz thats how its gon be.
    That is valid question. When I say negativity, it is to say I wish to combat the negative element of speech and vibration that reaches our culture through a powerful tool and expression called music.
    I understand the power of "Words"...Word.
    I embrace the art form and the culture. My choice is to be vocal and offer the people a choice.
    Now we agree 90% of the time, but think you may be misunderstanding the content of Nas message, my understanding of his message is the struggle between the haves and the have nots.  The ultimate color ruler is green. Do I agree racisim still exist of course, but its more about money, power and the influences one has on the masses.  Do you think the elite whites give a fuck about the whites who are poor, hell no, as long as they enlist and die for a war that is more about greed and control then the elite will pay silly homage the the vetrans.  In order for the world to be heaven all of us need to stop putting people in category soley on things we differ, difference does not mean defficency or defiant, its just different.  Nas is not perfect but he is making people think and Nas is not te poster child for NY or East Coast so there are others who will and can embark on the great journey, struggle, and fight for justice, love and peace.
    i hear you sister..but if you look at the condition of white people and the state and condition of black people world wide.
    thats a reckless ass statement...
    listen..if you ask black people in the world if they wanna trade places with white..meaning power.. living conditions..money..and treatment..what you think the answer would be..and ask white people if they wanna trade living conditions with blacks..look how we living...look at the people in africa..
    nas made a mockery of every black person that died and suffered in the strugge with that statement...
    why would i care as a black man..about white people who had the world at their feet..every advantage for over 400 plus years in america..going through a little struggle..not slavery or hangins and racism ..poverty..iam suppose to cry over that..
    while my people been getting blazed in america..past present and future..i dont see cops shooting white men 40 times
    you cant put the two in the same catagory..
    where ever you at..i saw your comment on the other board...i aint going into the whole story about white people being devils..i suggest you read up on world history pertaining to whites and other races on the planet earth..read up on gandhi and who he had beef with..then go to nelson mandela and geronimo..and see who they was fighting against..learn the reason why the cia killed che guevara..and read up on who dropped the atomic bomb on japan..
    then you come to your own conclusion about devils demons and what ever else..i cant think for you...if you wanna believe the devil underneath you with a pitchfork..fine
    and i also want you to understand that when i say blackman..i mean aztec and asian people too...people with no birth record..do you know that aztecs mastered mathematics and solar facts..they read earth moon sun and stars..like we read clocks..
    do you ever wonder why dragons which we are taught is a myth..is so prevalent in chinese culture..
    follow the pyramids...they aint only in africa..
    _______________________
    yea i get wat u sayin, i know bout the ppl you mention and just about alot of the real history they dont teach in history class..from the crusades to the massacres of hiroshima and nagasaki..from cia assasinations of black leaders,che guevarra,patrice lumumba and failed assasinations of fidel castro and countless others...the point i was trying to make is that i dont believe in the teaching that all whites are devils..this concept is well known to be attributed to noi and 5%..like i said in the other posts i have talked to noi members and ive been told many things like that and how there was a sceintist on sum island and created white ppl in a lab..yaqub i believe was the name of the scientist or the tribe..not sure this was awhile back..but the main point was that islam itself is not nationalistic..i have many sunni family members and they been schooling me on islam since i was 16..sunni is orthodox islam and majority of muslims on this planet is sunni..shiites and others like noi,5%,bahai make up a small percentage..these sects appeared after the prophet muhammad (pbuh)from the 7th century..islam is complete and doesnt need to be altered or used as a source for new islamic sects..do i believe there is alot of evil white ppl in this counrty? yes but i dont believe they are all evil or inherenly evil as ive heard from the noi..this is the most racist country in the world..in other countries there is racism but not to the extent as in america..racism is a cancer..it will eat at you untill it consumes you..i used to hate white ppl growing up until i learned about islam from my family..its the ideals and idealogies that are instilled in some whites from birth that make them racists..im against the evil sum do but you have that in any race..its bigger than race..im for the upliftment off all oppressed ppl whatever color they are..i could go on and on but the original question i was asking was why mix islam with nationalism..because most muslims i know or known in the past do not consider anybody who does this as muslim..if ppl want to beleive they are gods and all, kool..just dont associate it with islam cuz its not the same thing..but i appreciate your replies..
