I just have a problem with people charging artists to perform. Our genre is like the only one that does that. I worked at a resort and all these little bands would come and play and get anywhere from $300 to $700. I've been studying the indie rock scene in the Poconos and Long Island.. and these cats are getting payed to play at these little bars & clubs.

Hip hop artists always have to sell tickets or do some extra shit to get recognized... but it always boils down to them coughing up cash instead of making some...

ok.. that's my little peeve...

Like I said.. i'm not coming at you directly.. because $10 ain't shit...

but i just needed to voice that...

518P was asking how could the hundreds of billions spent on the 'war on terror' been spent otherwise like Universal Healthcare.

I was defintely agreeing with better healthcare for all and I would have made sure there was provision for all these pensions. Community programs put in place to help people better themselves and give kids something to do other than get in trouble just coz they bored. There should be more places where the state run vocational training centers to teach different trade skills and more scholarships for those that want to go to college but can't afford to.

It could have been also used to fund research to cure cancers and other disease....research into more renewable energy so we don't hv to go around fighting over oil!!

Its sad that health and education of the ppl plays second place to politricks and those in power gettin their own money.

This message is about banning together for injustices done to Blacks and other minorities. It gives cases where human rights were ignored concerning Blacks. This message is asking us as people to ban together and not spend one dime on November 2 to make a statement to the powers that exist over us.

Food for thought

Many people marched in Jena, La last month in support of the 6 young men unjustly charged with attempted murder for a school yard fight. There are many situations all over the nation that scream of injustice and unfair treatment of people in this country.

There is the woman in West Virginia who was raped and tortured for days with barely any national coverage. They called her the N word but as of this writing, they still had not confirmed they are treating this as a hate crime.

We all know the young groom in NYC who was murdered by the NYPD on the eve of his wedding.

There is the teenage girl in Texas who was sentenced to jail time for an altercation with a school official. How about the teenage girl who was sprayed with mace for missing curfew. You can see her in the video restrained by a police officer twice her size. She was in handcuffs when she was sprayed.

Maybe you heard of the California girl who had her arm broken by a school security official when she refused to pick up a piece of cake from the floor. It was filmed by a school mate and is all over You Tube. You may have heard of the young man in Georgia who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having consensual sex with a young girl. He was 17, she was 15. There was also the young brother in Florida who died in the custody of the state when he was admitted to their boot camp. They said he had diabetes but they couldn't explain his battered body.

All of these stories happened within the last year or two.

Those are just a few instances where people in this country have been treated unfairly, while 4 young men in Raleigh, NC sue the state for 10 million dollars each because they were "falsely" accused of rape. There are people who spend YEARS in prison and are exonerated that don't get nearly that much coin. By the way, who else is tired of the Princess Diana wrongful death inquiry? I mean, come on, it's very sad how she died but does her death need to be the top news story 10 years and 2 months after her death?

On Friday, November 2, 2007, Warren Ballentine, Reverend Al Sharpton and other civil rights leaders are calling for a national boycott. Black people alone spend 2 billion dollars a day in the United States and we are only approximately 12% of the population. 2 billion dollars a day, lining the pockets of companies that have shown no interest in our interests. We ARE living in the new civil rights movement. We cannot allow the march in Jena to be only an event. It MUST be a movement.

In the 1950s, the bus boycott was only supposed to be for a few days or weeks. It ended up being over a year. The goal was for fair treatment and bus integration. Our parents and grandparents sacrificed and showed that with faith and strength, they could show corporate America the power of the community and demanded fair treatment. As we know, those buses were integrated.

This is not about color. This is about class. The middle class and poor people in this country are not treated as the Declaration of Independence says we should be treated. It states that "all men are created equal". Clearly the governing class of the United States disagrees with their document.

Join us on on Friday, November 2, 2007 and don't spend ANY money. If you have to shop, do it the day before or the day after. If you need gas, get it the day before or the day after. We have to join together as a community. You may be thinking, it's only one day, what difference will it make? I had the same thought at first, but just think about it. If we all save our money that day, it WILL make a difference. That day may become a weekend. That weekend may become a week and that week a month. As we showed in the 1950s, we can make a difference if we do this together.

If you can pass the many dumb jokes and forwards we all get, you most certainly can pass this important email to all your friends and family.

Show a sign of solidarity.

Yeah man these fires are no fuckin joke..The one in southern cali is much bigger than the shit gets down here, but you wouldn't figure it because we're always on a rain drought for the last 2 years and there's always brush fires, at least once a week.

Just last year in North Florida and Southern GA over 300,000 acres were burned. We had ash on our cars down here, and the closest fire was more than 300 miles away..

We are on water restrictions because it doesn't rain, then there are forest fires because the land is so dry. You would figure with the world being what 80% water that we wouldn't have this problem, but for some reason we cant get that water from the ocean to our forest to keep it from being so dry. Now there are half a million people being forced from their homes, who are within I dont know (someone in Cali help me out) maybe 100 miles from the ocean, tops?

I love how you have to get on here and see what we say. You have to. You sit at home all day and wonder if we're talking about you. But as far as what you said...I'ma break it down like this. Some people aren't unemployed because they want to be. Down here you can't get a job doing shit right now. If you got a college degree you can't get a job at McDonalds. There's just no job openings plain and simple.

There's a difference between when cops are called to serve and protect, and do their job, and when they go out of their way to murder someone. The case I was referring to was in 2005 where a guy got killed at the train station in Chicago on video for being near a fight. The marathon runner had a heart condition that is said to not be that serious. They said they couldn't get directions over the radio because the lines were tied up. They didn't have maps of the road closures. The lines were tied up, the ones you might have to depend on one day when you are near dead were tied up. I've volunteered at the dispatch centers, I know they weren't using those lines to help all those people. You would be surprised of the conversation that goes on over those lines. In a big city like Chicago, on a day where they are running a Marathon, in abnormal heat for the city, they should have made more lines available if there's a history of them tied up. They're writing this man's death off as if it was his fault. Like this was the first time he ever ran in his entire life. Just brushing it off like oh, well the lines were tied up there's nothing we could have done about it. How about not hiring some bumblefuck who can't get around their own city to drive an ambulance when you know they could have someone's life in their hands.

The thing about America, is you're supposed to be able to stand on the corner with you pants hangin down as low as you want them. Just like you have the right to pull your thong up your ass as far as you want to. Not every person who 'sags' is selling drugs, let me assure you. Nor are all of them on welfare, or even have children for that matter. I'm willing to bet every one of your trust funds, penny for penny that more people sag and don't sell drugs, than do.

I agree that there are a solid amount of people who need to grow up in the country, but you can't turn the other cheek when someone is subjected to what the police feels to be necessary action. That's not what the law is. It's not for interpretation. If it was, it wouldn't be written down. If the law was for interpretation, it wouldn't stand in the courts, because every man would say well I didn't see it that way. I thought you were allowed to steal all these people's retirement funds because..uuhhh...I didn't know I couldn't do that (enron). It is NOT the police's job to bust heads. It is to protect and serve, and just because you act wild doesn't mean you don't have a right to be protected or served. There are cops who do their job. More that do, than who act out and execute brutality. It's not their job to inflict their own self brand of justice. They are simply a courier for the system. They're supposed to bring the bad guy to jail so he can be punished the way the law says he's supposed to.
