Ok, I have a question for all of the black people who read the board who is either Republican, is voting for John McCain this election, or has voted Republican before.

WHY???

The reason why I ask this question is because over the last couple of weeks the Republikkkan party has constantly reminded us that racism is still a huge part of our society. I am getting sick and tired of seeing video after video where hate mongering Republikkkans gather around at these modern day klan meetings in which they call rallies and spew out hateful rhetoric about a grown ass man who could just as well be the next president of The United States while the leaders of the Republikkkan party (John MKKKain & Sarah Palin) turn the other cheek. On top of that, John MKKKain defends this type of behavior during the final debate last night, while in the same breath condemed being compared to segregationist George Wallace by congressman John Lewis. But why? Because essentially that IS what is going on at these rallies and if John MKKKain isn't careful, there could very well be a situation like the bombing that killed the 4 little girls in Alabama.

On top of that, we have people like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reily, and Sean Hannity who spew their racist views to millions of people everyday. Take a look at this link of Rush Limbaugh suggesting that angry blacks have been in a 30 year plot to train black children as militants.

The Devin is good, if you are a fan of his work you would really like it.  It also serves as a change of pace for me, I need something relaxing and funny for the ride home while I'm stuck in traffic.  He got a nice jazz feel all the way through but still refers to the everyday person.  BTW, every woman that's hopped in the car doesn't mind hearing it since he keeps the comedy in the ish he says.

The man shot and killed by Sacramento County sheriff's deputies Wednesday after a Taser failed to stop him was identified today.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the man as Damion Devon McMurray, 30, of Rio Linda.

McMurray was shot several times after struggling with deputies who had been called to a Rio Linda apartment complex.

Following department policy, three deputies involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave. The incident will be investigated by the department's homicide and internal affairs units and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.

Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran said deputies responded to a citizen's call Wednesday afternoon reporting that a man was acting irrationally and might be armed at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Dry Creek Road in Rio Linda.

Three deputies responding to the call about 4:30 p.m. found McMurray standing near the doorway of his downstairs apartment.

A news release from Curran stated that McMurray "failed to comply with the deputies' orders and retreated into the apartment." The deputies entered the apartment and again gave McMurray unspecified orders, which he did not follow, Curran said.

The deputies continued to order McMurray to comply with them before one deputy fired his Taser at the McMurray, who shrugged off the electronic device's effects and attacked one of the deputies, Curran said.

The deputy then drew his department-issued semi-automatic handgun and fired several shots, striking McMurray in the upper body.

Paramedics arrived and took McMurray to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m.

No weapon was recovered from McMurray, officials said, and the person who called the sheriff's department to originally report the disturbance left the scene without speaking to investigators.

"As far as the deputies knew, they were still dealing with a man with a gun," Curran said, "and that gun could have been in the apartment."

I already voted for Barack, so please believe me when I say I know where your anger and frustration is coming from.  I can speak to you on why SOME Republicans, black or not, are voting Republican.

For some, it has to do with their views on abortion (in relation to their religion/faith/beliefs/etc...).  I know black folks in the south who vote Republican for that reason alone.  They don't even really care for the person they are voting for, but they know that person is NOT for abortion, so they vote for them.  Others vote for Republicans due to their tax bracket.  If you make more than $250,000 dollars, as they were talking about Joe The Plumber last night, then you are going to be hit with a higher tax bracket (under Obama's plan).  This was something that actually bothered me as I had to decide to vote, only because I believe in an America where those who bust they azz and are willing to put in the work to make their money shouldn't be "penalized" by paying a higher tax bracket than those who, for WHATEVER REASON, didn't.  I can understand that, only because I can see myself making 250 plus within the next 2-3 yrs, and don't want them taking it:).  But my belief in Barack and his intentions are strong enough to make that sacrifice.  But most people aren't going to think like that.  If you make $250K plus, and have to cought up $75K-$100K for taxes, you would probably feel the same way.  Think about that...

So, it's not that ALL Republicans are racist, crazy, downright awful people.  It's just that they are the ones who seem to always find themselves on TV:)  Think about all the times you are watching TV, and you see intelligent brothas and sistas in the background at a "crime scene" or accident or something, and the tv reporter goes and grabs the crackhead off the street to ask them what happened.  And the more people see that kind of stuff, they stereotype us as being ignorant, crackhead junkies who can't do right...ya digg?  It's just that all we see is THAT...

I know people who are voting Republican for the platform ALONE...I happen to look at the platforms, but I also look at the individuals running for office.  I can't be voting for no McCain/Palin ticket EVER, so I was rolling with Barack all the way.  I believe Barack's plans/intentions are for the betterment of the country as a whole, and it's a risk (financially) I am willing to take in order to see this brotha make history...