    You know what I don't know what kind of brother Illseed is to be honest with you. I have never really exchanged any words with him outside of casual comments on the board. His job in regards to the Rumors is to entertain so I think that is what he tries to do on here.
    As far as Nas's statement I think we know what he meant, but it can be easily misconstrued. It's almost like the entire controversy surrounding the word nigger. White people can call each other Niggers, but the social stigma that is attached to the word really has a historical correlation to slavery and black people. So when black people use the word it has a sort of double meaning to it, whereas when we see white people use it, it is difficult to not conjure up images of burning crosses, nooses, and a heightened sense of terror. That is why when white people question our usage of the word, in relation to their usage of the word, they usually get a "nigga please" type of response.
    Crusading for Harmony as a Skinhead Spy; Repentant Racist to Go Into Hiding After Giving Data on New Jersey's Neo-Nazis
    By CLIFFORD J. LEVY, NYTimes
    Published: April 4, 1994
    Dominick Bruno Jr. says he first took a razor to his scalp when he was 15, submitting to the rites of a neo-Nazi skinhead gang that prowled the mall-encrusted landscape of suburban New Jersey. Soon he was preaching bigotry in the schoolyard and flooding increasingly diverse neighborhoods with fliers that said, "Deport Niggers, Spiks, Jews!"
    But recently, something snapped in Mr. Bruno, a leader of the S.S. Action Group, one of the more virulent skinhead gangs.
    He said there was no one incident that inspired the turnaround, though he was impressed by anti-bias literature from the New Jersey Freedom Organization, a nonpartisan advocacy group that lobbies for opportunities for young people. When he resolved to resign, he called Cliff Smith (aka Jubilee Shine), the group's 24-year-old president, seeking help, Mr. Smith said.
    Sgt. Rogers Attacks Those Who Criticize Racist Profiling
    Sgt. Steve Rogers self-promoting & explosive event that will be heard around the nation, (from AmeriCop) has lost some
    of its luster now that it was forced out of Nutley by a grassroots coalition called the Committee to Defeat Racist Profiling.
    Rogers' march to personally greet and encourage State Troopers Hogan and Kenna (the two officers that were charged
    with attempted murder, aggravated assault and falsifying police reports after they shot up a van with four unarmed black
    and Latino young men en route to basketball camp in 1998 which made Racist Profiling a national issue) began to
    unravel last week when his plans were widely and publicly exposed. He has since moved the venue to his guest speaker
    Bob Grant's hometown of Woodbridge/Iselin, where several Indian establishments and homes were vandalized on
    December 12, 1996 one day after Mr. Grant made racist, inflammatory remarks about this very community (As reported
    in'the Home News & Tribune).
    Apparently dismayed at having his plans thwarted to turn Nutley into a platform for his extreme right-wing agenda, Sgt.
    Rogers has now threatened two local boys, Matthew and Cliff Smith (aka Jubilee Shine) both members of the Coalition with lawsuits for libel and slander. This was an transparent attempt to intimidate the Coalition into backing down, as is evidenced by the fact that the written threat was left at the Smith's parents house in Nutley. Both Smiths have stood firm in their position that Sgt. Steven Rogers organization of this divisive event is an effort to condone and promote racist profiling. It is not an effort to support the police in general, as Rogers has claimed.
    Police ask activists to leave NB school
    Issue date: 10/26/00 Section: news
    PrintEmail DoubleClick Any Word Page 1 of 1 Police were called to a scene at New Brunswick High School on Livingston Avenue in the morning on Oct. 25.
    Members of the Campaign for an Elected Board of Education were distributing informational fliers to students when police arrived to ask the activists to leave the school premises, said Joe Smith, campaign member.
    Smith said New Brunswick High School Principal Pierre C. Embry came outside to Joyce Kilmer Avenue to instruct the activists to leave the property.
    "He told us that we couldn't hand out literature there," Smith said. "The police came and told us that it might not be a good idea to hand out information at the high school anymore, but they didn't say that we couldn't do it."
    Smith said that on Sept. 20, the last time pamphlets were distributed to the public at the high school, Embry expelled campaign members from the property.
    Embry has filed charges against Cliff Smith (aka Jubilee Shine), one of the activists.
