And Jules is the Capo. 50 was on speaking the truth!!!! Straight up. I've NEVER been a fam of Cam. I think he's a smart business man, BUT you got to give credit where credit is due. Jim is a star Cam is not. Stop beefing with 50 cause 50 is way ahead of you. Ja Rule and 50 beef needs to stop for real. The trial set Murdah Inc. back a bit, but Lloyd did keep them on point. Future artists out there DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Start digging into them old hip hop archives from 1986 to like 2000. You would be surprised how much material from in those 14 yrs can be used again (sample or re-created) to bring hip hop to a much happier state than what it is now. Forgive me for talking your eyes off.........it's just that I remember when going to a house party was the shit especially when your favorite song came on and the Dj was your man from around the way, and going to a hip hop show was a big event!!! The police arrested the rapper Remy Ma yesterday after a shooting in the meatpacking district left a Bronx woman critically wounded.

The police were searching for the rapper Remy Ma in connection with a shooting in Manhattan early Saturday morning.

Makeda Barnes-Joseph was shot twice in the abdomen.
Remy Ma, 23, whose real name is Remy Smith, was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon after the Bronx woman, who had been out partying with Ms. Smith and others, was shot in her car a few hours before dawn in West Chelsea.

The woman, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, 23, was in stable condition yesterday at St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan after being shot twice in the abdomen, the police said. She was shot shortly before 4 a.m. while driving her white Nissan Maxima on Washington Street just south of West 14th Street.

Several hours later, the Nissan was still in the street, and the driver’s door was open, revealing blood, scattered bills, a black bra and a gold stiletto pump inside.

A black Cadillac Escalade registered to the rapper under her real name was found, crashed, two blocks away, at Little West 12th Street and 10th Avenue. Ms. Smith used to be part of the hip-hop artist Fat Joe’s group Terror Squad, and she was featured on the 2004 hit single “Lean Back.” Her debut album, “There’s Something About Remy,” was released last year by SRC/Universal.

The police said they were still piecing together the motivation behind the shooting, but relatives of Ms. Barnes-Joseph said the dispute might have been over money.

Ms. Barnes-Joseph, who works at a real estate office in Manhattan, had been celebrating a friend’s birthday with a half-dozen others, said her mother, Christina Barnes. Ms. Barnes-Joseph’s brother, Chad Barnes, a party promoter known as Chad Royal, said his sister knew Ms. Smith through a mutual friend, Krystal Bolton, who raps under the name Krys-Style. Mr. Barnes said it was Ms. Bolton’s birthday the group was celebrating.

The party ended up at Pizza Bar, a restaurant on Ninth Avenue in the meatpacking district, around midnight, said the restaurant’s owner, Sasha Tcherevkoff. He said they ordered cocktails and a pizza.

The group swelled to around 30 revelers, and began dwindling around 3 a.m. At some point, Mr. Barnes said, Ms. Smith accused his sister of stealing $3,000 from her purse, a claim Ms. Barnes-Joseph vehemently denied.

Mr. Tcherevkoff said yesterday that he had not seen Ms. Smith at his restaurant before and was unaware of any dispute. “Anybody know what happened? Did she get shot? Or shoot somebody?” he asked reporters gathered outside Pizza Bar early yesterday.

When the group left the restaurant, Ms. Barnes-Joseph got into her Maxima — it was not clear whether she was alone — and Ms. Smith got into the Escalade S.U.V. The police believe the attacker left the Escalade, got into the Maxima, shot Ms. Barnes-Joseph and then raced back to the Escalade. The S.U.V. was believed to have crashed into another car at West 14th Street and 10th Avenue before being abandoned two blocks south at Little West 12th Street with its air bags deployed. Investigators said it was not known how many people had been inside.

Two men were questioned yesterday at the West 10th Street station house. Ms. Smith, who lives in Cliffside Park, N.J., grew up in the Castle Hill Houses in the Bronx and used to perform as Remy Martin. She was a protégée of the Bronx rapper Big Pun, and after his death in 2000 she continued rapping with Fat Joe and Terror Squad. In “Lean Back,” she delivered the song’s brash second verse, which included a warning to clubgoers: “Listen: We don’t pay admission and the bouncers don’t check us/And we walk around the metal detectors.”

Ms. Smith distanced herself from Terror Squad last fall, telling MTV, “We don’t hang together, but we’re cool.” Her second album, “The BX Files,” is scheduled to be released on an independent label, Sure Shot Recording, next month.

The label’s owner, Chris Landry, said yesterday that he was unaware of the shooting, or of Ms. Smith’s possible involvement.