But I don't hold McCain/Palin responsible for the # of idiots they have rooting for them.  They can't control it, but it's also the same reason why McCain should have shut his mouth last night talking about how Barack didn't "repudiate" the attacks that were made against him by a columnist...I'm thinking "WHITE BOY PLEASE!"....these mofo's is shouting kill him and terrorist at your rally's, spurred on by rhetoric made by Palin's ignorant azz.  And I don't know/think McCain is "racist", but Palin is definitely is...I don't trust that evil broad...

So, I grew up with both black friends and white friends.  You would see "outlying" tendencies that would pop up.  Like...

You could be coming off the practice field, and notice that as you get closer to your "white friends", all the conversation and chatter seemed to cease.  Were they talking about me?  About black people?  who knows, right?

but then you would see some of those same folks in school, and they would be hella cool with you.  See them AFTER school with their "friends", and they would act funny because they didn't want their white friends (who were racist) thinking you were anything to them.

You don't pay it much attention, because you know how the game goes, and you figure as you get older it gets better...

But then you get to college, and you realize as you try to move up in the world, it doesn't.  At IU, about 5-10 % of the 35-40K population of the undergrads are black.  The rest predominantly white, followed by Asians.  but here's what's tricky...

Loud parties where it's mostly "white folks", and the parties go on for DAYS.  Black party, and the party is over at 11:00, with police checking ID's AND following some people to their car so they can try and catch them drinking and driving...Just double standards.  You would also get the obligatory "f*CK YOU NIGGERS" here and there depending on what part of town you're in.  Most of them mad because most of the black men on campus can have their way with whomever they want (remember, only 5-10% of the pop is black, with the majority of THAT being women:)...

Fast forward to corporate America.  I worked over at Gap HQ for 2 yrs.  You know how many black people I reported to while there?  0, because that was the number of people in a leadership position for the company in allocation.  Come to Ohio and work or A&F HQ, and you know how many people of color they have in ANY Executive Leadership role?  ONE....the head of DIVERSITY...and that's only because they were sued in the stores for being RACIST and discriminatory.  Allocation, which is what I work in....0 brothas or sistas with leadership, and actually 0 sistas who are even Allocators.

I say behind the scenes, because truthfully, and it's not to knock WHITE PEOPLE, but the SYSTEM is not built for African-Americans to succeed.  I don't typically get into any crazy rants about how the white man has brought us down, blah, blah, blah...namely, because we as black men/women ALLOW obstacles that are thrown our way to inhibit us from striving for MORE.

But, it's not to say it doesn't happen.  You know the story of crack cocaine?  It was actually pumped into the black community to not only fund some of our illegal operations abroad, but also utilized as a form of deteriorating and dividing the black community.  Instead of the Black Panther Party, you have Bloods and Crips.  Instead of brothas and sistas working as one, we try to divide and conquer real estate that doesn't even belong to US.  Instead of striving to get MORE in life, we deal with what we have, and if anyone succeeds, we try our best to pull them down.

Any time we have someone of prominence to try and help lead us into a new direction, they are typically "snuffed" out.  Martin, Malcolm, Medgar...all killed.

I could almost throw a Tupac or someone in there, because typically any time a Black Man with power is able to rise to a purpose of leading BLACK PEOPLE to a HIGHER LEVEL, they are typically SNUFFED OUT.  Hell, you can even throw white people like RFK or JFK in there as well, because anytime you do something for minorities, it's frowned upon...

When I said what's going on behind closed doors, I was speaking to the fact that this country was not founded, built, or created for US.  It's not to say I don't appreciate being an American, because where else can you have stories about some of the men I have stated....but America was built BY US, but not FOR US.

Think about it...when the Constitution was made, we were slaves.  Yes, it's a "living" document, which has amendments and what not added to it...but it's not FOR US.  Hell, the right to vote has to be "renewed" every so many years...come on now...Renewed???

This country was built on the backs of slaves, but not for the advancement of colored people.  So when I say these behind closed doors, I'm saying the true wealth, the true freedom, the true growth of this country is not meant for the black man/woman to partake in...

I know it probably is a lot to read, so I apologize, but I just wanted to share...

Behind closed doors means, behind the scenes, it's still a

WHITE MAN'S WORLD...

And one more thing...

You can tell a lot by a man/woman and their word.

If this country were to have some type of "revolt" or what not right now, and all the white people said "we're gonna kill all nigg*rs...ride with us or get shot!"....the majority would ride with.

Check this...