    According to a police report, the charges he filed against Smith include "purpose to harass another, engage in alarming course of conduct, specifically engaging the complainant in a verbally abusive conversation and physically impeding his path of travel in violation of NJ 20:33-40."
    Smith said he said was surprised to receive the court notice in the mail about two weeks ago.
    "We showed up at the school in the morning to hand out literature," he said.
    Embry could not be reached for comment.
    The fliers, created by members of the campaign, advertised a rally to support an elected school board in city schools.
    "We're trying to get community control over the schools," Joe Smith, campaign coordinator for Campaign for an Elected Board of Education, said to students as they departed from school buses.
    I was sitting in the auditorium at New Brunswick High School waiting for the Board members to return from their private session.  I heard a voice saying, "Please, don't touch me."  I turned toward the back of the auditorium, I saw Cliff Smith standing in the aisle with his hands behind his back clasped together.  Surrounding him were security guards saying to Cliff, "You have to leave the building."  The security guards were pushing him towards the door.  Cliff kept saying, "Please, don't touch me."  I saw the security guards slam Cliff Smith against the entrance door of the auditorium and pushed him outside the door.  His hands were still clasped behind his back.
    At that moment the Board returned to the auditorium.  I heard a disturbance in the hallway.  I saw Mrs. Moody, NBHS attendence officer, walk down the aisle of the auditorium toward the stage.  She returned with Mr. Embrey, the principal of NBHS. They walked outside of the auditorium toward the voices.
    President, New Brunswick Apartments Tenants' Association
    To whom it may concern:
    In honor so that the truth comes to light, I would like to testify my rendition of what I was a witness to of events that occured on the night of January 15th circa the time of 7:15 pm at New Brunswick High School.
    Having a clear view as I sat within the central seating section of the institution's auditorium in attendance of a public meeting held by the New Brunswick Board of Education, on this night, I witnessed Cliff Smith, an individual that I have seen at several of these meetings within the same setting and have grown to hold conversations of a delicate educational nature, held a fervor converation with one Mr. Pierre Embrey, principal of the institution to which my daughters attend.  The conversation escalated due to the fact that Mr. Cliff Smith was passing out literature with the school's results of state mandatory examination.  I was able to observe that Mr. Embrey had in his hands papers, which he tried to give to Mr. Cliff Smith and Mr. Smith rose his hands high in the air as Mr. Embrey forced them upon his person and down his shirt.  Mr. Embrey told Mr. Smith to leave and forced him out of the auditorium using the aid of security guards although he did not resist.  After he was thrown out of the auditorium all we saw heard him exclaim was the fact that he was in a public meeting.
    Next Mr. Embrey and Donald Bowling proceeded to take out Mr. Smith's brother Joe Smith out of the auditorium with brute force and throwing him up against the wall.  While Mr. Donald Bowling held him crucified up against the wall and repeatedly proceeded to push him repeatedly which caused him to hit his head several times against the wall.  Then Mr. Joe Smith was thrown to the ground and held had his neck under massive pressure from the force applied to it by Mr. Embrey's knee as evident from the screaming exhibited by Mr. Joe Smith.  Mr. Embrey then went into Mr. Joe Smith's pocket and retrieved a cellular phone stating would confiscate it because Mr. Joe Smith had been making bomb threats to the school.  Mr. Smign said it was his personal phone and that Embrey had no right to take it.  The police arrived and Mr. Joe Smith left with the authorities without contest.
    I hold everything written in this letter to be the truth and self-evident.
    I cannot certify any previous actions by the Smiths that would have provoked this event.  However, their behavior was nothing but passive while Mr. Embrey and Mr. Donald Bowling exhibited in my opinion what would be an abuse of authority through aggressive behavior with loose cannon composure.
    Attentively,
    Protests Disrupt Board Meeting At Rutgers U.
    Published: November 14, 1992 NYTimes
    A board of governors meeting at Rutgers University ended in chaos today when students began shouting protests and three were dragged out over professors' objections.
    Two students were taken into custody outside as members of the board tried to leave. About 100 people protested outside the Newark campus police headquarters.
    The students were protesting rising tuition and a ruling that a plan to allocate student government funds to a statewide group be put to a referendum. Also protesting at the board's monthly meeting were professors demanding a quick resolution to contract talks.
    The flare-up began when Lynn McGee, a vice president of the Newark campus student government, said the board's agenda failed to deal with the student concerns.