Get some beads....black/white/yellow/red/Orange/brown

Create a questionairre based on where you work.  Questions like...

Who's your boss? (white - white, black-black, yellow-asian, brown-latino, red - I forgot what red was for!, orange - indian)

Who do you work with on your team?

Who do you typically hang out with outside of work?

Who is your dentist?

Who is your doctor?

Who is your best friend?

What clubs do you go to?

etc, etc....

Create like 20 questions that can be somewhat "summed up" into 20-30 examples of people who have some impact on your life outside of family.

Now put those beads in a small see through case.  Pick that case up and look at it.  Study it...

If you are in the CORPORATE WORLD, and are white, I'll bet...

95-100% of your beads are white (maybe a speck here or there of other colors)

If you are black

Your box will probably be about 50/50, because your friends, clubs, etc will be mixed of whom you like to associate with, while your work environment will constitute most of your other beads (for some of you, it will probably still be white.  If so, we need to work on you ASAP:)

If you are asian

your box MIGHT be about 20/80, where 80% of it is white

Same with Indian...

Latino

YOur box will probably be one of the more diverse, depending on your upbringing and friends...

But here's the thing...

Put the see through box up to your eye and look out.  That is what WE see everyday.  I swear, we did this in my training class (I was the only brother in there), and I had the MOST diverse box.  I had like 50% white, 40% black, and the other 10% asian/latino/indian.

The other boxes...

ALL WHITE!  there would be a red one here, a yellow one there, and that was usually the doctor or dentist or something.  Not the boss, not the people at work.

Now imagine seeing life like that.  Imagine being black, or asian, or latino and having to 'assimilate' to your environment.  See, that is typically the problem we have with our white brethren...THEY DON'T HAVE TOO!  This, unfortunately, and especially in America, is a white man's world.  So, they don't have to feel discriminated against...they don't have to feel unfomfortable...they don't have to feel as if they don't "belong", and because of that, they can't truly understand what it is to be that black kid, or asian kid, or latino kid...etc, etc...

This isn't to say this works EVERYWHERE (for example, if you live in Detroit, you probably wouldn't get the same results:), but overall, across the nation, this is the norm.  And that is why no matter how we cut it, you can't say you "understand" unless you walk in our shoes...

A Republican women's club in San Bernardino County sent out a recent newsletter with a photo of Barack Obama surrounded by fried chicken, watermelon and ribs, sparking widespread outrage and rebuke from GOP leaders and Democrats.

The illustration shows the Democratic presidential candidate's head atop a donkey's body on a bogus $10 bill referred to as "Obama Bucks." Inscribed on the money are the words "United States Food Stamps" surrounded by stereotypical African American food.

"I apologize to anyone who was offended because that was not my intent," said club President Diane Fedele. "It was poor judgment on my part. It was strictly an attempt to point out the outrageousness of Obama's statement that he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills." The caption reads: "Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on ????? Food Stamps, what else!"

Fedele said the mailer merely parodied the statements Obama made during a debate last summer and wasn't racist.


"If I was racist, I would have looked at it through racist eyes," she said. "I am not racist, which is why it probably didn't register."

Club member Kristina Sandoval agreed.

"None of us are racists," she said.

The use of watermelon, ribs and fried chicken was innocent, she said.

"Everyone eats those foods, it's not a racial thing."

That's not how club member Acquanetta Warren -- a Fontana city councilwoman and an African American -- saw it.

"My daughter who is 16 was standing over my shoulder when I opened the e-mail, and her mouth dropped wide open," Warren said. "I actually turned the screen away and sent her to her room so she wouldn't see. I don't want to talk to anyone; I want a written apology so the public knows that this is not right and this is not representative of the way Republicans think."

She's known Fedele a long time and is shocked by the newsletter.

"When she didn't see a problem with this, I knew something was wrong," said Warren, who is also vice chairman of the California Republican Party for the Inland Empire. "This is an isolated, crazy thing. Our chairman is outraged. We just don't do this."

Indeed, Fedele drew a sharp reprimand from Ron Nehring, California Republican Party chairman.

"Any material that invokes issues related to race is absolutely unacceptable, tarnishes our party, diminishes the hard work of the tens of thousands of volunteers who are working hard every day for our candidates, and must be condemned," he said in a statement Thursday. "This material I've seen inspires nothing but divisiveness and hostility and has absolutely no place in this election, or any public discourse."

His statement also referred to an image on the Sacramento County GOP website this week showing Obama in a turban beside Osama bin Laden with the words: "The difference between Osama and Obama is just a little B.S." The site also exhorted members to "Waterboard Barack Obama."