    After several exchanges with the board chairman, Alvin Rockoff, Mr. McGee was removed by campus security officers. Students in the meeting began screaming about brutality and others pounded on the door from outside. Over the protests of professors, two more students were dragged out after they tried to speak.
    The Rutgers president, Francis Lawrence, said after the meeting that the protesters want to earmark student funds for the United Students of New Jersey, a state association, without consulting the rest of the university's 48,000 students. Mr. Lawrence wants the question put to a student referendum.
    University officials said the arrested students were Cliff Smith (aka Jubilee Shine), a senior from New Brunswick, and Xavier Hansen, a junior from North Brunswick. They were charged with blocking a public passage, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Mr. Hansen also faces a charge of aggravated assault, and Mr. Smith is charged with hindering his apprehension.
    hey i dont think he mean god in the sense like the creator from the bible/koran/torah or whatever...
    but, (in my opinion) a man callin himself god is sayin that this life is what you make from it. everything that happen to you in life is the result of choices made by humans. there is no man with a master plan and purpose for us all.
    you realize that when you pray to god, you basically prayin for good luck in life. whether for yourself or for others, thats what it boil down to. my stepmom prayed about all kinda stupid shit...
    example: she in the parkin lot lookin for a good parkin space, when she finally find somebody backin out... she like praise god/jesus... like whoever that was pullin out that spot wasnt gonna be leavin if she didnt pray, anyway.
    and on the scientific end. all matter that exist... when you break it down to molecules and atoms... is made from the same shit. the same matter that makes up the sun and stars and planets is in you. and everything else that exists. god didnt create you... your parents fucked and that created you.
    if you have kids... that make you more of a creator than any character from a book. god cant be seen, heard, or touched or talked to. but you can be. ask god to strike your enemies down with lightning. see if it happen. but you can come from hip and plug a nigga and end his life.
    your choices on this earth can make your time here heaven or hell.
    WE NEED STUDENT LEADERS, NOT TRAITORS PART: II
    By: Lev D. Zilbermints
    Posted: 3/24/08
    In my previous column (March 11 Observer), I wrote about how student leaders can be traitors to the student cause, ass-kissers and administration puppets.
    This, the second part of my column, shows that the spirit of being a hero and doing the right thing is still alive with certain student leaders.
    ...Rutgers-Newark, Nov. 13, 1992. I was a cross-registered student from Essex County College, completing my penultimate semester before graduating with an A.S. in Liberal Arts/Humanities. Because of studies at ECC, I was not at R-N campus when the events of what came to be known as Black Friday shook Rutgers University. It was one of the events that defined the presidency of then-Rutgers-president Francis L. Lawrence. Let us return to that long-ago day, fifteen years ago...
    In these days, tuition was rising at an alarming rate - by the double digits! - and there was no tuition cap.
    That came later, in 1993.
    Professors were working for six months without a contract, their old one having expired already. An important student group, United Students of New Jersey (USNJ) had its $10,000 allocation by the student governments yanked by President Lawrence. These, and other issues, were the hot topics of the day when the Rutgers Board of Governors (BOG) met in Ackerson Hall at R-N the morning of Nov. 13, 1992.
    Over 50 people signed up to speak. Understandably, the Board cut the list of speakers to ten, with a three-minute time limit allocated to each speaker. The BOG stated that the only topics that could be discussed by the public were those that were on the agenda. In other words, the speakers could not talk about issues that concerned them if these issues were not on the agenda!
    So this was how things were inside Ackerson Hall.
    Outside, student protesters were facing Rutgers police armed with tear gas, batons, fists, and boots. In this tense atmosphere, the smallest spark was necessary to set off the confrontation.
    And it came.
    Inside Ackerson, then-NCAS-SGA Executive Vice President Lynn McGee addressed the BOG. According to the Nov. 16, 1992 Observer, he pleaded with the BOG to listen to the students, to address their concerns. In his passionate speech, McGee overstepped the time limit. At this point, the chairman, Alvin Rockoff, cut him off. When McGee asked for more time, Rockoff told R-N security to escort the SGA Vice President out!
    The next speaker was the great activist and NCAS-SGA Senator-at-Large Cliff Smith (aka Jubilee Shine). His antics were legendary in my day. He and his student organization, Campaign for An Affordable Rutgers Education (CARE) came to BOG meetings to protest; took over buildings at both Newark and New Brunswick campuses; demanded tuition freezes; caps on tuition, voting student representation on the BOG. So Cliff starts to speak, and Rockoff cuts him off, saying the previous speaker had used up his time. Cliff continues to speak anyway, and Rockoff orders police to remove him.
    That is when things got nasty.
    If you check the old photographs published in the Observer and the Rutgers-New Brunswick's Daily Targum, you will see that Cliff went limp, and four policemen are literally dragging him out past shame-faced audience members. However, students formed a human chain at the door and would not let police get Cliff out. So what police did was raise Cliff over the heads of the students and literally throw him out!
    Oh wait, it gets more interesting from here!
    Outside Ackerson, student protesters are clashing with police. Fists, tear gas, boots, batons and teeth are freely used. In a scene that looked more from the 1960s, (but is actually a published 1992 photo) a student is biting a R-N cop on the arm. In another photo, a student is lying on the ground, trying prevent a cop's boots from kicking him. A cop is reported by the Observer as telling a teary female NCAS-SGA Senator to go "fuck" herself and giving her the finger. So, while all this is happening, a cop on the roof of Ackerson is video-taping everything!
    Don't believe me? Dig up the old November 1992 student newspapers and read about it!
    At the end of the day, police hustled student protesters - often beaten up by police - into a police van. They were then carted off to a place where not even their own lawyer, Jeffrey Fogel, knew. It took him four hours to find out where his clients were held.
    The university lied to the press, too. When the Star-Ledger came out the next day, Nov.14, it mentioned the protest on its front page...but stated that no injuries were reported! I also heard that when the Observer came out on Monday, Nov. 16, certain parties tried to prevent its distribution.
    The students of the early 1990s were heroes, men and women who were not afraid to stand for what they believed in. They greatly inspired me, a second-term ECC SGA senator.
    I wonder, how many students of the late 2000s are willing to be as heroic as their 1990s counterparts?
    Lev D. Zilbermints is a UC-SGA Senator and a R-N student.
    But no, I understand what you're saying. It is difficult to guage the totality of what a person is about through a message board. I don't even try. For some people it is an outlet to release and vent, others come to exchange, some come for pure entertainment. I'm pretty good at reading people in real life that I talk to and interact with though and even then I recognize that people are complex. Putting people in boxes is convenient, but most likely problematic.
    Fears of rioting grows as simmering black community renews claims of brutality after late-night car chase ends with officer firing 10 shots
    • The Guardian,
    The man in the hooded sweatshirt, a large gold medallion hanging from his neck, was in no mood to talk. "Turn around and cross the street," he said. "You're with a newspaper? Turn around and cross the street."
    The man was one of half a dozen gathered at the spot in South Los Angeles where 13-year-old Devin Brown met his death at the hands of Los Angeles Police Department just before 4am on Monday.
    The boy was shot by an officer at the end of a three-minute car chase in which he was either the driver or passenger of a vehicle that may or may not have been stolen.
    The shooting has sparked anger in the impoverished, largely African American community of South Los Angeles, and has left the police department once again facing accusations of brutality.
    So far, no riots have flared, but a march and rally this week revealed raw tensions.
    Last month an outcry followed a jury's award of $1.6m (£860,000) to a police officer shown on television repeatedly slamming the head of a young man into the bonnet of a car during an arrest.
    Jubilee Shine, who is organising a public meeting for tomorrow, said the police were out of control. "There's no accountability to the community," he said. "That's the pattern and we need an end to it. The community needs to be organised. We've had vigils and police-community committees, but very little in terms of action. We need to bring together as wide a community as possible. I don't know what the solution is, but this can't go on."
    THE NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY
    NATIONAL MINISTRY OF CULTURE
    PO BOX 25332, NEWARK, NJ 07101
    201-602-0780
    May 30, 2008
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    SHUT’EM DOWN! NO MORE LIQUOR STORES IN OUR ‘HOOD!
    MARCH FOR ‘THE SOUL OF THE SOUTH WARD’!
    On Saturday, June 14th, the New Black Panther Party will rally with legions of Bergen Street area residents to protest the opening of a liquor store and establishment on the corner of Bergen Street and Custer Avenue, right in the heart of Newark’s south ward.
    The rally will include a march and will be held from 12 noon to 5p.m. at Bergen and Hawthorne.
    Months ago, a merchant from outside of the area applied to the city for a permit to open a liquor store and establishment. When he was confronted with wide well-organized opposition from the community, he then applied for a permit to open a check cashing business instead, but once he secured approval for that, he then began to renovate the location for the liquor establishment he originally opted for, outraging the community who had already been to the city’s zoning board and city council to properly register their opposition.
    Since then, people like Carolyn Kelly-Shabazz, who runs the First Class Championship Center on Bergen Street, have rallied their neighbors like Palm Garden Church of the Living God, Gethesemane Church of God In Christ, the Pentecostal Family Prayer Center, United Muslim Inc. and host of area businesses and residents.
    Two weeks ago, our elders fired another shot in community self-defense on this issue. They secured a lawyer and went into court and secured an injunction temporarily halting the process until it can be properly addressed through the proper channels.
    Meanwhile, support for the June 14th action has been swelling. Organizations like Morticians That Care, well known for  their casket van used at anti street violence actions will be join in as will many other groups.
    “We have two schools, a day care center, four churches, a mosque and a whole lot of good people who just don’t want that liquor store and all the negativity its going to bring with it in our community,” Kelly-Shabazz railed.
    Area residents have also already secured the outraged support of city council members Mildred Crump, Donald Payne Jr. and Oscar James II, who joined them at a recent press conference.
    “I proudly tip my hat to Sis. Carolyn Kelly-Shabazz and to our elders for how they came together. They have done in exemplary fashion what a community is supposed to do to protect the fabric of their neighborhood, and still, in spite of all that, somebody at City Hall is arrogantly and underhandedly turning their backs on them. It’s time to raise hell,” Muhammad observed.
    For more information about the rally and march, please call 973-318-7013. For more information about the Party, please call 201-602-0780...
    Critical thinking and culturally relevant education are not welcomed at Jordan High School
    Latina English Teacher is threatened with termination for being too "Afro-centric" in her teaching.
    As a second year teacher, Ms. Karen Salazar has had a dynamic impact on the Jordan High School campus by connecting readings to the real lives and struggles that students go through. Her English Class has become a favorite among students on campus, where they regularly read and analyze books and selected readings from people of color to whom the students can relate.  Students, who typically skip some of their classes, show up religiously in Salazar's English Class.
    However, much of Salazar's success has also led to constant harassment by Jordan H.S. administration. Salazar has been visited and "observed" by the administration over 15 times in the past year. During one of the visits, an administrator criticized her for having students read The Autobiography of Malcom X, a LAUSD approved text. When she objected to this criticism, she was told that her teachings where too "Afro-centric."  She was then told that the school would not renew her teaching contract for the upcoming school year.
    What makes this case particularly interesting is that the principal, Stephen Strachan, is African American and Salazar is Salvadorian.  However, Strachan believes that Salazar teaches too much about the Black experience, which is completely ironic.
    "The school knows that Ms. Salazar is a very passionate and good teacher, and yet they want to fire her. It is not fair because there are many other teachers who don't teach anything, and they never get fired," said one of the Jordan High School Students at a youth-led meeting to discuss the firing.
    At the meeting, many Jordan students expressed anger and frustration over the situation. After two hours of discussion, it was agreed that the students would form the Students 4 Salazar coalition and demand that Ms. Salazar continue to teach at Jordan for the upcoming school year. Students also decided that they had no other recourse but to take direct action to save their teacher.  A protest rally was planned for after school in front of Jordan H.S. on Thursday, June 5th 2008 at 3:15pm.
    Am I wrong for laughing at this? They are now suggesting that there is a new video where Michelle Obama said “whitey.” To all my white friends, tell me is this offensive or how offensive. I personally think “honky” is the illest word George Jefferson ever spit on network TV. Nas should call his album “Honky.” Hahahahahaha!
    ~~~ AHH how ignorant... do you mine me saying "Darky" or "Blacky"???  Honestly, i think shits funny... it wouldnt bother me if someone called me whitey or Cracker... but im sure if said to a black man all hell would break loose... and if someones on the news or wutever said blacky.. theyd prob lose their fuckin job... again, cuz it is ignorant...
